You are a boomer, the generation where everyone is retiring the same time, like me. As soon as I retired, I started cleaning out my office space. You are so normal, we love you.
August 2nd, 2023. You are officially 2 months in on your retirement journey. You are currently showing 22.3 Thousand subscribers. Thank you for the message to take care of yourself. I really needed to hear it today. I'm sure YT brought you to me because I do watch declutter videos and make them on my other channel, but having realized that my clutter journey was a response to trauma, some days it is hard to deal with the emotions that the stuff helped bury. So thank you. It was a definitely needed message.
I want to take the contents of my entire 1 bedroom condo , have junk haulers pack it all up and haul it away. I can’t breathe! Please continue- we are so appreciative❤️👏👏👏👏❤️🌈🌈🌈❤️👏👏👏👏❤️🌈🌈❤️
You are so personable, which is why we are all watching you and you are not trying to make any of us feel LESS THAN because we have "stuff". Thank you and God bless

Lot of baby boomers out here. So glad you have shared all this wisdom with us. I started the decluttering when pandemic hit. I have started again. I haven’t missed anything I have gotten rid of. I prefer to donate or give away. Don’t want to deal with yard sale or outright selling. Too much for me. Just want it gone! Doesn’t take much for one or two people. My stuff makes me feel smothered so it goes to others. My rooms still feel much too full so I am getting rid of some smaller pieces of furniture. Every time I make another round I find more to get rid of. Wishing you continued blessing in your new endeavor.

Not retired yet but dealing with changes in my life that have required making changes in my home and live. Keep making videos about dealing with things that we seniors face, big or small. It helps others to watch. Good to see a senior male open his life to the world.
One of the videos from your channel came up on my TH-cam even though I was not looking for anything about decluttering. Now I've watched at least 5 of your videos! I need to get rid of the old carpet in my living room, but there is some furniture on it that I can't move. Guess I will have to hire someone, but I've been procrastinating. I am in a walk-up with 4 flights to my apartment in Manhattan. Been here since 1977. I did a major decluttering in 2008 (30 minutes a day for a year) and more later, and I don't buy things like I used to, but the carpet needs to go. Retired 5-1/2 years now!
Appreciate Your Humor, & being so down to Earth.. & I do Believe in decluttering slowly & ThoughtFULLy.. letting go without *regret* ! Thank YOU, take Care of Your Self!✌🏼💙👊🏼
I stumbled on your channel today, quite by accident...or not by accident at all!! You have an authenticity that is heartwarming and uplifting. I've only watched 3 or 4 of your videos so far -- the first being your "NRM Decluttering 35 years of...stuff!" Your message spoke to me in a genuine way. I will continue to watch your videos as you continue on this journey (I believe we are the same age and in similar stages of life) and, hopefully, learn from your generous insights. Thank for sharing your messages from your life!
I’ll be 57 in December. Do you know how many people I’ve seen on You Tube who talk about decluttering in this stage of life? YOU. You are it! The Gen X and Boomer generations are sadly underrepresented on this topic. Thank you for starting this channel!
I just wanted to say there's actually lots of people "our age" wanting to declutter. There are three professional declutterers on TH-cam that have joined together and created a one-year course with a private FB page. 95% are women and I'm guessing 60% are over 50. For people younger the problem is us. Are people who are doting grandparents and insist on gifting their grandkids with toys they don't need are all of this stuff you saved for your child when they got older and they don't want it but we insist they take it. Give your kid a choice do they want their first grade picture or not. Don't be upset if they say no just because you've kept boxes of their stuff in your basement for 27 years. Don't make our bad choices over the years into their decluttering in the future. It's up to the older generation to stop making the younger generation have to declutter oir stuff because we wouldn't. The truth is when my mom died at 88 we had to unassemble and get rid of everything in her apartment in one day. Most of it sadly went into the dumpster all of us kept a few things that we wanted and pictures, and it's four years later and I'm just now giving myself permission to donate her stuff to Habitat. The stuff I thought I needed keep because it was important to her. I have no family I have no children my sisters have already told me when the time comes they're not even going to come they're going to have somebody with a dumpster come and empty my condo. None of their kids want their stuff either. I was angry at first and now I realized it was a gift as it allowed me to get rid of stuff that I might have wanted to hold on to for them, their kids. They both live over a thousand miles away and have very busy lives, one still wotks full time and are older too of course.
It’s interesting to me bc I am not a senior but I feel like there aren’t enough voices in the retirement category talking about this which is why I loved the video and subscribed. I feel like you bring something refreshing and new to the table when it comes to decluttering and I’m looking to learn from some of the wisdom you may have gathered over the years.
