Hello, Mr. Lok! I wanted to tell you how much of an inspiration you are for me right now. I first saw you while trying to gain more confidence in self defense but now I've downloaded your new book F.U.Money and I am in awe. All of the teachings you've shared so far has been on my mind for a while. I want to thank you for helping me continuously kick my own ass into becoming a positive force in the world and in my own mind. I would love to hear a response if you were available and if you have some extra time, I would love to ask you some questions

Nice explanations. I whitness that twist of the forearm while waiting my turn in a karate tournament about 25 years ago. Attacker send a vertical downward kick to the head of the defender. The defender made a high block with his forearm with that twist at the exact right moment. That broke the tibia (shinbone) and the fibula of the attacker calling the end of that fight. I was impressed by that finesse of movement being a beginner at the time. That is a detail I will never forget.
Dan Lok, I first came across you in your business video. I didn't know you were a Wing Chun master too. You are the first Wing Chun teacher that break it down so I could understand and apply the movements. I will take your classes soon. Thank you for taking the time to systemize the movements in detail. XIE XIE, Mr. Lok.
Got here after watching ip man 4 salute to the legendary man and to all his disciples. Thank u for teaching this and preserving his teaching up until now.
Thanks for a very informative and engaging video Dan. Excellent work from you and all involved in performing the moves, shooting and editing. These are great moves, even for someone who is not going to take up Wing Chun but is studying another martial art and wants to add some tools for certain situations. The deception aspect of it is fascinating. Those Bill Gee finger strikes sneakily coming up and under into an attacker's face for example: great way to instantly break up his momentum, give you the space to apply another move and get away in a self defence situation.
Outstanding instructions in Wing Chun techniques. I have practiced shotokan and JKD for a half century and have found that Wing Chun uses less energy and is faster to deploy in a hostel environment. Thank you Sensei .

I've watch just about every wing chun/ JKD video you have and I love the knowledge in each one. I have always been very interested in learn the art but since this outbreak; is there anyone still teaching? Your lessons are amazing but face to face teaching would be better in my case.
Well done. I'm 65 now and started wing chun in 1995 under the Sunny Tang/ Moy Yat (R.I.P. ) system in Canada. Both Grand Masters are under the Yip Man lineage. I might be slower in age..but having wing chun knowledge it should benefit me. " A wing chun master should finish a fight in the first minute. " Sunny Tang ( Dun Wah )
Love it! The techniques are amazingly incorporated from animal movement of quick avoiding to instatntly hit. I like the fact of having to keep your posture solid and with quick move without moving the body along changing the course just in the end to give that extra power while keeping your balance unmoved. It really is about minimum move comparing to other disciplines with that end bite while keeping calm and confident at the base and being so fast in order to not leave a room (extra second for unnecesary swing) for the other person to have space to reach you. Great videos and great explanation. I am not a fighter only mentally but practiced gymnastics in teenage years and learned that somehow when you practice any move repetedly and very fast your last one before you loose energy is always the one you put most effort while applying free will without overthinking and attitude in last moment to do it. This one was always the best although does not always feels like it. Like a fast snake going for it but swiftly redirecting the power just as it bites. Animals are so pure and clever 👍🏻
I'm a first time viewer Dan. I grew up watching all of Bruce Lee's movies in the mid 70s. I'm a huge respector of his mastery. Your tutorials will be added to my martial Arts training for sure. That was a useful presentation.
Years ago I was a boxer, black belt TKD, full contact, etc. Now 82 years old. Watched with interest your Wing Chun videos. This is something, because I find it fascinating, that I can learn and practice in my advanced years. Living in Bellingham, close to Vancouver, where there must be instuctors, but as you know the border is closed. Do you know of anyone in the Bellingham area I can learn from?
You say you have studied for year's, but how many street fights have you had and found out how good your art is. That when you know your either just a study student of many many years with no street creed bro
Love the martial art videos Dan. I haven't really gotten into one until you started making these Wing Chun videos. Can't wait to learn more and maybe learn from you in person in the future!
