Still hanging on in service; Long Beach Transit removed all its Series 50-powered D40LFs by mid 2018 (They were LBT's best buses along with the Cummins-powered D40LFs 2000s and 2200s) in favor of new CNG buses from Gillig & New Flyer

I've gotten a chance to ride a repaint red scheme "transit buses" I remember that "6119" had a new farebox as I heard from their fans while it's been retired. I was keeping my eye on 6195 was my last ride. I'm never get a chance to and never rode MetroExtra "6214" which I saw in picture on Facebook. I want D40LFRs back. I want D40LFRs back. how these lasted longer in service than the SLFs, the C35s and the '05 C40s astonishes me.
Because they’re diesel! They don’t expire! So they can typically last 2 to 3 years longer than a CNG Bus which can only last 12-15 Years!
The best nabis I surely miss the wmata ones. These are amazing buses.

Woah…shocking to see new boxes being installed on these dinosaurs. Our 2006 D40LFRs will not be receiving the new Genfare FastFare fareboxes. Sad to see but we hardly run the LFRs we have anymore so it’s not justifiable to install new, expensive hardware in something that will be retired any day now.

Yep! Soon to begin retirement though from what I was told…
They’re gonna try and put their new buses into service in June but there is a bus shortage right now so if any problems arise with the new buses these might stick around.

As of a matter of fact it has a Voith D864.3E transmission.
Nothing beats a good ISM.
