He made up a religion and, through that, took advantage of their faith, manipulating his victems just so he could rob them of their life's savings and their personal freedom's. what deeply disturbed me is the allegations that Jesus Christ was messing around with young boys and men that was attributed to Hubbard comment to say this highly offensive thing that I don't believe is true at all.sort of angered the when I read it and I'm still irritated from it
I'm sure now that the Evil Lord Xenu story is well documented in the media that Scientology is having record low conversion rates. However, I recommend the HBO doc "Going Clear" to understand how people got attracted to it in the first place. Scientology is entirely the creation of LRH. He seems to be a man who was very creative and very troubled. But it's not just the mind of Hubbard but also his life that shaped the religion and it was a much different movement in say 1960 than 1980. The psychological community that he later denounced was one whose acceptance he initially sought. After completing Dianetics in '52 he petitioned the APA to essentially canonized his work. They didn't so he essentially ostracized them from his followers. I can't say for certain that the man started as a fraud. I'm sure he told lies like every human being does. The greatest question to me concerning his life is whether he was insane and actually believed his teachings or if he forced himself to believe because of the course he'd committed to. Like David Miscaviage, I think he had no choice but to believe. He did seem to genuinely want to help people initially, but like all cult leaders his organization turned dark once he became obsessed with security, and like all cult leaders that obsession consumed his every thought.
Goswellen Jorae Tommy I think Miscaviage is full of shit, and wonder how much of it he actually believes. He seems to be just a little short dude with a combination of Messianic and Napoleanic Complex, perhaps extreme narcissism as well. just seems intent on spreading his control over more and more people. I cite his speech, when LRH died, Miscaviage goes in front of all those people and basically gives LRH the Muhammed death, that he ascended to a higher plane, and didn't die but just discarded his body so he could continue he research lol. Your point about Mormons as well, I wonder if that's all LRH was, another Warren Jeffs type, or Charles Manson or David Koresh. What all those men had in common was an extremely high sex drive, and started their cults as a way to set themselves up with a harem and in Koresh and Jeffs' cases their tastes were for extremely young women. The way LRH had people sign the billion year contracts, extending their committment to him to all their future reincarnations, once you get past the absurdity of that notion you can see it for what it is: a device to elicit COMPLETE CONTROL over his followers for the duration of their existences. Sounds like a man who wanted no one to ever say "no" to him. Which then makes it not much of a leap to speculate that the goal which motivated the desire to gain such control would be to have no one - male or female, old or young - ever deny him sexual satisfaction.
"it increases one's knowingness" this guy is fantastic. how amazing is it that we have this footage? he really is a marketing genius, he's selling NOTHING and millions of people are buying it. it's like having footage of jesus or muhammad...this is really great. for those of you who attend churches, synagogues, temples, etc. or read the bible and pray. this is where it all started. charisma and self delusion made popular and perpetuated through hagiography and charisma and self delusion.