I 1st saw Dan Lok on Facebook and Ig... I rly liked how he explained that just because u aren't rich doesn't mean u are poor and or can't be happy (just like Bob Marley said numbers don't end). Or the videos where he talks about focusing on your own path instead of others too much. Or the aspect of saving money... which many of us forget because the mindset is "why should I save if I don't have that much anyway" but step by step with patience u can achieve way more than u might think^^ Anyway, since I found out he is a fan of Bruce Lee too I rly started loving him not just as a mentor but as person. My life is in a bad state rn but looking up to this dude makes my days way better! ♡ [sry for my english]
Thank you for continuing to share your knowledge Sifu. I learned what I know of JKD through books and Paul Vunak videotapes. He trained under Sifu Inosanto, and I also trained under one of Paul's disciples for a brief time. Nowadays I'm learning from you as well, and many of the same techniques & principles apply.
Great explanation of techniques! I've had limited Wing Chun experience. I did 6 months in one class then that stopped due to interest dwindling! The Instructor really knew his stuff! Then years later I went to a different Wing Chun class which was a beginners class run by a nice woman. As nice as she was and knowledgeable I did not feel confident that what she was teaching would work in reality. But for all I know she might have been a totally tough chick lol! I loved how you explained how each technique worked. It would be interesting to see these techniques pressure tested!
Irony People disrespect wing Chun Same ones love Bruce Lee Everyone on the mma bandwagon now Bruce Lee is the father of mma Wing Chun is the father of JKD
Wow Dan! Thank you for this video. My husband & I just recently joined wing Chung academy & learning so much but still hard coz I didn’t understand techniques & why. Having watched your video had helped me understand & now, I’m so excited for our next class with a more somewhat educated mind. Just need fitness to improve to keep up & take pains better :). Looking forward to watching more of your videos with my husband. Thanks again
Dan I don’t know what we would do without you champ! Thanks so much! I am so blessed you uploaded this with great visual details. Bruce would be proud.
love the video... been wanting to begin some training for a while now but didnt have the time. With your videos I can at least begin some basic training at home... much appreciated
Great reminder to punch straight in, not circles like speedbag. The relaxed fist can then contract at impact, extra acceleration, cool. In our school we do the straight punches but also turning punches, so like the jkd example, to really add power. Love your vids. The chop is great too, basically a straight angled attack with “snap” that drives through the target. We’ve tried it lightly on the neck and it hurts. Also the whole body shoots the force into the strike.
Matthias633, I can see that you engage with me on my channel, and are serious about learning; I dont usually don this unless someone is serious. I have a challenge for you and everyone else reading this comment. Do you think this video is ONLY about the Top 7 Wing Chun Techniques or do you think there was another lesson hidden in this video? comment below, there is not right or wrong answer.
Dan Lok I’ve been studying wing chun for about 10 yrs, some of that time I didn’t go to class that much, or just went through the motions. In 2016 I finally completed the red sash level, still felt some uncertainty or ‘meh’. I then started a Krav Maga class in 2016 and it really opened my eyes to some different ideas and strategies, including some for when you fall or are knocked down. It was really good and I still practice some drills each week. I am not a natural athlete so some things may take me longer to learn, but everyone is different and I am making my skills better with time. I am not the best but a much better version of myself compared to when I started. Due to time, work, life constraints I stopped the Krav several months back. During the past year I am thinking more, watching concepts about Wing Chun, flow, boxing, Krav, etc, and seeking to move to the next level. I am only doing Wing Chun classes now, but seeking to incorporate additional things. Lately I feel more principles and techniques, not just because of mechanics but just, well, with the mind, heart, and intent, especially with my micro acceleration/ instant force/ snap / flow, if that makes sense. Sometimes ideas come into my head about situations, or a third person view, to help me think about new things or techniques (but not psychic, ha ha). I feel more on a path to improving now than before, but had I not tried a different style I don’t think I’d be growing as well. Here are some ideas about the video: 1. You learn by helping others learn. 2. Find enjoyment/fun in your training. 3. Forward intent in all strikes. 4. The head knowledge must advance to feel and proper action. 5. The body works as a unit; the wave of force flows from the ground up to the fist. 6. Slightly different punches can share similar principles. 7. Importance of relaxation, acceleration, and micro-acceleration/instant force. 8. Structure enhances power and force penetration. 9. Waist-stance power, yiu-ma, biu-ma. 10. The best strikes blend relaxation, rooting, acceleration, rotation, and snap/instant force. 11. Different martial arts can have common principles, features, and effectiveness. 12. Always keep learning. 😊🤜🤛 I would also like to learn more weapon defenses and drills and practice with them to build quality reactions and instincts
As someone like myself who is very active in Wing Tsun, I do appreciate these types of video's. Aside from my instruction, I find these very useful as an additional resource to enhance my training.
