Apologies for the hiatus, been busy with work and life. Anywho, here’s this old girl driven by a friend of mine down US-1 in Virginia. The Cinder Bed Road garage had received a handful of D40LFRs during the 2023 Orange/Silver Line summer shutdown for shuttle work. After the shuttle service’ conclusion, this garage kept their D40LFRs in service until they were retired sometime in January of 2024. Unfortunately, the D40LFR chapter for WMATA has ended (6195 being the last unit in service in June of 2024) 😔 but there’s still plenty of footage and audio recordings lurking in the vault…enjoy the ride.

Hold up, the D40LFRs are all gone from Metrobus too?? I thought it was just Fairfax Connector that retired them all?
What, but I want them back. I love these. I've gotten a chance to ride a repaint red scheme "transit buses" I remember that "6119" had a new farebox as I heard from their fans while it's been retired. I was keeping my eye on 6195 was my last ride. I'm never get a chance to and never rode MetroExtra "6214" which I saw in picture on Facebook.