There is not enough content providers for the retirement community, and you are filling a part of that void. We are all trying to figure out what we want and need for this chapter in our lives and you are on point. Thank you for sharing. Blessings!
My husband and I are in our early 70s with one child 39 years of age. She has 3 small children. I need to declutter. We have stuff from our great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents. My daughter & her husband don't want most of it. I need to weed though everything so I don't burden her. I need your calm voice talking about decluttering.
I have been working on Swedish death cleaning and we are planning to retire in a few years. I like how you mentioned "essentialism", that feels so close to what I am trying to accomplish. My husband is slowly coming around to it to. I like how real you are. I just viewed your bedroom essentialism video.
TH-cam algorithm for the win! Your declutter video popped up in my suggestions and I'm so glad it did. Looking forward to more of your content. I watch a lot of decluttering vids but as others have said, I'm older and don't have children. It's nice to see a contemporary exploring our life stage. All the best 🌻🍄Edit - Oh dear, don't worry about repeating your success in every video. Consistency is key, think "Chicago" vs Frampton 😊
Your video came up as a suggestion for me this morning too. Loved listening to you. You sound so sincere. I am retired as well and have been working on decluttering. My kids are not interested in anything I have so I too am trying to figure out what to do with all it. I look forward to listening to more of your videos.
My aunt recently realized that no one wants all of her loved possessions and has a hard time getting to grips with that. This is quite common now, things have really changed from what they were some decades ago. It is interesting to see someone like you who is ready to talk about decluttering at this time of life since many people are facing this reality.
Yes. I have three daughters. They have already picked out what they want of my mother's when she's gone. It could all fit in the backseat of a single car. But they are the only things that will bring them memories.
Just found your channel and I'm thrilled! I am also 65 and retired. I have been decluttering for years. It feels so good. I also feel good about the fact that I won't leave a bunch of junk for my kids to handle. Keep up the good work. I look forward to following you.
Just keep being you! I personally am drawn to “day in my life” videos done by someone who is just genuinely dealing with life in a positive, honest way. And it’s nice getting a male perspective on everything too! 😁
I’m newly 54. A big collector & collector of other people’s collections…because someone has to love it. And then I wanted to become a FT reseller which added to the nonsense. Now I’m finding it hard to part with things. Excuse I want to make money from it. But it all holds me hostage now. And that makes me sad. But I know I don’t want to leave this mess to my children to have to deal with. Thank you for your encouraging words. And congratulations on your success here!🎉
I just watched you for the first time yesterday. Your decluttering video came up on my feed. I subscribed because I enjoyed your personality, and the clarity of how you express your thoughts. You come across as a natural leader, and a gentle person. I'm interested to hear your insights on life, and to follow your story. I'm glad that others have also noticed your channel and enjoyed it. Well done!
Spot-on! Take care of and prioritize you. And, feeling comfortable in your space. I’m on this journey right now. You’re an example, and it’s comforting to see that I’m not the only one on the journey. Please keep the videos coming.
Ultimately, that's the purpose of this channel. Retired living, food, travel, saving some $$, essentialism, food, Chattanooga, coffee, did I mention food? LOL
Your personality and sincerity shine through. You HAVE "hit a nerve" for me and I'm sure for so many others. Inspiring, motivating, and heart-warming. Congratulations on your success, and thank you!
Love reading all of these comments about you Tim! And to everyone who has commented or will be reading this comment before they post about how personable and likable Tim is in his videos. I can say he is just as much in real life and proud to call him a friend. Keep up the great work Tim
Two open-hearted friends...T&T (TSquared😂)... Your gratitude for your friendship is palpable and MY gratitude for finding this authentic and articulate retiree's channel is deep. Don't change a thing! We have all struck gold🎉🎉🎉❤
I'm not even retired....I'm 30 with 2 kids, but I was recommended your video. Your calming voice and realness made me realize you can start essentialism anytime. I am in a transition in my family to move. I am looking at my stuff with new eyes and a new mindset of what can I live without and what is essential to my family's life. Thank you and I wish you the best.
A friend gave me a bit of wisdom when she was moving across the country. She was packing up her stuff and I asked her how she decided what to bring and what to leave, did she just pick out what she did not want. She said no, she only picked out what she DID want. And right then I realized why I had more stuff than she had. Different mind set.