It will. Thanks to the Kung Fu practitioners, teachers, students, and actors like Lee, Li, Yen, Chan etc. that keep it alive in our conscious. It will never die.
I have a black belt in kempo..studied animal style kung fu, and tai chi qi gong. I'm on my 3rd month of wing chun and I've never felt so challenged or so rewarded. I'm seeing some serious potential in it. Thanks for sharing your mastery dan Lok. You are a good sifu.
Nice video, thanks! I studied JKD and related arts for the better part of 14 years. I was taught to snap my wrists with the straight blast, similar to the 1-3 inch punch. You mentioned there were many variations, is that one that you've seen and would you recommend it?
Thanks dude. Good stuff. I like the back of the wrist as well. It fits with the center line and can be done after a block with the same hand. It also attacks easily the neck, jaw, and temple.
When I first began training some years back, Wing Chun was of primary interest for me. Over the years I endeavoured to learn other methods which has proven fruitful, however I have since focused more fully on the origins and mechanics of Wing Chun through Christopher McDougall and with the benefit of patience with age, I am realising what a magnificent system it is which explains it's longevity. I thoroughly enjoy watching and listening to your videos as they are both highly informative and useful.👊👍❤️
Thank you for your patience y video 📸 Excellente Aqui y Ahora Eres Importante la pratique. Gracidao Gracidao siempre Adelante Gracidao Thank you very much.
When fighting in a street fight, Never overthink in a fight If you think too much you Will lose The fight, so never Think just fight & use your Wing chun skills

Dan Lok Sir , I am just new in this ,I watched Bruce Lee's movies and some videos and after that a feeling comes in my heart to learn this. But I don't know much about Wing Chun Techniques . Please tell me. 🙂
I see, what you are talking about, but MMA isn't a real fight, or to be more accurate it's not a real combat. MMA is a full-contact sport, so it's similar to a combat. How to apply it to a fight? Simple answer - sparring.
@@faridginanjar2562 Xu Xiaodong is a profesional fighter, so a match for him is another profesional fighter, because competition is way harder than regular sparring. And if you wanted a match opponent from him, practising Wing Chun, it woulb prabably a Sandamen or MMA fighter with Wing Chun as a main style, like Qi La La (I don't think he's recently experienced enough to fight Xiaodong). Donnie Yen Ji-dan is a bit old now, but anyway I would love to see him fighting with Xu Xiaodong.
Timotej Mareš i think i read somewhere direct from Donnie yen's mouth that his styles or forms of kungfu (which in his case wingchun ) is not for fighting in the ring but for good health. so it is not fair to get him involved. the wing chun master in this video should fight the xu bastard to prove the meaning of kungfu. all these talks and demonstrations are too theoretically and not workable in the rings!
