I agree. There are a few "Witcher 1 game movie" videos here on youtube, but they all suck. Either they didn't add enough content to understand the events of witcher 1- just a bunch of cutscenes cobbled together. Or they put too much in, where you are watching a full playthrough- with all the unnecessary details, when you just wanted to get caught up in the story. This one is just perfect. This youtuber did a great job. Bravo.

@@TheDoctorwho747 Yes, of course it does. The games take place literally directly after the books. They dont directly spoil the books or the show, but by playing them you will accidentally get spoiled on characters, events, you will see who is alive or dead. ect.ect. Best just read the books first. Dont even bother with last wish tbh, just start with Blood of Elves book 1 and read up to and finish book5. last wish is literally what the netflix season1 is based upon, just read it after 5 if you still care.

It’s hilarious how much better the second Witcher is compared to this for being only 4 years newer. The combat in this game and the voice acting is straight out of 2001
still it's the only part of the trilogy based on books, and considered the best Witcher game by many fans

@@shiningnight12 Well technically, he regressed from Book Geralt because of his amnesia and went back to being Book Geralt when he regained his memory
This Geralt plows women left and right.... Witcher style
They basically are different characters. W1 Geralt had just woken from his amnesia, he (or rather his personality) is barely weeks old. He doesn't know any of the other characters, and doesn't even remember Ciri and Yennefer exist. Then he recovers his memory in W2, so by W3 he is Book Geralt (with novels worth of character development, and a personality over a hundred of years old) plus the new experiences post-Amnesia (Witcher 1 and 2).

Well it would be if it were'nt for your transparent greediness with all those add.
I mean come on 70 adds, one every 10 minutes. I havent been through all of it already but it says that at some potentialy good moments an add will come stop your fun.
I believe you need that add money but you should try to put those adds at some minor moments if you really care to share the best viewing experience of your work.
How incredibly long did it take to render and upload this beast if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks so much for uploading this. This has been a great way to get the backstory to Witcher 3. I bought both 1 and 2 and intended to play through them, but upon reading that the first one can take up towards 40 hrs, I looked on youtube instead. This has been great company while scripting mods for Witcher 3! :)
Well,..didnt you want at leaast 40 hours of gameplay in a game? I mean,with Morrowind it was like 200 hours to play and do everything. Why would you buy a game if not for the time it takes to play it.Just asking,not being rude or anything. :}

These games may be the best adaptation ever. The didn't just adapt the books, they continued their plot keeping the essence perfectly.
even though my first game of this series is the witcher 3, going back here really helps me apreceate what we now have with the witcher 3, but i didn't expect many of the same things that i love from TW3 to be in any of the older games, but i can see the devs pretty much followed the same formula in creating TW3, but they upgraded it in visuals 100% and gameplay, the animations on this game look really clunky but i understand it was due to their team being very small and the engine limitations to work with back then.
but over all, even though these games are old and don't look as good, it's good to see they followed the same formula in creating these games and i hope it follows for witcher 4 as well.

Me too, i got TW3 for Christmas, played it for a bit, got tired and put it back on the shelf. I picked it up again in quarantine and I’m HOOKED. I would play the 1st but I heard it’s practically unplayable and dated now, so yeah. I’d rather watch this lol

Although this is not the complete list of romances in the first Witcher game. I remember there was optional villager with a basket in Chapter 1 who you have to meet at certain time of the day (2PM iirc) and then do a quest for her first. Anyways props to the author!

This game deserves a remake.
Why? They'd just remake it with Geralt being even more geriatric. I mean,.he is now looking a bit long in the tooth to be killing monsters. How much older looking would they make him?If he gets too old,it wont be fun to play him anymore. I'm not really into Witcher 3 because of that. I keep thinking that he's got to have arthritis now,bad knees,etc. Most games dont make their hero's grow really really old.

Well I just finished watching this. There were some boring moments sure but it was nice to see how the story actually unfolds itself rather than just watching a summary video. The Bad Guys in this game/movie (and every OTHER game/movie in YT, for that matter) remind me of the native Americans in Mark Twain's essay on James Fenimore Cooper's literary mistakes (very droll, indeed; I highly recommend it). After setting up all of the improbabilities and impossibilities in the "Deerslayer" books, Twain remarks on the natives who have climbed trees in order to jump down onto the hero's barge as it passes beneath them and wreak havoc. As the barge reaches the first tree, the native jumps onto the deck and is knocked unconscious by the fall. This is repeated under the second, third and fourth trees - the deck is now littered with unconscious natives. By the time the barge reaches the next tree, its deck has passed beyond the tree, so the leaper-from-the-tree falls . . . into the water - and this recurs with the next several leapers. Twain received a lot of criticism for his attack on an American Literary Icon, but anyone who has read Cooper will get the point - and will probably laugh him/her/theirself silly!Over 50 years after first encountering this gem of trenchant - and hilarious! - literary criticism, it STILL makes me laugh! The developers of these games must have taken Cooper as their model for creating stupid villains!

so I havent played the first two games, I watched the show and am reading Last Wish, if I watch this will it spoil any of the books? And is it really necessary to watch the cutscenes of the first two games?
The striga fight (The very first part of this video) is actually one of the chapters in the book The Last Wish, which is also episode 3 of the Netflix show.
As for spoilers... the story of the games happen right after the books. So references to the books and characters from them do appear in the games, but I'd say nothing that really ruins your book-reading experience.

Man. 2007 games really didn't look this bad lol. CD Project was really punching above their weight class (and I think they still are, given how Cyberpunk truned out). I'm glad they're ambitious, though. TW2 was a huge step up and had multiple moments that will stick with me. TW3 was excellent through- and-through.
I'd like to see a more zoomed in Witcher game (less open world, more tightly crafted world. Can maybe do some Metroidvania type stuff with all the tools Geralt has too). I really liked the emphasis on preparing for new monsters in the second game too (The third game was more or less just 'press Witcher Sense and click the shiny thing'). I liked hunting down books and supplies in the second game.

Honestly, I never played the first two games. I have played the wild hunt and all the dlc's. I knew I should play the old ones but never got around to it. There are many old games that I want to play, like Morrowind and Oblivion and of course Witcher 1&2.