Please don't overthink your content based on your subscriber size. Continue with your family as your inspiration and you can't go wrong. It's real. It's compelling, and it's comforting. I'm in my 50s but also going through the end of one career and facing an empty nest next month. I'm pretty happy about seeing what's next for me and living intentionally. Thank you for sharing your stories.
Sorry for your loss Stephanie. Two years isn't very long...be sure the decisions you make about what to give are yours and not people pressuring you. Bless your heart. ❤

@@stephaniebate6814 I might be overly polite and apologetic when it isn't necessary. 😁 What is your fav craft and/or mode of expression? I like to draw, paint, make cards & framed backdrops with pressed dried flowers, write (books for children) & illustrate, create meaningful crafts- which included "bombs" made from T.P. tubes so my grandsons could keep Godzilla from destroying the Army 🤣. Very important. They pulled up an air raid siren sound byte on a phone while keeping Godzilla controlled. I used to enjoy cooking but...well why dirty dishes just for me? I’m a retired woman in the Uk and I enjoyed your video on clearing excess belongings. I’d never seen a man doing such a video. I think you said that you had just retired in June. I have heard it said by a number of people this side of the pond that when men retire they often don’t know what to do with themselves and follow their wives/partners around like shadows. As you enter retirement you may well notice not only how you are coping but how others in the same situation are. You’ve decided to review your excess belongings as a start. You probably never had time before. You said you had more to do so no doubt there will be more videos. You are looking around at your new life….as indeed are so many others in the same situation. Who knows what you will come up with. I shall follow you with interest.
I discovered your channel just yesterday, 7/5/23, and loved your video on decluttering. I then went into your channel to watch more videos, and learn a little about you. You come across as a breath of fresh air for we seniors. I love your photo shots on your other channel, and I really appreciate the way your channels are organized to make it easy to go back and forth from one category to the next. Right now you are at 2.74K subscribers, and I suspect in a few days you will definitely be over 4K. We all appreciate an intelligent, humorous and interesting video, and you have met all those objectives. Looking forward to your next videos!
You’re welcome! For me, it’s nice to see a content creator in my age group, similar interests and season of life. I wish you lots of success 👍. I’ll keep watching 🙂🇨🇦
I just now found your video through the algorithm in my feed. I’m glad to see you do this. I’m 58 and I need to do more decluttering in my house. I just stalled for a bit, but when the weather cools. Mainly my linen closet, garage and kitchen.
I just started watching your channel today. I'm sold! I want to thank you for being you and making my day and many days to come. Folks on here are right. Your easy and calming to watch.
Retired June 6th. I ❤ your video on decluttering. Went and cleaned out a closet it feels so good. Gave away my 4th of July decorations to the nursing home I had worked at for many years. It was hard but so rewarding.
I just discovered your channel and it’s encouraging because I’ve been decluttering for some time. It’s happening, slowly, but it’s happening. Got rid of two pieces of furniture last year and four pieces this year so far. Going through clothes, jewelry and everything I can think of. There are things that I will keep , some I will donate and some I want to sell. Now I have to figure out how to sell which I find intimidating and I know I have to get past that. I’m in my seventies and also retired and I find that all my friends around this age are going through the same thing. It’s amazing how easy it is to accumulate things and how hard to get rid of them. It’s freeing - less to clean, maintain and worry about. Your videos are inspiring.
Hi from the UK. There are SO many of us Boomers and Oldies, and I think that for the last 20 years or so, many of us feel a bit lost, a bit out of synch, with the modern world we live in. A few signposts from someone who has wisdom and experience, a deeply thinking person who is nevertheless very practical....well, that is what so many of us are searching for, and I'm sure your channel will quickly become a space for sharing the positives of growing old, as well as the challenges it presents. Don't thank us......thank YOU for opening up this space. 🤗🤗🤗
No idea how you popped up on my feed but I saw the decluttering and watched. I subscribed because I hit 62 next month and am busy weeding through possessions as well Btw you already have enough to get monetized? LOL at the Frampton reference
Hi...I ran into your channel quite by accident. Your down-to-earth persona is so refreshing to see. So many content creators are so far removed from reality. I am in the midst of declutteting all of the "treasures" accumulated over the past 23 years. When I'm going through things, I stop and think "why in the world did I save that?" As a coffee lover myself, I thought your coffee video was so cute. I'm looking forward to more of your videos...keep up the great work!
For me first, it was the title you posted. I am going through a season of decluttering myself while trying to move at the same time. Second, it was your channel name, "The New Retired Me." My husband is freshly retired due to medical reasons, and it's causing him to go through life changes that are almost paralyzing him with handling it all. I'm very grateful to you for posting your experiences. We all need a community to know we're not alone. Thank you.
