A beast of a track, that riff, the drumming, JPJ matching the guitar and then Robert’s vocals leaving no ambiguity as to what it’s about, no surprising it’s considered one of the best rock songs!
When I saw what you were about to listen to, I grinned as just new what was about to hit you, & didn't stop grinning throughout. It's one helluva tune 🥰
One of the greatest Zeppelin songs, so happy to hear you liked it!!
Jimmy Page and that bow on the guitar strings.🤣 I remembered Zep being asked what this song was about, they all laughed and stated “Exactly What It Sounds Like and What The Lyrics Clearly Say!
'cooler than the other side of the pillow' That's a good one. Happy birthday Polo
What a great way to describe this. ❤
This is the song that I'm having played at my wake❤
Happy birthday! Drummer John Bohnam’s yell at 8:44 😊
“ Cooler than the other side of a pillow “ made me laugh sf hard! 🤣😂
Don't forget, when you listen to these songs, about the year that they came out and were hits. That was a raw song back in the day. Yes, I was there...lol...and still love them.
I bought myself the Celebration Day video from Led Zeppelin for my last birthday! What an amazing concert that would have been! Wishing you the best on your day!
I remember the first time i heard this song.......I thought how are they going to top this!! Ive loved ZEPPELIN for as long as i can remember. BEST BAND EVER!!!
This song outraged so many parents back then.... I'm 58 and loved these guys since day 1. I have 2 older siblings, oneplayed Zepp, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath etc while the other was the Beatles, CCR, Cat Stevens etc..... I was SOOOOOO lucky!
58 here too. I have 4 older siblings, 2 liked Rock--thank God. I got a bit of everything. Have a killer Vinyl collection. One artist people skip a lot that I know we all loved back in the day was Linda Ronstadt. I really miss the pure, honest female vocals from that era.
@Missunderstood103 oh I agree! Some stellar female vocalists you just don't hear anymore
"He's cooler than the other side of the pillow!"😂 Is that an original? In 76 years, that's a first!❤ Hope all is well in the Land! It's where I saw Zeppelin in 1969! I may be old , but I got to see all the great bands!😊
The late great Stuart Scott of ESPN coined that phrase!
I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert…in THE 70’s! Nuff said.
Saw them 1970 w Ten Years After!
He died on me and I had tickets for Cleveland 1980. Was blessed to see Plant 3 times, Jimmy with the Firm , Jimmy and Robert in 95 !!!! ✊ your so 🍀
Saw them 3rd row in 77 NYC. Just wow!
I saw them in 1968, in a small club, before they got famous, just a few feet away.
I just love it when Polo says “Oooff,” followed by the chuckle of disbelief… just love it!
Even Robert Plant plays an instrument
It's called "The Voice of the Gods"
He's the only one who knows how to play it
Best description of he’s amazing vocals, greatest range & tone of vocals ever.
and he is badass on the harmonica
@@satori03 yes he is, he really gets the bluesy sound on it. I wish he had played it more then he did though, not every song of course, just more.
He plays guitar too. And they all sing.
@@RockChick63174 he plays guitar more so for writing music.
We were so spoiled musically in the 70’s. Didn’t even realize until lately.
Happy Birthday, Polo! Hope you have an amazing day. The line "I wanna be your back door man" is an old blues riff. The husband or regular boyfriend came in through the front door and the "lover" came in through the back door. I just love how much you love Led Zeppelin. The sound track of my life from the late '60s through the '70s, there was Yes, LZ, Pink Floyd, ELP, The Moody Blues, Genesis, Jethro Tull, etc. etc. and you are there digging all of it. It's a joy to watch you hear these amazing bands and songs for your first time. =)
Back door man in this context is not "the door"
@@Cchan53 Yes, it is. This is a KNOWN blues term. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_Door_Man#:~:text=5%20Sources-,Lyrics,before%20the%20husband%20comes%20home.
This is one of their best jams! I've been listening to them since the 70s!😊
Happy birthday baby, treat yourself nice and enjoy it all.
Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and the legendary John Bonham. They defined rock and roll. Forever legends.
Happy Birthday 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂take that trip, have that cake, read that book, enjoy
Now my REACT to Polo - Smooth/calming voice, super genuine, cool cat!
Well now it’s after Midnight, so Happy Birthday Sir.
...must turn it up.... chills -- 55 years later...
