Before singing this song, Hua Chenyu said, "Perhaps some of you have experienced the loss of someone very important in your life. It can be your family member, or a beautiful relationship. I've also lost someone very dear to me. So this song "Dear Friend" is dedicated to a "friend" of mine."
And the lyrics read, ". . .After so many years, Oh friend, My longing for you, is so strong at this moment. Yet we are so far apart. Friend, so far apart. Oh friend. . ."
I guess this "friend" has been passed away.
After finishing this song, Hua Chenyu said, "I hope that everyone has their own image and story in mind when they listen to this song."
Li Jieting was the director of SuperBoy 2013. After the 5-3 finals, she was diagnosed with leukemia. In the end, Hua Chenyu won the championship and wished Li Jieting a "speedy recovery". He's the only one mentioned the name of Li Jieting at his closing speech.
However, Li Jieting finally couldn't recover and passed away in Sep 2015. I guess this song is dedicated to her.
