I think it is almost everywhere, it is expensive to raise a child in this economy.
I wouldn't even plan to have a child until I am financially and emotionally mature enough to raise one. Right now I just don't have the bandwidth to raise one.

Absolutely right! Everywhere it's really expensive to raise a child unless one is financially well-off

It's a global issue, I think. People cannot even provide enough for themselves. To even have one child already demands commitment.
Ironically, there are people who couldn't care less and produce children without thinking of their well being. After the children are born, they don't even give them proper well being and attention. Just hire a nanny and they continue being busy in their work and lifestyle.
I know because I have a cousin who is like that. His child now hangs out almost all day with a nanny since my cousin and his wife are too busy at work and pursuing new (not even their first) college degrees. The kid only sees his parents on Sunday, and that's only if the parents don't already have fun plans with friends. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Poor kid, I hope he doesn't grow up into a troubled child. He's practically just alive as a 'milestone target' of his parents.

As part of the young generation I also think twice about having a family and child.

Ooh God, I'm 37 years old and in a few months I'll be 38 years old..
I'm married but don't have children yet and I have 3 dogs and the costs are already expensive so raising human children is up to my Almighty God because our 9 year relationship has always been in a LDR.
I don't expect much in this situation but we still have hope 😊

Tbh. Raising children is and always have been a very expensive commitment. I think the younger gen is just not willing to go through what the older gen goes through.

We can argue that it’s much more expensive if you compare to the minimum wage which rarely increases. Another point is the difference expectations. Thai middle class these days are avoiding public schools because of so many issues and private school is expensive. The money that you pay for private schools can send 3 children to public schools but they choose to pay for one higher quality education rather than 3 unreliable education.

@@yothiga yea. But back in the days . Everything was simple and standards of living ain't high . Back in the days , what degree is needed ? Why do U need to spend money on games , pop mart , Buble tea. Yes they do buy popsicles but not as much as current . Our standard of living went up .

One also enough . I also would buy almost everything secondhand then resell or donate baby goods when the kid is older. I would not buy toys either. He/she can play and take care of our dogs to learn empathy & responsibility

Toys are for cognitive development, not alone to learn about empathy and responsibility. Kindly, look more about the said thing.

Good documentary! I'm surprised that Thailand has a birth rate problem. Always thought they have big families.

This is very depressing...most of Asia is experiencing aging population issues . I hope they are not aborting those innocent kids.

As a Thai who had lived in Singapore and Japan ( declining population ) and reject to have kid, I admire those raising kid as it takes much dedication. Thailand is not a welfare state , it cost a lot in parenting. But poor people have 3-4 kids wishing them to take care of parents when they become old. But we will be fine importing foreign workers like Singapore and Japan.

This is true. I second this as a Thai. The reason can be seen in the video, especially to the ones that live far off from the capital. They are struggling to get make end meets.

Most Thai people do not go to work in South Korea. There are only Thai people from the northeastern region. Or in Thai it is called Isaan region. It is the poorest region in Thailand. but has a population of over 22 million people who are of Lao descent Habits and ways of thinking are very different from most Thai people. Because they did not receive a good education. Most prostitutes in Thailand also come from the Isaan region.
