  • Windows 365 is your PC in the cloud. Securely stream your personalized Windows experience, including your desktop, apps, settings, and content, at any time to any device. For IT, see how easy it is, as a fully-managed service, to assign and configure Cloud PCs using familiar tools like Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
Given the need to work remotely and securely, there has been a huge demand for cloud based solutions in the past year. Windows 365 modernizes the way Windows experiences are delivered for anyone on any device. It’s a premium experience for both end users and IT. It’s easy to use, and just as easy for IT to manage using familiar tools and processes. Scott Manchester, Partner Director of PM for Windows 365, joins Jeremy Chapman to show how it works and how to set it up.

Hopefully this service isn't limited to businesses/business use only. As a standard consumer, I'd absolutely pay for a subscription to have a personal cloud PC. It's a no-brainer, especially since I could just connect to it with a non-Windows tablet. All the benefits of powerful hardware without the laptop-like sacrifice of battery life. It'd be great for school!

Absolutely brilliant, will certainly be raising this in our next budget meeting for implementation. The cost savings on not having to upgrade hardware on user Laptops/PCs at intervals will certainly be a solid business case to move to this model. The management of users/devices will also be massively simplified, not to mention inherent security that this model creates. Well done !

I actually envisioned Windows 365 many years ago, but my concern was always the network. If 5G has been looking for a killer app, this is it. Also, the environmental benefits are also a major advantage, hardware will last longer because you will do everything up in the cloud. Its just that, its gonna be a long transition moving over the 5G capable devices.

Interesting concept! What's the scenario for preventing or let's say, mitigating DDoS on the Cloud PC network? Goal: not letting users experience PC use outages in any situation. Can one have 2 Windows (cloud, and local traditional laptop) fully synchronized so that a local traditional laptop could act as an independent, up-to-date failover, if the faster Cloud PC was jammed for some reason and thus unavailable for a period of time? Is this scenario kind of built-in in Cloud PC?

Any recommendations on adding some type of Azure storage to a group of Windows365 desktops? The goal is to use Azure AD Join and no fileserver. Like a small office where everyone needs to access a shared QuickBooks company file, one of the Win365 desktops will be the admin with the QB Database Manager running and the other will just need access to the company file. So far, I have created an Azure Storage account, a share and connected to it on the Win365 desktops with PowerShell. The problem seems to be latency. Unlike our experience with AVD and a files server, the storage is too slow. Thoughts or suggestions?

I bought a Chromebook and i love it, the lasting battery, android apps and is so easy to use, BUT there are a lot of disadvatages such as not being able to run major programs. Hope Windows 365 is available for the regular consumer.

Will this have support for usb redirection? For example, hooking up my local printer via usb to the cloud pc.

Yes. You can connect to your Cloud PC using the Remote Desktop apps to enable lots of USB peripherals to work, printers, webcams, etc.

Please create this for individual accounts. This would be a game changer. It would make sense to buy your surface laptop go.
Could you play Microsoft flight using a Chromebook or an underpowered PC as long as you have good internet? This would be an amazing theoretical advancement.

    • @terrygelinas4593

Good question - Do you need to manually set the location on the Cloud PC, or will the Cloud PC automatically pick up your current browser-PC location.

    • @wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20