I just want to make sure you Knew. Abbey road came out same year and beetle were doing ‘come together’ and ‘here comes the sun’ while the stones put out ‘gimme shelter’ and ‘you can’t always get what you want’ which are all great songs. But this is next level different and game changing. 1969. Wish I had been a teenager back then. My brother was only 1 and I was a wink in my father’s eye.
Exactly! They were so strong, different than anyone, powerful and with the series front man on vicals!!!
I absolutely love this for you. Getting to experience Zepplin as an adult for the first time. Must be a boat load of chills for you man. Happy belated.
Happy Birthday, Polo!!. This is my favorite Led Zeppelin song- but honestly I love them all and listen to them still, to this day. I'm 66, but feel 21 in my heart. I was lucky enough to see them at Riverfront in Cincinnati in the 70's❤❤
Happy Birthday ! Many more. Led Zeppelin is so great. And there's so much more to go yet. Jon Bonham is just crazy on drums.
Happy birthday old mate.
My wife bought me tickets to see Suzi Quatro on the 23rd, my 70th birthday, haven't seen Suzi live since 1975.
You keep on rockin' Polo, I love what you do.
I saw Suzi about 5 years ago. She's still got it!
🎉🎂🎈🎁 Happy birthday Polo! 🎂🎈🎁🎉
Happiest of birthdays! Self care is a wonderful thing to gift to yourself! When you said read and go biking I was thinking wouldn't that be nice.... Here in the mountains of NH we had a snow storm and received a few inches of snow (we were already at flood stage before the snow.) In these mountains there is a 5th season (I didn't know that until I moved here 2 years ago) called Mud Season! Winter, Mud, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Hope you enjoy your birthday trip as much as you enjoy listening to great music!
Mud season's the best, not too cold, no traffic, no people and no bugs!
Happy Birthday & great review!! Led Zeppelin is mind blowing
Happy Birthday! 🎉 This is a great song to give to yourself! You cant go wrong with Led Zeppelin. "Don't tell me you've never got the Led out!?" - School of Rock.
POLOOOOOO!!! Another great BREAKDOWN of ZEP! I'm so fortunate to have lived during THAT TIME, thru THIS TIME... To watch the youngsters react the same way wth amazement, that my generation did! BADASSARY IS LED ZEP!!🙄🤘
Those birthday plans sound like the best kind. I understand the desire to turn down the thoughts and read. Hope you get to enjoy doing that. Also, Led Zeppelin is my all-time favorite band since I found them late in 1978. Thank you.
Led Zeppelin is the GOAT!!!!! I saw them in concert back in the day and I will never ever forget that experience.
Happy Birthday!🎉
I saw Led Zeppelin back in 1972 San Bernadino,Ca.
I seen them in Chicago '72 when i was 20 ys old. The best concert i've seen until i seen them again '73! Outstanding!!!
Happy Birthday 🎉🎉 Hope you do go on your trip. Tennessee is a wonderful place for someone who enjoys music. Beautiful country to lay down a blanket and read a book under the beautiful sky, peaceful and majestic. At night go listen to some great music. God bless.
Happy Birthday! Nearly every Led Zeppelin song is IMHO, are masterpieces. Many of them caused my family to yell “turn down that music” hey, if it’s too loud you’re too old! I saw Zep. Twice in one week in 1977 in NYC. I was 16, everyone did drugs in those days! Enjoy your B-day and I love your reactions ❤
Happy Birthday, Polo. Zep is always great. Nice reaction.
Great reaction to one of the greatest songs by these GOATS we call Led Zeppelin
Happy Birthday man 🎉 mines coming up April. Going kayaking.
Led Zeppelin was my medicine through out my life.
Happy Birthday!! Same day as my sista! How bout some Wanton Song by Zeppelin or anything by them! ❤
This is another song that makes me hurt my senior citizen self. I sprained my wrist on my steering wheel banging on it a couple of years ago. I know this song as soon as the first bar comes on the radio
@starlaryer4165
We're going 2 be interesting folk in the 'retirement communities'.
"back door man" is a blues reference. Hubby heads for work out the front door and lover comes in the back door....or runs out the back door when hubby comes home.
I haven't had many birthday parties ether...didn't have them in my family. But HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Love that you love the mighty Led Zep ❤
Same here
The first time I heard this my grandmother was nearby, and after it was over, I asked her if it wasn’t the most beautiful song she had ever heard and was absolutely astonished when she said “No.” I was 13 at the time, and the remains of Led Zeppelin is still my favorite band to this day, at age 68. _Kashmir_ is my cell phone’s ringtone!
