For anyone wondering... this was created and submitted for a Writing 150 assignment (a general course taken by a lot of BYU students). I only uploaded this to TH-cam for the convenience of pulling it up for a presentation in class. I'm loving all of this feedback years later, not sure why so many people have taken interest in it recently lol
I think younger parents have an easier time keeping up with their kids and this is healthier for both parents and kids. For people that want to get married on the younger side instead of older side, converting to Mormonism and picking up a Utah girl is ideal. Also, Mormon marriages have lower rates of divorce and they are generally happier and more stress free than the average American. Girls where I am from have no interest in marrying or having kids in the future. They all want to be "strong independent women".
BYU students invented the term “non-committal make-out session” (NCMO, or “nick-mo”), which is like the Mormon version of hooking up. Legend has it that some BYU couples would drive to Vegas, get married at a cheap wedding chapel, do the dirty all weekend, file for an annulment on Monday, and then pretend it never happened. I spent three years as a student at BYU (before and after my church mission), and I hardly dated there. The thought of being a married BYU student was terrifying to me.
I didn't go to BYU, but a lot of the pressures felt at BYU are felt in the church in general. I had a bishop in my YSA ward pull me in for a meeting one time just to lecture me on why I wasn't married yet. It was super awkward and weird. So yeah, I believe those who've had that kinda crap happen to them. It's unfortunate. Just live your life y'all and go with the current!
My friend had just returned from his mission. He was back at BYU. There was a bishop who told my friend to go through the ward and stake lists and then date every woman until he found "the one" to marry.
They used to tell RMs that in order to avoid breaking the law of chastity, to marry within one year after return. So the pressure was on. I knew someone who proposed after the first date. He told her the spirit told him she was the one to marry. She bought it and they were married the next week in the SLC temple. Another guy came home and started going to the temple. Met someone there. They dated a month and got engaged.
I knew someone at BYU back in 2006 who was dating a RM fellow student. After four months he wanted to get married. His father told him to dump the girlfriend after the four months. She just wanted to finish her education first.
Priesthood class at BYU in the early 2000s was all about eternal marriage. Like every Sunday. Problem was many women wouldn't date you seriously unless you were a RM. I hear now there's not as much pressure to marry young.
The girl in glasses and jeans jacket seems like Female Jesse Eisenberg lol. I mean we can put here in "Social Network" and nobody will find a difference in the way she Portrays Mark Zukerberg and Jesse Eisenberg Portrays Mark Zukerberg
Mormons are weird, but I have to admit that they have great chicks. I think many Mormons stem from Swedish and Norwegians. At least they look very Skandinavian
This is true. My family is LDS and we have a lot of Scandinavian ancestry. Sweden and Denmark specifically. Lots of other LDS families are the same. P.S. Your profile pic made me think I had a fly on my Mac! LMAO!
And lo, in the land of shadows, where the sun sets without rising, there dwelt a man of unnumbered sorrows, whose name was whispered only in dread. The Lord of the Infinite Labyrinths spoke unto him, saying, "Thou shalt wander these halls, where each door opens to another, and each step leads only back to the beginning. Thy purpose shall remain veiled, and thy prayers shall echo unanswered, for in the maze of my design, the end is forever elusive, and the search is eternal." And the man, burdened by the weight of a thousand unfulfilled destinies, knew not whether he dreamed or lived, but wandered on, his cries mingling with the silent walls, becoming as one with the void.

I graduated from BYU around the time you posted this so the nostalgia is fun for me 😂. Those pressures were so real 🤦♀️
I found this as I recently found out about soaking and floating, blew my mind and had to look into it for myself.
they found the weirdest people on campus to interview
Which is nice hahaha
Which doesn't change when they get out in the real world. haha
i read this comment before watching and instantly also thought they were weird
These are normal people in Provo😬
these are the people that go to the school
Girl at 1:51 don’t let him interrupt you! Seems like he does it a lot judging by her reaction. Mormon men 🙄
This just got suggested to me by TH-cam in 2021 and...I'M IN IT! 1:07 I'm the guy in the green shirt!
@Paige by the book lol

because they get tired of grinding all their life haha
Lol it's true but if you do that you do get kicked out of BYU. But ya it's kinda sad we have the term NCMO lol
😂😂😂
Lol that's funny I just heard about what you said today 😂 it's called a "superdate" I guess
That's another fun one to hear but soaking and floating are definitely what got me wanting to know more.
The girl at 2:25 looked so much like Shari Franke from the 8passengers
All these people are related so makes sense
i was about to comment the same thing hahaha
I LITERALLY THOUGHT IT WAS HER AT FIRST
Is that not her? 😅

wow, these students are more like 9th or10th graders then college students.
Idk why I'm watching this, I go to a completely different college, and I'm not mormon

Kind of a random thing to pop in my recommended but here I am
Edit. Not disappointed. Well done.
There would be lot of distractions then, I would have hard time focusing on studies if am a BYU student.
is it okay for me to go to BYU? I have been single since I was born...
SAMEEE
@Jay Cutler ...
I love being single , fuck the Morons and their crazy dating scene
Koreeeaaaan
Well the mormons definitely got the married thing right
I went to BYU. Why pressure ?
Chill and the right one comes
Along.
The inside of BYU honestly looks like a high school

Meeting a quota? That's ridiculous.

Is the guy at 4:13 the same guy that is on the show with Kwaku?
I am planning on going to BYU here in the next year!!!
Did you go
I'm sorry
We traditional Jews also marry young. 'good to settle down, commit, build families, have stability. Bravo
I doubt they stress critical thinking skills at that college.
Critical thinking is why all western countries are with unsustainable birth rates.
@@ryuuseiboi950 you mean lack of it?
@@christinacascadilla4473 Well which one is it? Is it the traditional or the modern approach to relationships that shows lack of critical thinking?
A few of these people seem somewhat normal, but a lot of them demonstrate how much the awkwardness caused by hardcore religiosity can resemble autism.
I love B Y U and i need to learn at the unevesity.
@Its_R Why you say that?
Clearly you do
Nah I just graduated. Don't do it
I need to go for date.
Where are all the soakers at!

@@Eriiiicaaaa I know that Mormons stem from the US. What I mean is their original ancestry, obviously.
Nope.
