This short video shows a time lapse of a Ford Transit Connect I converted from an empty panel van to a registered campervan. I converted this van last year but forgot to upload the time lapse so here it is. The camper conversion time lapse takes 15 days of building the campervan and squeezes it down to 5 minutes, every job shown in the video is documented on my channel in greater detail and once completed, the Ford Connect camper van is ready for use and to go on adventures. The Ford Connect campervan conversion made a great little micro camper so for more details on the conversion, check my channel

What kind of help do you need?
Where abouts are you based?we are in the North East area and need someone to check our gas valves in our truma water heater :-)
Thank you SO much for making this video and sharing it.
I am going to buy a Mk1 Connect Sport (I only want the Sport model because it has two sliding doors) and perform a similar conversion myself. Your video has been extremely inspiring ❤
Watching the hard work in time lapse felt very rewarding. Thanks! It is encouraging and motivating!
Glad to hear that!
When i saw the lupo i knew id enjoy the channel
Probably my favorite of your conversions
Thanks
Thank you for the super chat (or whatever its called), I believe you might be the first to do so
@@TheCampervanBuilder No worries! Thank YOU for taking the time to make and share your video; It’s helped me decide whether or not to buy a mk1 Transit Connect Sport. I am going to buy one, and I want it converted into a mini camper, like yours. Without your video, I wouldn’t have known if it was possible… So a HUGE thumbs up from me! 👍
Really cool. I bet a roof tent would look ace on it
nice job fella good to see someone else doing the same as me crazy enough to build out vans for the pleasure of doing it 👍
Wish you were near me? I would hire you in a minute. My 2012 Ford Transit XLT, 40K mile van came today. I looked for 7 weeks for one. Bought from out of state dealer, that was a tedious endeavor. Buying a car online takes a lot of research. I know they are small vans, but it is just perfect for one person to travel. Mine is a passenger. There are some advantages to having passenger van, it does have a medium roof, 8 windows. More pros than cons. I only want to travel, to go feel like it so it's good enough. So excited to eventually have a mini camper to go on down the road. Save on hotels, food and be (somewhat) free. What was really great is that I didn't know it had a remote start, so I was going to have one installed. It was an important addition to have.
Got to love the Connect !
wow ! very Nice and practical and homie, I'll keep an eye on you for my van. Thanks for sharing 🚐🌟🥰
Nice work and sweet paint job. 👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
nice job fella what size insul board did you use cheers Rob
I like this van build nice and simple, and looks really good WOW! GOOD JOB, IF YOU WAS HERE I WOULD TOTALLY PAY TO BUILD MINE JUST LIKE THAT., BUT IN A CHEVY EXSPRESS 350.
So simply built
Hi. Thinking of doing an aFORDable Connect camper build on mine and have found much help and tips on here. However, there is no video on the electrric install. Did you forget to include, or not do a video on it at all?
I didn't do a specific video, some parts are covered in videos of the series, other bits were done off camera. Have a look at my other videos as most electrics are very similar in most vans
Expected more, but better than what I could do.
it's an extremely small van, converted on a budget
Can you imagine what you could accomplish if you could only work a little faster :-) what a great video thank you
Thanks, yes I've thought that many times but having a good reliable job is hard to give up, but I could certainly rattle out the conversions pretty quick if I did do them full time
@@TheCampervanBuilder my attempt at humor obviously failed I was referring to the time-lapse you give on your video excellent way to show all that is involved in your skill once again thank you
good build mate do you have a link for the roof vent and window please there perfect for my connect 😊
No links, they were all bought used, the window was out of a caravan door and the skylight again from a used caravan
Great video!
Thanks!
Wow!!! that is exactly the van that I want and like to convert into a camper van a 2013 Transit Connect. If I could find one with low mileage here in the United States and too bad that you are not close by that if I find one I would like to bring it to you. Because I see you take pride in what you do and you do fantastic work hopefully mine's come out just as good as yours. I am thinking of having some windows or the windows that already come with the van insulated properly and also use it to move things if I have too. So it'd be easy to take out part of the conversion and put it back keep up the good work and videos.
Good idea: To see and learn in four minutes only. (liked + subscribed)
Greetings from germany.
Awesome work!!
Sweet build buddy, what's that black wrap you used to line the inside called can you remember??
It's stretch carpet, not wrap
@@TheCampervanBuilder cheers matey looks great
Cills looked pretty bad! Didn’t need any welding?
they had already been replaced, just not well looked after since, rust was surface rust only
You could actually slowed it down a notch, it was really interesting to watch.
I am curious about insulation, and wondering how to do it on mine..
the full conversion is available on my channel in parts to make it easier to follow
That was awesome thank you. What are the foam tiles you used for the floor? It looks like you just used those on a thin subfloor?
What did you use on the ceiling
WHERE DID YOU GET THE XPS MATTING FROM AND WHAT ARE THE SIZE OF THE TILES
this is what the Sims should look like when you speed them up
Can you tell me what lino you used anything special plz
Altro safety flooring, check my channel as I have videos covering converting 2 of these
hi is this the small version, as many videos i see are of the hi top lwb, if this is the shirt version do you have any measurements ?
best regards
yes its the short version, I don't have measurements but everything was made to fit using all the space available
I love it 💓
maybe I missed it but didn't see the moisture barrier?
Foil backed insulation creates its own barrier, people get way too hung up on these barriers when if the right insulation is used, it creates its own
Sick build. I've love to know what insulation you used.
