I saw a ZR1 in this same color and with the ztk package at the Spring Rod Run in Pigeon Forge Tn. in April. You're absolutely correct. You have to see this car in person. Pictures don't do it justice. I couldn't stop looking at it. It has such presence. Amazing, beautiful car.
I think the C7 ZR1 is the pinnacle of modern Corvette aesthetics. You can’t really compare it to the C2 and early C3 cars, those are such classic looks that they hold a unique and special place in Vette history. But in terms of modern Vettes (C4 to present) this ZR1 seems to pull it all together in a way that really puts the exclamation point at the end of the front engine Vette era! Well done Chevrolet. Instant classic.

Wow! The Corvette has come an impossibly long way! Since 2010 every Corvette I see locally still look extremely good. They sound like hellfire. I keep seeing the same people in the same 2010+ Corvettes. These things are NOT falling apart! They seem to actually now be one of the most reliable cars GM makes.

Like you said, this car is “The King”. Spectacular review as always. I had a good laugh at the cost of the rotors, but hey, if you can afford a ZR1, you can afford to spend $11k on some rotors. Either way, I loved your editing and the various angles of the car. You’re absolutely right though about seeing it in person. Its stance and aggressive appearance just stands out on the road. I also am excited for the C8 and when you get it!! This channel continues to grow and the videos just keep improving. Hats off to you Robert 👍🏼🙂
The orange Lingenfeltter is just dripping gorgeous! I was able to get up close and personal with the 19 ZR1 and the one thing I was surprised about was the not so great carbon fiber work on the rear wing and end caps. Other than that it is drop dead gorgeous! Nice video too, great resolution!
A few month ago, I went to a Chevy dealership in Atlanta to look at all the line up Stingray, Grand sport, Z06 and ZR1. My advice is.... BUY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD. Hahaha. When I saw the sticker price for the ZR1, it's no joke. You better have a really good job to afford one.

You better keep the owners of the ZR1 on your Christmas Card list for allowing you access to their incredible purchase. lol Agreed, your ZR1 review is a definite plus to your channel, then again you could review Ace Hardware's lineup of wheel barrows and I'd be watching! 😁 Some questions: 1. As to this particular ZR1, do you happen to know how much the paint protection cost? 2. As to the ZR1 in general, do all the automatics come with the remote start? 3. Do you know if the low wing and the high wing are interchangeable? It will be interesting to see if GM will produce the ZR1 for 2020. If they do, I think GM could raise it up a notch by it having a wide body rear to help balance off the extra width of the front. That being said, GM could then go wider with the rear wheels, like to 13". Lastly, from my perspective, to put "The King of the Hill" OVER the hill, the coups de gras would be to make a 2020 in a true race version WITH side exhaust. As always, Save the Wave.
Thanks Peter 👍🏻 Happy Father's Day! 1. I'm not certain on the paint protection, but I believe it was in the neighborhood of $4,000- $5,000. They got almost the entire car wrapped in Suntek film. All autos do come with remote start 👍🏻 The wings could definitely be swapped out or taken off all together. It's just bolted on right behind the hatch. I think we'll definitely see a C8 ZR1, but it will most likely be around 2023- 2024 at the earliest. This thing is a beast though! I hope you have a chance to check one out. Corvettes are more affordable to insure than many other more affordable vehicles. Insurance companies don't only use repair/replacement costs to determine premiums.
The insurance quote was correct. The thinking is that not a lot of ppl crash these. Have you ever heard anyone say ppl are always crashing zr1’s? Also they are not exactly easy to steal, unless car jacked and if so they would be easily identified since not many ppl own these. Last but not least it’s made in America so parts aren’t an issue
I just recently got a quote from State Farm that was surprisingly low as well.... I asked my agent and she told me the reason was because #1 Corvetts in this class aren’t wrecked as often as other cars #2 the age demographic of corvette owners are typically older people #3 they aren’t driven often as a normal daily driver so the risk are lower....🤷🏾♂️ kinda made since

I'm glad you mentioned the wrap, I would like to get in touch with the people that did this one..... Not sure about the large wing.... For the sure the C7 generation will be known for the Z06 but, this Zr1 just doesn’t match the old days of what a Zr1 is suppose to be. Be careful boys when the C8 comes out. I would wait at least a year before buying one as you all know, GM will have to fix a few things before they get it right.