Essentialism. Now, there's a word that puts it into perspective. Thank you! My husband will retire in a few years, and we will be moving from one coast to the other. So yesterday, when your video came up on my feed, I couldn't click on it fast enough. With the stress of years' worth of "stuff," I've been watching minimalist videos in hopes of finding the answer on ways to deal with my clutter nightmare. But I realize I don't want to throw everything out and become a minimalist. I just want only what I need so that when we make this retirement move, we have very little to deal with. So, this word "Essentialism" can really be the tool I've been looking for in this process. Because packing up the entire contents of a house and moving it out of state? No. That's not happening at our age. Lol. Thanks again, and congratulations on your channel's growth.
I just found your videos today and have seen 4 and I enjoy your content. I am retired and enjoying my life as well. DE junking is what hooked me on watching you as I have slowly been doing the same. I discovered that my children and grandchild does not want my "stuff" so, I get the joy of doing something about it! yay..... not. I get it. When my last living parent, my mom passed away, it took us a year to go through all their stuff. Some we took, most we didn't and had to find a way to rid of the rest .... during covid. It did not go quickly. Anyways thank you for the honesty and progress of your process. Yup, I'm along for the ride and am subscribing after hitting the go button! Happy trails new friend!

It's a real channel.We seniors need honesty!👍
Yes. Yes we do!
And we love the subject of decluttering from a senior perspective!
I'm so glad I jumped on the bandwagon. I hate to miss a good bandwagon! 😁
LOL. Thanks for joining the journey!

My 82 year old mom sent the link to one of your videos to all three of her daughters. It was exactly what I needed!
Your Mom is golden!
You have so much to teach us. I am a retiree 7 years out. Thanks for helping, bless you.
You're a photographer ! that's why the videos are so crisp and nice!
I love listening to you. It relaxes me. Thank you and lots of love from Germany.😀
There are so many of us (seniors) and we are all trying to declutter...this topic is so on point you can't go wrong.
Thank you!
Blessings!
Exactly
I’m trying my best, keep going I tell myself 😮
You and your videos are a breath of fresh air. Thank you.
Your sincerity is part of your appeal. Thank you for saying to take care of ourselves. I sure appreciated that. Good luck with your channel goals!
Haha, love this as I should be decluttering but I’m choosing to binge your videos instead🤣
Watching from the uk 🇬🇧, plenty of room on you tube for wisdom and maturity, keep making great content.
You popped up in my algorithm! As a 30ish year old, I've been trying to watch creators above 40 to get different perspectives.
Well, I'm way above 40, so you've hit the mother lode! LOL
that's really cool that you're looking for different perspectives. If people of all ages and backgrounds did that, the world would be saner
Chicago for the win! :)
@@cyber4052same here 😏
We had that Peter Frampton album, too! Also, bought the second one and listened to it maybe once.
Very smart to keep it and sell all together
Your video came up as a suggestion for me this morning too. Loved listening to you. You sound so sincere. I am retired as well and have been working on decluttering. My kids are not interested in anything I have so I too am trying to figure out what to do with all it. I look forward to listening to more of your videos.
thanks again
My aunt recently realized that no one wants all of her loved possessions and has a hard time getting to grips with that. This is quite common now, things have really changed from what they were some decades ago. It is interesting to see someone like you who is ready to talk about decluttering at this time of life since many people are facing this reality.
Yes. I have three daughters. They have already picked out what they want of my mother's when she's gone. It could all fit in the backseat of a single car. But they are the only things that will bring them memories.
@Michelle_EmmMe too. Not gonna leave my daughter with my stuff! Got rid of it!
My aunt was also came to this realisation and it crashed her...but she did it !
@@akontarini Well done her, it is not easy at all but can be freeing 🙂
Thanks for reminding everyone…take care of you.
The more I took off my walls, the more "light" I felt!!!! Walls are ok to be bare!👍
I would love to watch this type of personality
Fantastic. We’ve been doing Swedish Death Cleaning for about five weeks. It’s amazing. Decluttering and making our lives better.
Best wishes 💜
I’m sure this is just the beginning. I think you have filled a gap in the TH-cam world. Just keep being you. Cheers to your success 🥂
Well done!
I'm greatly humbled. Thank you so much!
This is so true. He has a lovely personality combined with a gift for speaking.
Yes, that is true. I like your approach, I ŵatched the same video and enjoyed it immensely. Best regards from a new subscriber.
