    Jean Alexander was an amazing actor - never appreciated in her lifetime, yes - the writers were brilliant but her delivery was exceptional. Hilda (Jean) was a one off, bless her.

    I am so glad to see these great episodes, I have tried to watch 2022 episodes and I can't, it is so depressing, crying every 10 minutes, I was the biggest fan. I couldn't wait for Sunday's tea and toast with the wife watching corrie. Now it has sadly gone to Shite!!

    Many years ago when I was in my 20s I used to work as a catering assistant at UWIC and at first when I worked there I lived in lodgings in Penylan where they had a very spoilt Alsatian that lived there and then I moved into a bedsitting room in Roath where I lived for 15 years and left there back in 2015 so my circumstances back then were similar to Gloria's.
    The Edwardian parks in Penylan by the Roath Brook have saved my sanity during these hard times!

    Bill has known Elaine for literally a couple of weeks when they suddenly decide to get married, and then they actually get married a couple of weeks after that. He then leaves the business and home he's only recently set up to go and live somewhere else entirely! The whole storyline seems so rushed, and the fact that barely anyone seems surprised at what's happening is baffling. I can't stand whiney Kevin (Old Shouty, as I like to call him), but I can see his point in some ways! Really enjoying these old episodes - love Hilda and Bet, and Betty too...and Mike...

    interesting to see nick stringer back in the bar there, just before he moved on to the bill as ron smollett. a number of other faces have appeared on the street before moving onto the bill. kevin lloyd as the manager of the graffiti club. and even billy walker made a walk-on appearance in one episode of the bill, as a smooth-tongued rogue who conned a woman out of her savings.

    Gordon should have being the landlord of the rovers he is all man. his charming good looking and has a good personality . where bet lynch was aggressiveness smartalic comments to the customers who didn't atone to her ways. she had to rely on Alec Gilroy two years later to bail her her out in keeping the rovers return. From going to liquidation if Gordon was in charge that wouldn't happen to him he knew how to handle everyday running of a licence house and the up keeps of keeping it above board in terms of profit. And loss. where bet lynch was only subordinate under Annie walker all those years she didn't have to handle ordering of beverages paying of wages and employing bar staff . but Gordon would he knew the profit margins at the end of the day between cost and spend. He even told Sarah ridley at his interview about expansion of the rovers out on to Rosemond street where you have all the passing motorist trade and the would see the sign which capture the punters eye and the profit margins that would make by introducing a better bar food facilities more salubrious client tell

    IMHO Corrie went downhill from this year onwards - I personally feel that they should of married Bet with Gordon Lewis. Why, because he was her opposite and he could in his own, funny way be entertaining like he was in 1981.

    • @alexanderjones9572
      @alexanderjones9572 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think Bet and Gordon Lewis would’ve been a far worse pairing than Bet and Alec Gilroy. Mind you, Gordon did seem to have had a personality transplant in December 1984, so you never know...