I can now chime in on the cost of insurance: $765 for 6 months. I am in my mid-40s and have a lot of vehicles and businesses insured with this particular insurance company. I also standard deductibles and high policy limits.
I noticed the Orange ZR1 has a Lingenfelter banner on it... What kind of "improvements" do they offer to this Beast..? I enjoyed the Video... WISH I could enjoy the CAR!! I live very close to Road Atlanta, and would Really enjoy some LAPS there!! { I did a couple of SCCA Races there MANY years ago, and a couple of Track Days on my motorcycle there, recently... and 'curious' what Changes are being made -- besides the New Tower [old one already torn down!] -- by the new Michelin Sponsorship..} Well... I keep buying a Lottery ticket each week... Maybe one of them will come thru!! But I am afraid time is running out for a ZR1 because the Limited number will likely be Sold Out soon... I also noticed that Chevy now offers this Engine as a CRATE Package! WOW! I wonder if I could wedge it into my 2004 Mustang..? LOL!! { Or the new Dodge "Hellephant" 1000 HP '426 Hemi'...} Ha Ha Ha ... just day-dreaming 'what if'..
Great review!! I may have learned a thing a or two and we have one, thanks for the footage from Bowling Green in the review. I have averaged 3 MPG on track and one tank lasting less than 25 minutes, oh well! PS if you want to ride along at a track day I can get you the dates!

Yup very good review. I like a few others here am driving a 17 Z07 Z06 and can appreciate the improvements we see in the C7 ZR1. Also holding off for what the C8 has to offer. Again. Great review and comparisons.
The replacement cost on that front splitter isn't really that bad by comparison. I've had to replace the front splitter on my GT350R *twice* (thankfully, at no cost to me), and it costs $1400 just for the splitter. And it's made of ABS plastic and few metal rivets!
Dual clutch transmissions are known for getting destroyed in normal day to day driving. Stop and go and lugging up hills are very bad for the dual clutch trans. Do google searches and off the race track, they do not last.
Did u know we here in the UK will never see the C7 ZR1?..something to do with the front splitter & side mouldings are not pedestrian friendly. Crazy!!!!
studio7 There will be no ZR1 in the whole Europe due to EU Pedestrian safety regulations for cars... No closed bonnet/hood... I would like to see one test person knocking his head on the bonnet and telling me which one is softer? Z06 or ZR1... Get my point? ;-) This is rediculous!
Thanks for the feedback! The 8 speed auto is no joke in this car. I've driven all 4 C7 Corvette variants and tried both transmission options. This was the best hands down. The tuning and response doesn't even feel like the same transmission.
It's a free country but why you spend way more on Ferrari or McLaren? I wonder how many of these ever see a track? My guess very few. Nice review and video as always! Hope the owners enjoy, thanks to them for sharing.
damn I love the way the gtr looks but its clear the performance on the corvette is better. Tough car decision if I ever get the chance to choose between the 2
The reason why insurance is low is because there are not a lot of them and therefore not a lot of people get into accidents in them, Also coupled with the fact that older married people tend to be the ones who own them and they are driven very very rarely. Insurance is based on risk, people who own these aren't getting them stolen or getting into accidents in them.
True. I guess I just thought that it would cost at least as much as a Z06. It was a couple hundred cheaper though. Seems odd to me. Maybe there were next to no accidents with the C6 ZR1 in comparison to the current Z06, so the rates are just that much better.
The Paint protection was nice. I seen it was do in Greenville SC. It’s a shame these S.C. roads will test the suspension. I’ve seen countless low profile wheels being bent in all the potholes we have in this state.
I agree that this is a fine car, and un questionably the best Corvette ever built. But aren't you going to lose a lot of value once the Mid Engine (twin turbo) comes out next week?
I’ve seen the pictures with or without the large rear spoiler, I would’ve liked to see how the large spoiler is attached and is it removable, and if so how it’s done...
I have another video of this car being delivered without the wing on yet. I think it looks much better with the wing on, but it is technically removable if you didn't want it.

