Where can we get the W365 App so I can push it out to a physical PC via Intune? I hope to see W365 App for other OS’s soon(MacOS/Android/Linux).

We’re waiting on a new Store feature to become available soon. More news on this soon.

Does this replace the modern Remote Desktop client for AVD as well? Very interesting stuff!

We think customers ultimately will prefer using the Windows 365 app to using the Remote Desktop client.

Hi Christian, is it expected that the Windows 365 client should use Web Sockets instead of UDP? When I installed the Windows 365 client it seemed to force that and the modern Remote Desktop app to both use Web Sockets instead of UDP Short Path, I noticed an obvious performance reduction. To get UDP short path working again I had to remove the Windows 365 client and reboot. I will experiment further today but wondered if this is expected?

I have two Windows 365 business cloud PCs running Windows 11. Are they in the same network? Can I share file folders on one with the other? Can you run QuickBooks data base manager on one and connect with another?

Is there any news on hardware virtualisation for 16GB SKUs? A while back Christian you answered a question on an AMA session and said that it was supposed to be coming but you were waiting for specific resource availability in Azure DCs

At 8:12 you say "downsizing won't affect Marios files" and I am sure you are right but you mean "speed" not "OS Storage". This takes me to my question: what if the InTune Admin resizes (i.e. makes the OS Storage setting) to be lower?! If Mario was using the full OS storage capability of his machine the InTune Admin will have destroyed Mario's work. Or does MSFT disallow amendment of the OS Storage setting? Is the OS Storage actually a separate entity in it's own right, independent of the machine?
And is Windows365 going to be available for non-government and "High" users soon?

Mario has a Powershell script/Database task running 24/7 which feeds an external source, so he hasn't needed to connect to his cloud PC for a little while. Now it rebooted because an admin downsized the model. Going to have to be really careful about that process, admins.

You would see if Mario's machine was constantly active with the running script prior to restarting, and guessing Mario would set it up to restart after reboots, because he would also receive cumulative updates in this scenario. ;)

So W365 Business PC's are now enrolled in to Endpoint Manager? I'm confused then as to what the main differences are between Business and Enterprise

    • @MSFTMechanics
      @MSFTMechanics  ปีที่แล้ว

You can optionally enroll Business Edition Cloud PCs into Intune, if that is what you're doing now to manage your physical PCs. They are still provisioned via the Business Edition administrator experience in this case.

@@MSFTMechanics Is it possible to assign the Cloud PC a static IP address?

I'm using one now but am a little hesitant to put anything important on it. Are these secure and less prone to be brute forced than past RDP accessible computers? Should we worry at all about someone else getting access to your business data?

    • @MSFTMechanics

Connections to Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop sessions do not use the Remote Desktop Protocol port 3389 to connect. They use reverse connect over HTTPS port 443, so they are not prone to the same types of RDP brute force attacks. Would always also recommend using multi-factor authentication as part of your baseline configuration, to protect against credential theft based attacks. Main point is that with the right configuration, it can be as secure or more secure than your local desktop. Many of these deployments are done to amplify the security posture versus running the managed Windows environment on the local device, but to achieve higher security, you do need the right policies in place, like MFA, clipboard redirect and others, based on your security requirements.

@@MSFTMechanics Thank you. I appreciate the response and will evaluate requirements, adjust, and start using it as my full time workstation. Thanks so much!

When I installed and used the Windows 365 Preview app it was using WebSockets for the connection type and reverted to connecting via the gateway - Basically it seemed to stop me being able to use UDP Short Path which I find to be noticeably faster than anything else. Has anybody else noticed this? It seemed to impact connections made from the modern Remote Desktop app as well until I uninstalled Windows 365 app and rebooted……
To me the Web Sockets connection let to a degraded experience compared to what I’m used to with UDP short path.

Is UDP Short path fully available? I tried it a few months ago, and it kept switching protocols too much so I reverted back.
