Even if they made 10 Semi’s/ month it would get them out into the world and into the collective consciousness and at the cost of producing 100 CyberTrucks out of 1000s?

I find this puzzling. Yes, the Semi delivered to PepsiCo last year used 2170 cells. 4680 cell production is ramping up at Giga Texas, but used exclusively for the Cybertruck. Drew stated that the ramp would stay ahead of CT production, but not exceed CT needs as there was no other use for them??? They were briefly installed in some Model Y's built there. Semi (and new Roadster) were announced as using 4680 cells and this would contribute to their cost benefit. Now it turns out that the 4680 is costing significantly more than anticipated. Elon has even suggested that 4680 may be discontinued if cost cannot be much reduced by next year. However, I think that is a empty threat meant to spur on the engineers working on it. Elon made the same statement about the Raptor 3 engine for Starship. Whether or not Tesla uses 2170 cells in the Semi made by Panasonic or LG is a moot point. I am sure either one could be used, but Panasonic ones are made right there in the next building from where Semi is being made.
They do. That's a likely reason they're trying to balance them out.

Off topic, but why don't Tesla or others build data centers in places like Labrador Canada? They would have free cooling in the winter, very cheep power and as much power as they want.

You are definitely missing the frustration and anger effect of not being able to get the Cybertruck at the 20k lower price. This impact grows daily. Let’s give an extreme example. Let’s say a year from now Tesla is still going through their reservation list and charging the extra 20k. That will be about 1 1/2 years since first introduction of the vehicle. How many more people on the reservation list will have suffered from frustration and anger? So what I’m saying is there is a balance to when that 20k needs to be stopped. Hopefully Tesla recognizes the date to maximize sales and minimize frustration and anger. 😢😢😢

Pretty good analysis of Tesla’s core business.. FSD and robotaxi are still “what if’s” however. The rate of improvement in FSD over the next 3 months will be very telling. So far, updates beyond 12.3.3 have been sideways steps.
I’ve always said Optimus would be ready before FSD - because it’s easier to train AI to get a robot to do a specific job in a controlled environment than it is to get AI to do a complex task ie drive a car in an uncontrolled environment. Looks like that’s what’s going to happen……….

Just over a year ago Musk was touting that as a gamechanger, now it hardly gets mentioned. Expect robotaxis to play out the same way, lots of hype, promises of massive hikes in the share price then silence.
If, Over the next 12-24 months they can reduce the price, increase range with better battery chemistry and increase reliability of FSD greatly from 12.3, then I don’t see how it won’t be the #1 bestselling pickup truck in the world.
I think the fact that it looks hideous, has a towing range of 90 miles, can’t off-road worth a damn and you need to drop the tailgate to load a bicycle all count against it being the #1 truck.
@@tatata1543 if you need to tow over long distances, you’ll probably get a diesel. But that’s not most the pickup market. The battery needs to get better on Cybertruck and it will. Off road performance is fine.

Toyota creates some of the ugliest cars this universe has ever had the displeasure of bearing eyes to yet they sell well. I don't think looks matter in a car as much unless you're buying a hypercar or a classic

he has balance, focus, goals and a plan to improve life in general ...the skill sets to achieve all that .... or teams up with the people who do ... determination and the ability to overcome difficulties/mistakes/problems ... not to mention a fairly decent parent and business person ... not afraid to admit he is not perfect/ or has weaknesses ... etc etc encourages/challenges others to be their best... has a sense of humor ... in spite of his warts .... has pushed (is pushing) forward to achieve something that is meaningful for himself, his family and people in general etc ... if Isaac Asimov had been a businessman (I-robot/the Foundation Trilogy) he might have been a little like Elon - God Bless !

I am very skeptical about timing. I am also skeptical about the seriousness of Elon building this lower cost vehicle on model 3 lines and/or model Y lines and about Elon building anything other than robotaxi’s using Gen 3. I also don’t believe FSD will be advanced enough in 2026 to be used autonomously only. As good as it is, there are way too many errors and new versions only shine the light on new errors.

When Randy starts talking in the third person I want to stop listening... 😀 However, when he's right, he's right. 2026 will be the year of convergence, Elon's vision will be proven to be what we all know it is, and Tesla (or the sum of its parts if it's broken up) will be the biggest company of all times with revenues that dwarf all others.

Personally, I really don't care about TSLA - I trade it for the grandkids and show them how wrong the market is every day.
However, in 180 days, an extension event will happen in America for the EV market.
I plan to be 100% out of my positions - something I've never done in 60 years of trading stocks
but that event will happen on 11/5/24 - and I will have the grandkids money out of TSLA by that day.

Tesla was a dream .. when the reality hit the dream is coming to an end .. people want an inexpensive way to travel to work while they drive their own car . These ev cars are not the money savers we were told .. car rentals are losing their shirts .