I can now chime in on the cost of insurance: $765 for 6 months. I am in my mid-40s and have a lot of vehicles and businesses insured with this particular insurance company. I also standard deductibles and high policy limits.

What kind of "improvements" do they offer to this Beast..?

Great review!! I may have learned a thing a or two and we have one, thanks for the footage from Bowling Green in the review. I have averaged 3 MPG on track and one tank lasting less than 25 minutes, oh well! PS if you want to ride along at a track day I can get you the dates!

Dam is like looking in a mirror except for the blue calipers, and auto. I order red calipers and of course I have the manual

Yup very good review. I like a few others here am driving a 17 Z07 Z06 and can appreciate the improvements we see in the C7 ZR1.

The replacement cost on that front splitter isn't really that bad by comparison. I've had to replace the front splitter on my GT350R *twice* (thankfully, at no cost to me), and it costs $1400 just for the splitter. And it's made of ABS plastic and few metal rivets!
Dual clutch transmissions are known for getting destroyed in normal day to day driving. Stop and go and lugging up hills are very bad for the dual clutch trans. Do google searches and off the race track, they do not last.
Did u know we here in the UK will never see the C7 ZR1?..something to do with the front splitter & side mouldings are not pedestrian friendly. Crazy!!!!
studio7 There will be no ZR1 in the whole Europe due to EU Pedestrian safety regulations for cars... No closed bonnet/hood... I would like to see one test person knocking his head on the bonnet and telling me which one is softer? Z06 or ZR1... Get my point? ;-) This is rediculous!
Europeans are not generally fond of large multi liter engines and raw muscle.

Thanks for the feedback! The 8 speed auto is no joke in this car. I've driven all 4 C7 Corvette variants and tried both transmission options. This was the best hands down. The tuning and response doesn't even feel like the same transmission.
It's a free country but why you spend way more on Ferrari or McLaren? I wonder how many of these ever see a track? My guess very few. Nice review and video as always! Hope the owners enjoy, thanks to them for sharing.

Every time I see a Watkins Gray car, I am upset they stoped selling watkins Gray
The reason why insurance is low is because there are not a lot of them and therefore not a lot of people get into accidents in them, Also coupled with the fact that older married people tend to be the ones who own them and they are driven very very rarely. Insurance is based on risk, people who own these aren't getting them stolen or getting into accidents in them.
True. I guess I just thought that it would cost at least as much as a Z06. It was a couple hundred cheaper though. Seems odd to me. Maybe there were next to no accidents with the C6 ZR1 in comparison to the current Z06, so the rates are just that much better.

I know GM is being conservative but that 2.8 is BS. There are tons of PDR equipped Z06s right here on YT doing 2.8 stock on stock tires.
The Paint protection was nice. I seen it was do in Greenville SC. It’s a shame these S.C. roads will test the suspension. I’ve seen countless low profile wheels being bent in all the potholes we have in this state.

I agree that this is a fine car, and un questionably the best Corvette ever built. But aren't you going to lose a lot of value once the Mid Engine (twin turbo) comes out next week?
I’ve seen the pictures with or without the large rear spoiler, I would’ve liked to see how the large spoiler is attached and is it removable, and if so how it’s done...
I have another video of this car being delivered without the wing on yet. I think it looks much better with the wing on, but it is technically removable if you didn't want it.