Celotex/Kingspan type insulation, another of these coming soon to the channel so stay tuned
Hi mate what’s the exhaust fan you used please?
Simple resume. It's cool!
The connect must be the worst van on the road.
Do you have dimensions for the bed tia
it was built on the fly and I don't have the van anymore
where are you located?
Very cool. Great job man.
Good job and a great video!
have you got a rough idea of how much this build cost just for the conversion?
This must be for warmer climates. I didn't see much insulation going on the walls.
It had as much insulation fitted as possible
is this van stillgood 2012?
the last I heard it was still going strong
@@TheCampervanBuilder good on fuel?
Nice simple little camper there mate 👍🏻
Hi, loved the vid. A van like this would be just reet for me. What did it sell for? ( if you dont mind sayng. Ball park figure)...I've seen some shockers on ebay, (dog rough interiors) but that build of yours would have been just the job if id have come across the vids as you were doing them)
It sold for less than 2k
@@TheCampervanBuilderThank you for the reply. I shall have to keep a look out for your future builds. Where do you sell?
If I build something to sell it just goes on the usual places gumtree Facebook etc but I’m working on bigger more expensive builds now
Very nice. Thanks.
Would you do another small van ,say a dispatch or a boxer, watched you do this last year but good to watch it time lapsed too.
Hi yes I'd do another smaller van, I will convert anything thats worth converting
@@TheCampervanBuilder I went from a LDV CONVOY to a dispatch with a dropped floor in it ,love it ,the only thing i miss is my woodburner from my LDV. I'm 5ft so i can stand up in it and it's great to be able to park and get under barriers so i would be interested on what you would do with something similar.
Who supplied window for sliding door
The window was from a scrapped caravan door, usually available on eBay
AWESOME
do you have a list of materials you used?
I have playlist of the build on my channel and each video should have links to items used within the video, so carpeting video will have links to stretch carpet etc. Some bits were just bought locally though
@@TheCampervanBuilder cool!! thanks
Mate I'm thinking about doing this but I'm quite tall. Is there much foot room when you're on the bed or is this van for smaller people
Go for a high top and that’ll give a bit more headroom and space. I build this to accommodate a tall person but it was at the limits of comfortableness as this is a swb low roof variant.
Hi where did you buy that little window?
it was from a scrapped caravan door
Brilliant 👍
Nice job, but where’s the loo?
A portable one would fit under the bed if needed
Great channel, how’s the outside of the transporter looking? 👍
I've just spent all day sanding back a 2 tone respray I completed last week, needs a polish then its pretty much done
Hi there. This is something very near to what I'm looking for, and I would love to know what it would cost me to do this. What I mean is, if I supplied you with a transit connect, how much would it cost me for you to do it yourself? Please reply as I have wanted to do this for a long time now. Cheers.
Hi, it would depend on what you wanted fitting inside, what materials to use, whether all items were supplied with the van or if they would need sourcing etc. The best thing to do would be to pop over to my website or facebook page and send me a message and we can discuss your requirements and whether I'd be able to help or not.
My website is at www.thecampervanbuilder.com

@@TheCampervanBuilder. Thank you for your quick reply. I have visited your website and I'm interested. Although it wouldn't be for a few months yet (because of the time of year) I would probably supply most of the equipment. For eg; small solar panel kit, 110ah battery, sink, usb and 12v cigarette lighter charging ports, etc. The carpentry work would be done by your skills, so if you want timber etc supplied it can be done. I will keep in touch. You sound as if you're not to far from myself. Thanks again.
Nice job
My question is,how many hours?👍🏻
I didn't keep track, easily over 100 as most days were 7-8 hour days x15 days
👍👍👍
You could have painted back step after all that work. Lol
Where are you located? I’m in the United States
I'm based in the UK
Hi, brilliant.
Where in the U.K. Are you located ?
How much did all that cost to do? Paint job and all? I wonder.
Paint job was at a reduced price as I did all the bodywork and prep work and the body shop just applied paint which massively cut costs down. A metal flake paint job like this would usually cost £2k+ but I did the full conversion and paint for less than that.
plenty good 👍
Its all cosmetic,.what about engine? Has it stopped working yet? I never understood why people buy old junk and then put so much money into it.
Engines in these vans are pretty reliable and I wouldn't have considered this old junk when the conversion was done at all, but this is also now a 4 year old conversion. Also the conversion in this van was quite cheap indeed as it was all DIY built
Very Nice 💕♥💕
Would that bed get 2 of you on it? thinking of buying a connect but need a bed for 2 people...i was gonna do what you have done or a roll out bed from a caravan...
It was built to fit 2 people snugly, about the same as a r&r bed
How long is bed? Thanks
160cm extending to 190cm with the extension board in place, there is a bed build for this van on my channel
👍
На колхоз похоже, но работа большая конечно.
Perfect for a dwarf
If you watch the tour video of it, you'll see I'm 6'3 tall and can sit and lay down fully stretched no problem. It was built to allow headroom while being a small van
@@TheCampervanBuilder yes i guess but its a shame to not use a bigger van
The whole point was to use a small van as not everyone is comfortable driving larger vehicles. Check my channel for other builds, I'm currently converting a minibus which is significantly larger
😂😂 that did make me laugh. Wish I had the skills to do all that work though regardless.
How many of these did you make for Jeffrey Epstein?
Big problem it’s not a Vw transporter 😂😂😂
Over rated over priced
Фигня. Не практично.