I am learning the moves that you demonstrate as self defense in my "tool box" adding to my background training and fighting in boxing as well as in my Tai kwon do. Ive had many situations where Ive taken a disciplinary defense action by walking away from aggressive behaviour in confronting people simply by using words as they can be more powerful than having to fight someone. Its a very powerful art to have in regards to confrontation, meaning the certain attack moves you have shown and certainly I understand all the physics of such power in these strikes and yes I have had to use them but not to the degree of seriously harming someone but to the point of where the other person was not wanting to continue with anymore of his attack. In that aspect I have been lucky that I read the other persons ability and thru the body language and attitude I was able to visualize him already done. I believe thats another key part of the mechanics in the way you teach your students, am I correct, as they become more advanced in the art. I am not the type of person that is looking for fights nor do I care to engage in such demeanour as I find it senseless. What I mean in this is the after the bar closes fist-i-cuff drunken dumbass shit I see and hear almost every weekend in downtown Vancouver. It makes me wonder why these guys antagonize and provoke each other into this behaviour when they get all liquored up because usually one of them ends up being taken to jail because the other one ends up in the hospital or worst case the morgue, as a weapon is used in deadly force. Kinda dumb isnt it. To take your life and whatever it may be your future holds and flushing it down the drain. I do however like the practice of any martial arts for discipline and for self defense as you just never know when it may keep you alive if the case may arise. Your techniques are certainly a stopping power and the art is so explosive in attack form to take out someone and diffuse a situation so quickly is a good bit of knowledge to have. As any power of diffusion can be an action its knowing when to use it how to execute it and use it to stop attackers without killing someone is always my intial thought even before anything escalates into any strikes being thrown. My training in boxing was so similiar in the fighting you demonstrate as I drove so much power behind my punches by using my whole body mainly the hip force that I hit with tremendous strength. I trained very hard and daily in boxing jogging almost 20km a day on average, doing sit ups until I damn near puked, and push-ups two hand and one handed, and I mean alot of them. Along with the diet , sparring against some very good boxers in the club I was in ( private school- High School) boxing club, I was fast and deadly accurate with every punch. My left uppercut my most explosive fast knock out punch. I was at 120lbs and not an inch of fat on me back then with amazing leg strength and good eye visualization able to see amything coming at me. I didnt always block punches and man I was in some toe to toe brawls at some of the meets we travelled to but never lost a fight. Came very close but my uppercut k.o' d the toughest fighter I ever faced in the ring. Knocked him out with about 20 seconds left in a 3 round toe to toe exchange that was the most brutal fight I had. Ended up facing the same opponent in provincials later on, but his coach threw in the white towel before it started as he didnt want his boxer going thru what we did the first time around. Both of us kicked the living crap out of each other that first fight. I was ok with that and my coach had asked me before if I was ready to do that again . I told him yes of course, as I was a stronger more experienced fighter myself but really wasnt sure where my opponent was at but knew it would be another all out brawl like the first fight. But who knows what that outcome would have been since it didnt happen but we both walked away, we both walked away....breathing. That was a victory for both of us even though I won the fight without either throwing a punch. I carried that bit of power, so to speak, with me from that day on, that not fighting makes more a man out of a person than perhaps doing something you may regret doing. I like the way you explain and show how and where to strike an opponent and you are certainly from I hear and read a very smart and knowledgeable Master trained yourself by very well taught educators in your discipline passed down by the most amazing men to ever live and their dedication in martial arts is just truly something to be proud of humbly knowing that it will always live in those who learn and those who teach it. To meet anyone who has trained under such men would be an honour in itself. Im sure that you are very honoured yourself for what you have achieved. I am grateful to be able to watch your videos and teachings online, for that I thank you.

This one was always the best although does not always feels like it. Like a fast snake going for it but swiftly redirecting the power just as it bites. Animals are so pure and clever 👍🏻
These techniques are so easy to apply and are very practical. That’s the greatness of Wing Chung.
I'm a first time viewer Dan. I grew up watching all of Bruce Lee's movies in the mid 70s. I'm a huge respector of his mastery. Your tutorials will be added to my martial Arts training for sure.
That was a useful presentation.
Am just stunned by the fact that i didnt expect to see dan lock on this vedio..it is non of my expectations
Watching fight science led me here....ur an absolutely fascinating and effective teacher. Very impressive. I'm hooked.
