The amount of people that believe that simple arrangements are easy to play is unbelievable. This man is a living metronome. One note off and the whole arena feels it. Pop artists may often overshoot when choosing a drummer, sure, but you need a real professional to play like this.
Solid performance and played exactly what the artist wants. Samples from the album and everything. I don’t know why everyone is tripping out. He’s only playing with one of the worlds biggest pop artists. One of the best kind of gigs there are. With all the connections and experience he has, he can push his career in any direction he wants.

You can tell that he is a killer drummer just by watching him play this ”easy” stuff. I know it takes some serious talent to perform this so cleanly. He could propably play anything anyone asked him to but the music does not need anything else. Mad respect.

But being seriously, this is what I think: To be a profesional musician who lives doing what he loves, requires at least 99% of the time, to SERVE THE MUSIC. And that means, sometimes... playing only quarter notes on the bass drum for 3 minutes. But I know that at the bottom of comentaries, it's the bad vibe against Billie Eilish and what she supposed to represent... and I know that's true, cause there are some killer tracks from Nine Inch Nails, that only requires few beats on the drums... and Josh Freese (or nowdays Ilan Rubin), keeps it SMOOTH and passionate. This is like scoring 100% FC on the easiest song on guitar hero. Sure, it’s really easy to get 95%, maybe 99%, but to play every single note absolutely perfectly is still pretty tough.

I've seen great drummers have a very hard time just keeping a simple beat, not having to play any fills every measure. It's not restraint when you enjoy playing just what you have to play, no more no less. And this guy is sure having a ball, excellent way to use the trigger pads!!
Yeah, he needs to be able to trigger the exact midi samples (drum sounds) used on each track. some tracks may have 3 different snares depending on the section, some may have other little noises or samples that need to be triggered so this falls to the drummer usually. His set up is geared so that he is comfortable playing and he can reproduce every sound he is required to reproduce. The dude saying he could have gotten away with a snare and hat is just wrong and has been in many other parts of this comment section. As a metal drummer myself the thing I find unnecessary is when other metal drummers have 7 toms, now that’s unnecessary.
