Cars.com's Dave Thomas takes a look at the 2009 Dodge Journey. It competes with the Ford Edge and Toyota Highlander. Shot and produced by: Sarah Gersh Edited by: Lindsay Bjerregaard
Really cause my family owns one and its awesome! When someone is in the passenger seat, It is a lil hard to see, but the blindspots are cut down well enough. We use the compartments all the time. Like the ones under the 2nd row. Throw some ice bags in there, and a few juice boxes, the kids love being able to get thier own drinks. I think the thing is awesome.
This car is horrible and a death trap. Almost hit when lost of drive and acceleration. This is 7000 miles and 5 months of ownership. HORRIBLE car. Fair warning, DEATH TRAP.
This is a car for people with kids. $20,000 and good mileage is a good deal. Lifetime Powertrain Warantee too. I looked at one at my Dodge dealer, it's pretty well made, solid feeling. Not my cuppa tea, but for a young couple with some rug rats , a pretty decent car.
It’s 2021 now and I’ve owned a 2010 with a 3.5 liter engine since new. It has 90,000 miles (mostly city) on it. I’ve had no major issues. I’ve just replaced suspension and front and rear end components. It’s ready for another 90,000 miles. I replace oil and filter every 3000 miles. No engine problem and no transmission problem. I believe it will go 300,000+. People always put Chrysler down but I believe they make good vehicles. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.
@wmralder I guess the hundreds who are having premature brake wear do not know how to drive as well? Or when my car stalled and would not go while floored in traffic and almost got hit? What about riding at 50 mph and rpms hit 4000 and no accerlation as if dropped in neutral. look at the horrible quality interior and vehicle make. Look at a dodge journey forum and read. Chrysler isn't even domestic anymore.
@sideburns2009 If you're implying that Chrysler has paid back their loans I believe you actually mean GM. Fiat has stated clearly that they will pay back their loans on the agreed schedule rather than leave themselves short of cash for R&D. They know they'll need it and rightly so.
@wmralder After some research, I did find that I was wrong about Chrysler. I believe they just had their plans ready in that time span, but, you should definitely do some research. GM paid back their loans, with ANOTHER government loan.
@wmralder Google dodge journey forum and check them out. You will see the issues. There are a few with no issues but I traded mine in at 7,000 miles and took the negative with it. It was a death trap and happy to own a Ford Escape now. 5 months of ownership and 7,000 miles with the horrible issues we had, it was time to go. Just keep a check on your brakes every 7,000 miles, since my rotors needed turned when traded as well. Be careful when driving it if you own one is all I can say.
@04redmach1 Sorry you're having problems...I think I'll leave it at that. I can't subscribe to the problems you seem to be having as I haven't had them in over 30,000 kms of driving to date..not a one. So if there's a problem out there I haven't seen it and I haven't heard of anything like the trouble you've had from the many people I know who do have Journeys.
@davidhalifax Actually, the third row is more than useful enough for occasional use. Just be careful to put the smallest passengers (small adults or children) back there and adjust the second row and first row forward or back as needed. I've never had a problem finding a combination that fits our needs.
@04redmach1 I suggest that you learn how to drive. I even admit that most of the problems that Toyota is having mostly relate to people who can't drive.
Great review thank you! I am looking to purchase one soon, and was looking at a 2009 this exact color! The leg space does not worry me because i have three children ages 2 5 and 7 so they should fit fine! Which brings me to a question, would two car seats fit ok in the second row?
You can get an info display on the dash where the cubby is but there is no cubby.
yeah, sorry my raw talking points got posted. That's definitely not something meant to go live.

this car should not have a 3rd row seating.