Defending yourself is extremely important. Attacking the attacker's neck is mandatory, it's taught really well in this video.
Good detailed instruction, Dan, I'm not a very committed athlete or even an athlete but will remember and practice from your instructions
Thanks, Dan
Years ago I was a boxer, black belt TKD, full contact, etc. Now 82 years old. Watched with interest your Wing Chun videos. This is something, because I find it fascinating, that I can learn and practice in my advanced years. Living in Bellingham, close to Vancouver, where there must be instuctors, but as you know the border is closed. Do you know of anyone in the Bellingham area I can learn from?
Ive been studying for many many years. That was a very well presentation .... You nailed it..
You say you have studied for year's, but how many street fights have you had and found out how good your art is. That when you know your either just a study student of many many years with no street creed bro
You are a very good teacher. As a former student of Tai Zen your is very fluid. I bow in respect to you.
Love the martial art videos Dan. I haven't really gotten into one until you started making these Wing Chun videos. Can't wait to learn more and maybe learn from you in person in the future!
Ed, good. When the student is ready, the master appears.
Edit by saving I didn't mean just to keep it but to get to a point where u can rly start using it.
I like how Jason flinches when Dan suddenly goes from demo mode to full blast mode😂😂😂 thats when you know it’s real. 😂

Great stuff. Something I will definitely practice. Since Bruce Lee and IP Man. I have always been fascinated with the Wing Chung technique.
To no one self is to study oneself in action with another sparring partner.
Irony
People disrespect wing Chun
Same ones love Bruce Lee
Everyone on the mma bandwagon now
Bruce Lee is the father of mma
Wing Chun is the father of JKD
Love this, I'm building a mental library for martial arts; creating my own style.
THANK YOU MASTER DAN LOK , YOUR ACTUAL DEMO ARE SO CLEAR TO ADAPT THOSE INTERESTED PERSON IN SELF DEFENSE,GOD BLESS US
Dan I don’t know what we would do without you champ! Thanks so much! I am so blessed you uploaded this with great visual details. Bruce would be proud.
Extremely informative and detailed yet effortless to understand and follow. WELL DONE! Your teachings are expertly delivered. Thankyou for this.
Even though you are clearly holding back, when you start to actually move at normal speeds, the student does not want any part of the strikes
Can you blame him? ☯️
a legendary copywriter and wing chun expert.. you the man Dan!
love the video... been wanting to begin some training for a while now but didnt have the time. With your videos I can at least begin some basic training at home... much appreciated
Thank you Dan Lok, I like Your Style and Videos. Unrushed, Smooth, and Lots of Information. 🙏
Matthias633, good insights on your routines. Keep growing
Dan Lok i am jotting down ideas, thinking, will post result.
Here are some ideas about the video:
😊🤜🤛
I would also like to learn more weapon defenses and drills and practice with them to build quality reactions and instincts
You're great. I'd like to learn more wing chun from you.
As someone like myself who is very active in Wing Tsun, I do appreciate these types of video's. Aside from my instruction, I find these very useful as an additional resource to enhance my training.
Kung fu should live foever!
"Be water my friend"
Not Kung Fu or China only Bruce lee will live on
It will. Thanks to the Kung Fu practitioners, teachers, students, and actors like Lee, Li, Yen, Chan etc. that keep it alive in our conscious. It will never die.
I learned wing chun in Melbourne under William Cheung.. this is all good stuff here 👍
Very successful in demonstrating VT wrong.

i accidentally saw the video, and saw it to the end, well done, well explained and captivating, thank you master !
Thank you, Dan! Could you show the wing-chun forms also?
can not wait to start training wing chun next year, its so different to every martial art I've and I've done ALLOT
i like your video to show very helpful ..
regards all and GODBLESS..
Super Joeitall, good question. Maybe I will discuss it in a future video on which ones I recommend the most
He teaches like we are right there and showing us the correct forms.
Great video Dan,
Should u please share the techniques how to block wrestling fighters by using JKD or wing chung?
