To get rid of any plastic odors or "new" smell, set to airfry at 400f for 15 minutes. That'll burn off any bad smells it may have. You can do that outside, porch, carport or open garage.
I purchased Jan 2021, and now, no one uses the BBQ... We use this for almost everything (10 to 14 times a week)... Awesome bacon, rib-eyes, biscuits, fish (major big time awesome), quick veggies towards the end of steaks; also, reheating breads or rolls within the last two minutes of steaks or what you are air-frying... We have not used the bake, for the air-frying does it all... p.s. DO NOT like hard boiled eggs in it, for I make supper hard-boiled easy peel normally... I just turned 70, and love this air-fryer... A must for most... TREAT: take a frozen corn dog, wrap with one piece of bacon, and air fry to your likeness~~bacon keeps corn dog from splitting, and the kids & grand-kids love them.... Tongs do come in handy; easy to clean; we do not put any items in dish-washer... Enjoy your day... Sorry, could talk all day about this item... And, my kitchen looks like it belongs on CHOPPED... Also, only use the P.I.C. Cooktop... LOL...
Check for the little cardboard pieces inside of the little grill and under that's probably what's smelling also check the heating element and make sure the plastic cover is taken off
No smell in mine and I took out the cardboard and checked up underneath before using and also did the pre cooking instructions set up in the front of instruction booklet. Had a good air fried pork loin cutlet on first meal.
This airfryer does the job.. very good airfryer ... why buy the expensive brands when you can have this one much cheaper...the size is a bonus..5.7ltr ..I like my Voltex and use it often will buy another one for sure...
Looks great, functions great, and highly recommended. The buttons are touch (not pressure activated "touch"), which was a nice detail th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB Perfect size for normal every day meals, and it cooks food very thoroughly. On preset settings upon first use, it cooked my chicken breasts to a crisp. Boarder line too dry, so next time I'll either decrease temperature or time. Not a bad thing, just a minor adjustment for next time. No oil was used, so food was clean to the touch. Excited to see how other meals will turn out. Will recommend to friends and family in the future!
Why is no Pause a bad thing. The timer stops and restarts when you push the handle back in....???????? Why else would you want to pause it IF YOU WERENT opening it
Yikes! I just got mine yesterday and ran 2 cook cycles and the burning toxic plastic smell is horrible. Thanks for commenting. I’m going to return it ASAP.
Poolarity - Life Hacks thank you will try doing more test runs until smell disappears other than that the air fryer really works, just gotta get rid of the smell. Thank you for your response.
So the smell finally went away it did take a couple of trial runs. We use it all the time, we hardly use the stove at all. I am able to cook pretty much everything even bake dessert too. 👍🏼😀
Vortex User Manual says do not immerse the basket or put it in the dishwasher. You can only wipe it out to clean it. That is really the only con I have found with this air fryer, but for me, it's a big one. It should at least be immersible. And I wonder how many people who own one even realize it isn't.
Funny. I’ve had mine for a year. I submerge and clean the basket with soap daily. It hasn’t negatively affected anything at all. Still in great condition. Just make sure the basket isn’t wet when you push it into the housing.
My Vortex 6 qt air fryer had a strong plastic smell for more than 6 months before the smell went away or we got so use to it we didn't smell it anymore. After 1 yr and 3 months, the cooking tray started peeling and bubbling. Anyone has experience with this? What to do ?
Why is no pause button a “bad thing”? If I need to turn over the food or shake it up, I can just pull out the door. I’m glad I don’t need a two step process before shaking the basket. In my mind, that’s a GOOD thing. I would like to see ceramic, however. Couldn’t care less about a lack of presets. If you’re a kid, maybe? But no kids here.
How to get rid of the plastic smell? My instant vortex plus, after 3 sessions of 40 minutes at 205 celsius, still emits a strong plastic smell. I think it comea from the top vents and not on the drawer. As when i remove the drawer, the drawer does not smell plasticky.
Eventually the smell will fade. You can turn it on highest temp for 45 minutes and see if that burn in process will do it. Maybe you also have a great sense of smell and will always detect it
I was watching videos because I order it. One review said some people get a plastic smell because they might of missed some plastic in the top or bottom and once it turn on the plastic melts .. idk if that will help
@@Enteratedelchisme check under the basket take it out and look inside make sire you removed a carboard piece thats easy to miss. I cooked a few times with it in before realising the smell came from that piece of cardboard i didnt even notice
Mine had a strong Chinese plastic smell to it. I took it outside and ran 4 or 5 10 minute cycles on it. Then I used it a few times. It still smelled. I cooked bacon in it a couple of times and that got rid of almost all of the smell. This made some of the best bacon I have ever cooked. And very easy to clean up.
the good thing is its still under warranty, but usually i just get a refund from the credit card company instead of going back to the manufacturer. sometimes its just faster that way
Mines did that but started working again perfectly once I moved it to a different countertop. I prayed over mine too may have been another reason it started working again 😂💯 haven’t had that problem in months!!
Thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful. I'm in the market for an air fryer and so far this one looks best but I would like to know if it has an option for dehydrating?
I don't believe it does. But I'm almost certain that the dehydrating is merely setting the temperature lower and the max duration, basically bake it slowing and taking all the moisture out. The reason why I say that is that much of the air frying that it does, has a tendency to already dry out the food, if you don't rehydrate it in the middle with oil. Its one of those things were you trial and error by experience every time you cook with it.

Actually, ceramic coating on pans is generally considered LESS durable than teflon.
The air exhausting out the back is not just hot air--it's got grease fumes, which you'll have to clean off your countertops.

What smells is underneath the heating element how do you get the heating element to clean underneath the heating element that’s where all the smell is
I'm not picky, as long as it gets the job done I am happy.
I have one it works so well does the job...best airfryer
This little air fryer works Great!! Love mine so much!
Those are the presets where it says air fry, broil, bake, etc.
According to the user manual it says to NOT submerge the entire basket in water or in a dishwasher.
I agree the Manuel says no dishwasher
Its been 6 months and it still smells like burning!

Check for the cardboard when you pull the tray out it's inside the air fryer
You answered my Celsius /Fahrenheit question. Mine got changed to Celsius, and I didn’t know how to get it back to Fahrenheit. Thanks!
How did you get the smell to go away? Smells like burning plastic. I tried doing trial runs 5x and still smells. Did I just get a bad one?
It will go away Eventually. I ran mine at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, 5 times and it went away.

How about cleaning it
The 4 plastic part on the tray is that suppose to be removed or kept with the tray?
Kept, those are silicon, it can withstand high high temperatures, keeps basket from scratches from drop tray
I dont like how they keep popping off every time I remove the tray.

Yep
How long do I cook a 1.9kg chicken and at what temp in Celsius. Just got this yesterday.

Yes
That will be the Vortex Plus, selling for $89. This is the Vortex on sale gor $59
Not this one but the plus version does. Or the silver version of this one.
