The screenwriter's have obviously forgotten that Alf's wife was knocked down by a car about 2 months before because if i was a councillor and my wife got knocked down i'd be the first in line to represent the occupants of corrie.

That entire scene with Vera talking while stuffing her mouth full of food. She was vile back then in every way.
Realistic acting however. Shows the show was directed to be as real life as possible compared to the polished robotic style of acting today

I've always felt Tracy's passing fancy for Doug was based more on spite than lust. She knew he was keen on her mother and so put herself between them to ruin things. I think Tracy was very much her Dad's daughter, and I don't mean Ken, I mean Ray Langton: he was a troublemaker and she had the tendency for maliciousness early on, too. Look how she turned out later!

Lol you’re right, she was pretty much the devil incarnate from the start!! And yet somehow the writers seem to change her character in the later years into more of a sweet old dear, not very plausible tbh
She is horrible and has been for years, she has only got more bitter and twisted as time has gone on.
I love Vera. Have since she came into the soap, this is the first time I’ve actually hated her character! I hate how much she stands by her son! I understand a mother’s love but she’s ridiculous and it’s so hard to watch!!

I started watching 1977 over the pandemic and made it here now. if I recall they said it were a shotgun wedding of sorts. Vera was already preggo, which maybe explains her loyalty to her one and only!

She knows full well what Jack did to her....Her hormones are gone now, and us women loose sympathy for cheating husbands.....Notice Jack doesn't leave her.. Hes lucky to have her.
Guessing this is where they decided to REALLY flip Terry's character. The death of Lisa is a good way to explain why he became the heartless despicable character he did. If you think that's the same character who fought to be with Andrea Clayton and their child they had together and the despair he was in when she moved away to how he suddenly doesn't care about Tommy in the slightest 🤔🤷🏻♂️
Seems like Denise is supposed to be a revived Elsie Tanner. They've tried to make her identical to Elsie in every way.
Also, it's unreal how many women Mike and Ken have coincidentally "shared". 😬

I don't know why they had Audrey get knocked down if it didn't change anything. Surely that would have been the point they solved the traffic issue. I think Lisa would have been a good long term character. Pity they killed her off.

Something amusing: During the segment when Des is standing by himself, you can see what I take to be a microphgone in the upper right corner of the frame, lol. I was a little surprised that this made it past the editing stage.
Happened a lot over the years. My first job in tv in 1986, as a studio boom operator, you couldn't always see the vision clearly on the old monitors plus camera operators weren't tight enough with their shots.
I wish Deidre would do something with that bush she calls hair!! It looks horrible!!!

I know Doug ( Brian Hibbert) isnt in Corrie long, as other comments have said, seems a shame as he was a likable character, the scriptwriters should have kept him on judging by the shitty actors they hired not long afterwards.
I really liked Brians band The Flying Pickets! I loved their harmonising voices & rockabilly attire.
At the moment, i think the storyline is dull & trying to be too political, with less humour

Ken is such a drama queen. He still holds a grudge against Mike for something that happened 10 YEARS earlier. Dierdre moved on, Mike moved on, Ken refused to move on and made life difficult over and over again.

The driver who hit Lisa just said he wasn’t even doing 30(is that faster than 30mph? Because my first thought was 30mph?!?! There is NO WAY she would be dead. I got hit by a car doing 25 mph in the sixth grade , i turned away from it, it hit me in the bum😊 and I didn’t even have a bruise) so I’m wondering how fast that is, would it really kill her??
He meant 30mph which is the speed limit for most residential areas in GB, we have the same system over here except we drive on the left side of the road. Lisa was crouched down though wasn’t she? So that might have explained it, perhaps she just got unlucky.
I had a friend who walked out in front of a car. Car was doing less than 20mph.
My friend was knocked off his feet and banged his head on the road.
He died three days later from a brain hemorrhage.
The driver was mortified... He had done nothing wrong.
