    Bikehack: if you cant find the source of the rattling noise on your bike, just add a maraca and youll be riding with a nice soundtrack beat

    I like the fact that you can't really jump...I can't jump that well either, and in my early 40s, dont know that i ever will. Your lack of jumping is one of the best qualities about your videos. Every other YT MTB creator is always sending jumps, so it's nice to watch someone who has a fear like a lot of us do.

    • @VisUnchained
      @VisUnchained 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I totally agree. Also in my early 40s and started sending some jumps last year and paid the price for it. Better for me to be afraid of the jumps and keep enjoying the rides.

      I'm the same way but am committed to learning. Have a new bike with more suspension and feel much safer now. I would not use your age to limit you if you are in good health. People tend to say "If I were in my 20's"...then it's "if I were in my 30's"....and then they have lost all that time when they could have been becoming a better and stronger rider.

    I'm glad you got a chance to visit @BKXC. Thanks for showcasing the hard work the Redding Trail Alliance has done, not only maintaining existing trails during the pandemic, but also adding new trails in 2020 too. When you get your jump skills dialed you can post a video like @BCPOV showing a clean Enticer jump line top to bottom. (FYI the Carr Fire in July/August 2018 was the culprit for all the destruction you saw. All of those blackened trees will continue to fall down over the next few years creating even more work for the trail crews).

    The fires that tore through my local trails in SoCal were pretty bad, but now, after all that rain, the hills that were once burned, brown, and dead, are verdant once again with such a deep shade of green grass. Riding it after the fire looked like we were on another planet. Now after the rains, it looks like another country.

    • @petedog9581
      @petedog9581 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will burn again. People are living and recreating in more and more remote places than ever. These areas are supposed to burn periodically, for the very reasons you described in your comment. The problem is most fires are caused by human action both directly and indirectly. Every vid I see of Cali recently, from SoCal to where BKXC is, burned and charred up. I hope this Spring/Summer brings some rain.

    Gotta commend the research for every video. The Swasey trails are great and RTA takes great care of them. They did get massively torched in the 2018 Carr Fire along with all the trails in Whiskeytown. Many of the trails in Whiskeytown are still closed for a variety of reason. Luckily Swasey didn’t burn again in last years Zogg fire. Thanks for showing off and advocating for my local trails! (The flowers are often called shooting stars, you should find them in the Bay Area too!)

    I am a Redding resident. Yes, hot in the summer June 1st to September 31st......100 to 115 degrees F....BUT.....always 60 to 70 at sunrise. I ride from 5:00am to 11:00 am for temperatures of 60 to 90 degrees on average. Also remember it does not rain through these dates either with 0.3 inches average per month, or one very light day of rain every 6 weeks....desert weather.

I do the same to my kids when we're out; they don't appreciate it :-) I thought it was cool that we live near an old wagon trail that George Washington used when he crossed the Occoquan river on his way to Yorktown and the teen wasn't impressed. Nice! You should try an oval chain ring. Just got one, tried it on some major climbs. All I can say is I'm never going back to circles. It's unreal how much more torque, traction and power it gives you. It's like adding a 13th gear on a 1x12. Almost 2 extra gears.

    I have lived in Redding the last 10 months and there are 5 trails worth riding if you are just there for a day or two. Snail trail, Enticer, Mule mountain summit, french fry and top of the world. Everything else is great for xc riding and exploration but I would just stick to these 5!

    • @pll66
