    Let me ask you a question, do you what to know how to defend yourself and protect the people you care about?
    Wouldn't it be awesome if you could get rid of fear and learn to defend yourself? What if you could instantly download Wing Chun into your brain? These are questions I used to ask myself as well.
    Just imagine if you had that Wing Chun, Kung Fu skill you always admired, what would you do with it? Would that instantly change your life and health for the better? Unfortunately, Wing Chun, Kung Fu isn't as easy as inserting a cord into our brain to download the information like the Matrix.
    Talk about "Wing Chun Kung Fu overload" . . .

      @damiensouth1160 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      @@min009 Its harder to grab that eye than you think and definatly harder than he makes it look. Personally as a WC and a BJJ guy In Master Wongs position I would recommend instead of grabbing for an eye hook, reach a little lower and grab the opponents left collar as far as you can reach around, then pull just like Master Wong pulled the eye hook. At that point you are literally choking the opponent with a blood choke, they try to pull against it they sleep faster, if they turn away to release pressure they just gave you their back. Meanwhile Master Wongs left hand can be striking, controlling an arm or assisting with the choke. Bas Ruten put it best IMO, "never go for an eye technique when your opponent has a better position".

    • @damiensouth1160
      @damiensouth1160 5 ปีที่แล้ว +59

      @@tOOballs Bas Rutton tells a story about "Ninjas" coming into his class one time and while he was demonstrating the rear naked choke one of them said "oh I'd just reach back and gouge your eye out if you had me like that". Bas said ok then let's try it, applies the rear naked lightly and said "ok in three seconds I'm going to squeeze the choke but if you touch my face I'm gonna snap your fucking neck". His eye might hurt a little but you're dead in the literal blink of an eye. Moral of the story never use a pain technique (eye gouge, bite etc) when someone has you in a dominate position.

  • @javierparedes1898
    @javierparedes1898 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    What I gathered from this video is that you cannot limit your self defense to just one style. This was obviously was a very choreographed fight. In BJJ you don't really walk in eating punches, there are several options on how to take an opponent down. The BJJ guy could've easily taken him down before he got his eyes gouged out, but I understand there was a greater point. I just wanted clear that up for those who haven't trained in BJJ. Also, there are some escapes from an armbar (if it's not tight). You face your opponent and gaple grip your hand. Sometimes I'd give my sparring partner my arm just to reverse it and end on a more domination position but it's risky. However, I do agree that a style competing in a other styles rules will always lose. What alot of people don't know is that alot of BJJ competition don't allow foot locks, judo doesn't allow grabbing below the belt and wrestling doesnt allow submissions. All these rules renders ones or another style useless. Muay thai fighter cannot outbox a boxer, a boxer cannot handle leg kicks. I doubt any style can out chi sao a wing chunner (if that even counts?). The difference between BJJ and Wing chun that I cannot ignore is that BJJ has proven itself to be effective. Wing chun has not. The best way to prove your wing chun is through competition (anyone recall the Ving tsun dude in the early ufc days get mauled back when UFC only had three rules?). I don't think Wing Chun is bad art. I don't like to think negative about any art. I practiced wing chun for two years and have taken some elements of wing chun with me. When I parry the jab, I pak sao. When I knee, I Gung sao, and when I am being mounted, I bil sao those Incomming blows (common in Mma). The hooks punches are basically with a wing chun fist (jabs and crosses aren't). Most schools now are progressive now these days. BJJ schools now take moves from wrestling and muay thai fighters are better with their hands and slips these days because of western boxing. Would i recommend wing chun as a self defense system? As someone that has experience in it, I would say absolutely not. If master wongs school is near you. I'd say it's worth trying. He seems progressive. Alot of his moves are simply just not traditional wing chun which is what my experience is. But Wing chun as a system just isn't practical ENOUGH. You get alot more out if your money from an MMA school.

    Street fights often involve guns and knives, so the best fighter is the most intelligent fighter. The mind is the most powerful weapon. Avoidance and keen perception of your opponents attributes can mean life or death. Grappling a knife is low percentage victory so kicking or running is better. Grappling a gun is dangerous, getting the barrel deflected from your body is the prime move. Situational awareness rules the day.

    Conclusion: Good point to say streets have no rules. However, live training is the closest thing you can get to simulate the street safely. There are so many ways to learn a new skill without being thrown off the deep end by using simulations. Furthermore, BJJ, Boxing, MuyThai, have live training with 100% resisting opponents, and have been tested and Proven effective in the street after controlled training. I haven't seen Wing Chun, Kenpo, Kali Silat, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, or etc... Prove their methods in either live simulation training. Or the street.
    tl;dr: if you can learn to fly a plane in a training simulator, you can learn to defend yourself in live simulation practice.

      You nay sayers must not do jui jitsu. I as a brown belt can keep you one the ground period. But let's say for instance your super strong and post to try to stand, as soon as you post you just gave me a leg and probably and arm, then it's tap or snap time

      @@damiensouth1160 I also trained bjj for over ten years, competing and teaching. However as effective as it is, most is not useful on the street and can get you killed You need both it's better to be jack if all trades and master of none. Best to remove the ego it is not useful.

      Plus I most of the time I won't have to take you down I "slip" and wait for them to jump into my guard thinking they have an advantage cuz I'm on my back

    Show some videos of you actually sparring or a sanctioned fight. Only then should you be teaching. You hide behind phrases like "street rules" and "no holds barred". Well, mma is the closest you could get to a real fight, so do it! If your excuse to not do it is that there are rules such as no eye gouging then you're pathetic. Surely you got more skill than just eye gouging and crotch kicks.
    Guys do yourselves a fovour and stop following such no-names and join a proper striking/grappling gym to learn some self-defense.