Thank you!
I appreciate the lessons with sincerity, right action and thurough😢 explanation. Thank you.
JKD is the best
JKD is a great path and gives you room to grow
So it's not the best?
Sam Reynolds it was made with the intention that you grow and make it yours so its the best for you
Hi Master Dan Lok, I like your teaching video you tube you are the bepation and good Master too.🙏🙏🙏
It is the person not the style
I learnt wing chun when I was younger for around 8 yrs, till my teens, now looking at getting back into it.
Great video Dan. I also love the shirt man!
I absolutely love the way you simplify and do comparisons
Very informative and great instruction. Striking from and protecting the center line is something everyone should learn.
Sifu !!! Thank you for correcting me
I need to practice the last
moment EXPLOSION.
RELAX & EXPLODE !!!!
be water my friend🔥👌
did you know how to use Nunchaku?😇😇🔥
I never understood the basic principals of Kung Fu/Wing Chun but the way you explain it makes sense. It works!
I think that upon close examination the Chum Kiu Form shows similar body mechanics to Western boxing .
Thank you for your patience y video 📸 Excellente Aqui y Ahora Eres Importante la pratique. Gracidao Gracidao siempre Adelante Gracidao Thank you very much.
Awesome techniques Dan, all remind me of Ip Man. I'll practice those.
When fighting in a street fight,

As a new learner of this art I found your video very very exceptional.
Do you know the ABSOLUTE TOP 7 WING CHUN TECHNIQUES that every martial artist should Master?

i like wing chun
Goodforce, liking Wing Chun or Martial Arts is how things get started.
You're on the path, now continue & apply
Dan Lok this is the best channel I have found. Very precious instructions.
Dan can you make a video on how to make a fist what part you are going to hit the person with
Dan Lok Sir , I am just new in this ,I watched Bruce Lee's movies and some videos and after that a feeling comes in my heart to learn this. But I don't know much about Wing Chun Techniques . Please tell me. 🙂
Thank you bro from a Maori man from New Zealand AOTEAROA 👍
Ever just notice this white guy just nodding the whole time
Yes man robot.
And blinking when nodding.
white guy?
Some handsome mustached man I only noticed his girl punches.
And his Centreline punches suck lol
I do karate but I am in love with the wing chun. Learned alot here will definitely practice. Do upload more wing chun techniques please.
I think the most important is how to apply it in real fight.
MMA or UFC
I see, what you are talking about, but MMA isn't a real fight, or to be more accurate it's not a real combat. MMA is a full-contact sport, so it's similar to a combat. How to apply it to a fight? Simple answer - sparring.
@@timotejmares only sandaman can make xu xiadong bleeding ?
@@faridginanjar2562 Xu Xiaodong is a profesional fighter, so a match for him is another profesional fighter, because competition is way harder than regular sparring. And if you wanted a match opponent from him, practising Wing Chun, it woulb prabably a Sandamen or MMA fighter with Wing Chun as a main style, like Qi La La (I don't think he's recently experienced enough to fight Xiaodong). Donnie Yen Ji-dan is a bit old now, but anyway I would love to see him fighting with Xu Xiaodong.
@@timotejmares I agree donnie yen vs xu xiaodong

Hey Dan.. it was awesome..can yu teach me few kick shots
Great stuff. Your videos are practical and engaging. I practice Ben Cohen American Kenpo and have taken a strong interest in sticky hands and JKD. Working with peers and soon a WC Dummy.
Dan: Obviously you've heard of the bong-saw the tan-saw and the fox-saw.
Me: The what now? 😂
Love the demo! Studied Wing Chun with Duncan Leung and several other instructors though out the years! Great job in your demo and explanation!
Respect to Sifu Duncan Leung. Great teaching and skills.

It's been really nice seeing your video about "Top 7 Wing Chung Techniques". Really learnt a lot from your style. I'm a learner would be learning from your videos. I want to train myself. God knows better why I'm training myself.
