Qui-Gon with his lightsaber melted several layers of reinforced steel in the Phantom Menace when he tried to get on the bridge of a ship. Entire limbs could be cut off with a single blow if you made the wrong move during a duel, a lightsaber back in the day used to be a scary SCARY weapon. Vader brought some of that terror of wielding a lightsaber back in the iconic Rogue One scene but since then you can slowly see the demise of this weapon.

That is nonsense. Who believes lightsabers burn hotter than our sun? No species would be able to get near that type of energy and heat. A starship would melt or disintegrate if it got too close to the sun yet it takes a lightsaber minutes to melt and cut through a door in order for the wielder to get to the other side.
So, that is illogical even for a fantasy world. Physics doesn't work the same way in that universe but it would be way out of whack if the lightsaber actually emitted and focused that much energy.

@@hosurosh4846 well Anakin/Vader survived his injuries for the exact same reason, it’s not like the idea of anger fueling the dark side to keep you alive was something George Lucas made up just for Maul. He basically said if Anakin can survive for that reason why can’t someone like Maul who’s filled with just as much if not more rage and desire for revenge? George has talked about how he wanted to push the idea that the Jedi are able to exist and retain their consciousness after death, but the Sith aren’t so they just cling to life for as long as they can through any means possible, even supernatural ones. And it’s not like Maul was brought back for no reason either, George wanted to set up Maul as the main villain for his version of the sequel trilogy. Fin got put in a bacta tank. Kolto pretty much can heal any wound. That’s what’s in a bacta tank. Kylo didn’t really get that badly damaged when her lightsaber barely grazed him. Most of the stab wounds in older Star Wars have people getting stabbed in the chest, vital areas. Nowadays they actually incorporate realistic swordplay into the duels where people stab other places then just the chest. This when stabbed in a non lethal area people will survive. Or they take into consideration who gets stabbed, ie the inquisitor in kenobi is an alien that has multiple copies of organs.

The Sabine one is especially weird because she's basically fully healed a few days later.
A few scenes before, we see ahsoka slicing through metal with her lightsabers, so it's safe to assume that a blade going through you would leave a hole the same thickness all the way through you. If it hits nothing vital and cauterises the wound, then it's not instantly fatal, but there's still a lot of stuff to regrow. We see her moving and talking and with nothing but a little pink scar to show for it.

Reminder Star wars has fantastic examples of how to lose but not die. Examples being Dooku cutting vital tendons with quick slashes on obiwan and taking a hand off anakin in episode 2 or giving a situational ultimatum to another character like dooku did to yoda in the same movie. It’s lazy writing, likely caused by disney wanting cheaper everything since they know it will sell no matter the quality. All they would need to do is get an actual swordplay expert on the team and have him dream up the right scenario. Thats just my two cents

Sorry to debunk your opinion, but I don't think you understand what you are saying. It isn't lazy writing. Yes they cut them with a lightsaber, but based off what you mentioned, they haven't hit a single vital organ, which if they did, then that would kill them. Just a few lightsaber cuts or cutting off an arm won't kill you no matter which canon. I'd say that is plausible it won't kill them because those hits didn't hit a single vital organ yet, so I don't understand how you would expect one of them to die just because they got their arm cut off or they got a few cuts from a lightsaber. They have to hit a vital organ in order to kill. What they are saying here is that the problem with Disney lightsabers is that they seem to hit vital fatal areas like the torso, and the characters still unrealistically survive even though they should have been dead. I'm sorry, but I do not get your logic of what you just said, because they hit them with a lightsaber yes, but it was only for disarming purposes like vital cuts or arm chopping to disable the opponent, making them unable to continue fighting and be vulnerable to a fatal bow.

Also, before you consider Darth Maul as an example of someone who lived from a fatal lightsaber wound before the Disney trilogy, well they at least went out of their way to explain how he survived being cut in half, and they had to do a lot of explanation, and it still turned out plausible and worked well with the story, something Disney canon unfortunately did not do with everyone else stabbed with a lightsaber fatally and still lived.