Ditto.
Spot-on! Take care of and prioritize you. And, feeling comfortable in your space. I’m on this journey right now. You’re an example, and it’s comforting to see that I’m not the only one on the journey. Please keep the videos coming.
How about letting us ride with you in retirement... whatever that looks like. Many of us are starting this new chapter of life too!
Ultimately, that's the purpose of this channel. Retired living, food, travel, saving some $$, essentialism, food, Chattanooga, coffee, did I mention food? LOL
Oh man is so good to have you around ! thank you and stay !! Lisa
👍
😊
Decluttering is a hot topic! Plus, you are level headed, well spoken, and your story is interesting. Thanks!
💯
😊
Can't wait to see more. I need all the inspiration I can get. I'll be here :)
Your personality and sincerity shine through. You HAVE "hit a nerve" for me and I'm sure for so many others. Inspiring, motivating, and heart-warming. Congratulations on your success, and thank you!
😊
Awe! 🥹
Love reading all of these comments about you Tim! And to everyone who has commented or will be reading this comment before they post about how personable and likable Tim is in his videos. I can say he is just as much in real life and proud to call him a friend. Keep up the great work Tim

We have all struck gold🎉🎉🎉❤
you're blessed to have Tim as a real-life friend...I hope to find a friend like him someday
Now over 16,000! So cool!
Glückwunsch aus Deutschland 😊
Thank you🎉
I'm not even retired....I'm 30 with 2 kids, but I was recommended your video.
It’s because you ARE sincere. There are a lot of “older” people out there that need acknowledgement. YOU are being acknowledged. :-)
😊 same here
👍
You're just real!
Inspiration! I’ve been decluttering all day, my darling husband died two years ago and it is time to move stuff and just keep a few treasures
Sorry for your loss Stephanie. Two years isn't very long...be sure the decisions you make about what to give are yours and not people pressuring you. Bless your heart. ❤

It has been nothing but a joy to claim back space .

Photography is a love as well, although while it used to be a daily pleasure, is now an on-off hobby, I suppose. I'm a never-retired Mom of 4. They're all grown but you never stop being "Mom". My oldest dau visited New Z. during a trip with her University orchestra. Pretty sure I used more words than you did. 🐧
I am watching this 3 weeks later on the 31st July and you are now at over 21k subscribers so you must be absolutely overwhelmed by now.l only found you by accident the other day, it waa meant to be.Well done you certainly motivated me here in Wales.
Thank you so much!
Words of wisdom, crafty!
You are a sweetheart.
Love your attitude 🤙
Smiling for you.
Thank you for joining my journey!
6K Subscribers... just Wow 😍
Now 9K+ Subscribers.... just Wow! 😲
I’m a teacher and you seem like a lovely man and an administrator I would have been lucky to work for.
I just started watching your channel today. I'm sold! I want to thank you for being you and making my day and many days to come. Folks on here are right. Your easy and calming to watch.
😊 calming is the magic word here
Retired June 6th. I ❤ your video on decluttering. Went and cleaned out a closet it feels so good. Gave away my 4th of July decorations to the nursing home I had worked at for many years. It was hard but so rewarding.
Happy Retirement!
😊
I nearly cried at the end🥲
Fabulous and well done! I'm one of your new subscribers! You are very easy to listen to and appeal to those of us of a certain age and stage of life.
I love you, Dad! And I love your pillows! 😅😜
Thank you, Brittany! ❤️❤️❤️
No idea how you popped up on my feed but I saw the decluttering and watched. I subscribed because I hit 62 next month and am busy weeding through possessions as well
Btw you already have enough to get monetized?
LOL at the Frampton reference
I'm thinking I'll hit 4K watch hours tomorrow. It is amazing what one simple little video can do. Thank you for taking the chance and subscribing!
I love decluttering content! Great channel 🎉🎉🎉!!!
Thank you! And thanks for the coffee plug. LOL
I laughed at the Peter Frampton comment😂 but I think your channel will keep growing and I look forward to watching more of your videos!
Thank you.
You do not have too many pillows! I love that you make your bed and style it nicely. Home is your haven. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!
It is a nice change of opinion from a mans perspective🥰🇨🇦
😊
Love the analogy that decluttering is like peeling an onion. You keep taking off another layer.
My retirement date is July 31. Keto/carnivore, yes, (dropped 50 lbs during the pandemic). Decluttering , oh my yes. Your video has got me revved up. Keep em coming.
Happy Retirement!
