This is the type of fierce needed to be done right in front of lines of cops. Power needs to show power. So... how about... like dance off with the cops instead of violence? Cops would soooo lose.

I cry. I cry every time I see this. If I could I would hug them and tell them thank you. The Hakka is sacred and for them to do this for Black Lives matter brings tears to my eyes. It shows me, no it tells me that they are saying we see you brothers and sisters and we hear you. I know they understand what it feels like. Again, thank you.

I also would love to know what they're saying. However, every haka I've seen moves me to tears despite having to personal connection to the people ,the country, having any idea what's said, or the meaning of each gesture. For me, the tradition of haka is just such a beatiful, strong presence!

    • @anikatri
      @anikatri 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

When you perform a haka you call all your ancestors, everyone that came before you, their ghosts. That’s what you see in their face. They perform for weddings, funerals, big battles and other big events to give strength and unity.
I could not make out which one this was but as an example it could be something like this
It is death!, It is death!
It is life!, It is life!
It is death! It is death!
It is life! It is life!
      This is the hairy man
      Who fetched the sun
      And caused to shine
      The sun shines!
Others are for example the words of a father to a son for encouragement. if you watch different hakas and recognize the same dance or words and it has a description in the info box you can easy find the lyrics to this specific one.
Sorry not that helpful I know.

Pardon my ignorance, but can anybody tell me if that an actual language? I heard they say whatever comes out, but they are so well synchronized that I highly doubt it.

    • @DylanLeviYork

Yes, it's an actual language. They're Maori. Aboriginal people from their country. Haka is part of their religion, I believe.

Of course all lives matter. That's the most obvious thing ever. But guess what? Black lives don't matter as much as all of the other ones. That's the point and you missed it completely.