@@dominoscatnip5922 You have no idea how the canon worked before lmao.
Canon before Disney was separated in different categories. Allow me to elaborate:
Movies came first. In fact, they were about the only thing that George Lucas considered to be “true canon”. Despite the need to maintain continuity among the expanded universe, George stated that he considered everything created by other people to be part of a separate universe or alternate reality from his works.
That said, Lucasfilm wanted everything to be included in one big continuity and even maintained a continuity editor on staff. Despite that, continuity errors still sometimes occurred and had to be retconned later on.
Overall, the canon tiers went as follow:
G (George Lucas) canon was absolute canon. This category included the six films, some of the deleted scenes from the films, the novelizations of the films, the radio dramas based on the films, the film scripts, and any material found in any other source (published or not) that comes directly from George Lucas himself. G canon overruled all other forms of canon when there was a contradiction.
T canon referred to the canon level comprising only the television show Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
C (continuity) canon referred to the main body of EU work, and was the next most authoritative level of canon. All material published under the Star Wars label but not falling into G, S, or N was C canon, and was considered authoritative as long as not contradicted by G canon. Games were a special case as generally only the stories would be C-canon while things like stats and gameplay were N-canon. If the video game had several possible endings or if the player could choose the gender or the species of the main character, only one of each is considered C-canon. C-canon elements have appeared in the movies, thus making them G-canon. These included Coruscant (both its name and the concept of it being an ecumenopolis), swoop bikes, Aayla Secura, YT-2400 freighters, and Action VI Transports.
S (secondary) canon referred to older, less accurate, or less coherent EU works, which would not ordinarily fit in the main continuity of G and C canon. Unless referenced by a G- or C-level source, the story itself is considered non-continuity, but the non-contradicting elements were still a canon part of the Star Wars universe. For example, this included The Star Wars Holiday Special, the Marvel comics, the popular online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies, and certain elements of a few N-canon stories.
N continuity material is also known as "non-canon" or "non-continuity" material. What-if stories (such as those published under the Infinities label), game stats, "comic" material such as Angry Birds Star Warsor Jedi Academy and anything else that was directly contradicted by higher canon and could not at all fit into continuity was placed into this category. N-canon was the only level that was not at all considered canon by Lucasfilm.
      Star Wars Legends
Games in particular were problematic when it came to canon. Trying to adhere to the overall story just didn’t always make for good game design. Or stories that had been told in games (like the theft of the Death Star plans) were retold in a better manner through novels (like coming up with anything better than a lone individual blasting his way through dozens of stormtroopers, snatching the plans, and escaping).
One game, however, is worth special mention.
That game is the Star War Role-Playing Game produced by West End Games. This is pretty much where the Expanded Universe started. Many background characters that were only seen for a few moments on-screen first received their names and stories from the material created for this game. Early novelists drew heavily on these materials.
And then Disney retconned most of this aside from G canon. I like to called Disney Canon “D-canon” in my own head-canon.

By the same logic and reasoning mentioned, even past examples of lightsaber wounds weren’t depicted correctly.
If a lightsaber burned as hot as claimed, the blade would do more than cauterize, it would quite literally char the the flesh, fat, bone and muscle away. Those types of burns are near completely fatal. The fourth-degree burns a lightsaber would cause aren’t exactly trivial. Even the removal of limbs could be fatal due to the increased chance of biological shock and infection and the fact that the damaged skin often spreads.

On top of that, if a ligthsaber is "as hot/hotter than the sun" you wouldn't be able to just wild it, you would fry as soon as you turn it on (unless you wear an armor like the clones/stormstrooper and Darth Vader)

Depending on where u get stabbed, the wound would already automatically be cauterized. This prevents any blood loss. The only thing you'd have to worry about is the actual tissue being vaporized/melted. Arguably, it would be better to be stabbed by a lightsaber than a longsword. The Longshore would cause more bleeding while the lightsaber would melt the organs and tissue togethe. Sorta like welding.

You obviously also don't undestand lightsabers. The blade is hot, but the area surrounding the blade is not hot. The surrounding organs will not be damaged.
Also the reason why the lightsaber doesn't slice through torso and head when the stabbed also makes sense. The stabbed person doesn't fall to the ground because the blade is holding him up. The energy in lightsaber is a current of power directed by the user through precise motion. This is why the lightsaber deactivates when dropped, and why it is hard for non trained or non force sensitives users hard to use the lightsaber properly.
Another thing is that 2 lightsabers pull themselves. ( As shown by Kannan in rebels). This is why you can't slice between Kylo ren's lightsaber blade and guard
The kenobi show was a shitty badly written low budget cash grab ( and it actually worked)
The show doesn't understand how fire works, its characters are randomly teleporting, and lightsabers are like bats against stormtrooper armor. You can't expect the lightsaber stabs to make sense.
I don't see a reason for people to die when they get medical attention quickly. Quin Gon lived for a few minutes. If he got help, he would have survived.
