At 8:40 , Just as you mentioned it, I was thinking about the big job ahead pouring the concrete floor - probably all this winter long - once the roof and walls are complete. What a job that will be - and parade of concrete trucks! But as the interior floor sections are poured, leveled, and cured, factory equipment and furnishings will also begin to arrive en-masse and can be stored inside out of the weather. At this rate, by next spring, parts of the factory will really be coming alive (which we will not be able to see, unfortunately).
They put a lot of thought into this project and incorporated lessons-learned from previous giga's for what I am just now thinking we should call giga semi.
A suggestion: In addition to using the the Sx terminology for the various sections would you please also include with your narration the corresponding compass point. At least until we get used to and familiar with the Sx identifications. It would also really, REALLY help if you added a compass graphic to your intro image so we can get oriented to the site. [Edit: Ah, I spoke too soon. You already did. And also thanks for including same for your traverses.] Thanks for listening and thanks for the updates.
Part of the slowed progress may be just having to wait 30 days for the concrete footings to sufficiently harden to raise the columns. Thanks for your Videoa.
28 days is generally understood for maximum design strength, and that's really a generalization. They could start loading columns on a footing within days if they wanted to. At GT the first gigapress was being assembled on its footing within days.
@@ZaneglerTeslaSemiStalker-vt3or I say thinner because I think I can make out shadows at the horizontal joint between the white and grey panels. The change shows up in the render at 9:55. Either side of all the loading docks. I'd say it's an architectural feature.
Hi Zanegler, so you don't lose everyone with the new Section nomenclature, how adout starting your videos with the final factory rendering (which you normally show at the end) with some lines denoting the sections and the Section Letters superimposed over the top? Cheers mate and have a good one!
I did create a grid of the old and new section labels as I was getting lost. It really helped me get it straight. Ill see about overlaying it on the render. Keep the suggestions coming. Except the ones about changing my voice. 😂
Alternatively, they have a mountainside behind the legacy giga nv building the could cover with ground mounted solar. The render does not show solar on the semi factory roof but they could change plans.
@@ZaneglerTeslaSemiStalker-vt3or Yes, but that really is too bad. I remember the excitement originally over Giga-Nevada, the very first giga-factory! Then, because there were no drone pilots, etc., information and general interest in that "mysterious" battery plant sort of dried up completely. Another short news cycle over. That has been "oh, hummm" .. along with the Tesla Semi (as an idea) ... until now, as the Semi has finally neared reality production and you and your videos (as well as Tesla announcements and Pepsi-co, etc.) have sparked the world's interest and enthusiasm again! Thanks, Zanegler! [EDIT ADDENDUM] It is actually amazing what a difference really being able to see things develop (longitudinally in stages) gives a sense of reality and the impact of new ideas and processes. For example, we have Giga-Texas and Giga-Berlin (and used to have Fremont and Giga-Shanghia) to show what Tesla can be as a company. We have SpaceX which just about everyone is interested in. But also there are places like the Latham Lithium factory and in Bastrop, TX, the StarLink factory and The Boring Company; Cortex and Xai supercomputer centers; Las Vegas tunnels; etc. Companies like Munro Live taking things apart and explaining; so many great TH-cam channels. So many interesting and innovative STEM technologies (and their social and psychological promises and consequences). So educational for the next generations of kids all over the world.
@@WarrenLacefield Drone pilot and TH-camr Tobias Lindh also has flight restrictions over Gigafactory Berlin. He gets around this restriction by positioning himself around the factory and greatly increasing the drone's altitude. So he can film the factory without invading its airspace.
@@TECTUSolarEnergy This is true about Giga-Berlin and other sites' security restrictions. There are lots of issues everywhere: e.g., the rail yard near Giga-Texas. Permissions are very important.

I was not able to fly on Thursday so we will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to see what progress has been made and if the cranes are still present. I feel strongly both ways as Billy Martin once said.
Great video! BTW, I had heard that Hypalon was discontinued. Do you know for sure what roofing material they are going to be using? Maybe EPDM or TPO? I'm also curious about what type on insulation they use. Thanks for all your work!
I do not know for sure which is why I said a hypalon-like material. It is the waterproof material they use on flat of nearly flat roofs. Perhaps a viewer can provide more color.
Flying around yacking doesn't cut it. Thanks Zanegler. Anyone watching this construction site should compare it to how fast the Chinese built Megafactory 3 in Shanghai 5 years ago in this WUWA video: th-cam.com/video/HNGLLedw1lQ/w-d-xo.html I counted over 50 cranes and was told they had 1000+ workers constructing Mega 3 in Shanghai.

2 women watching now, double that statistic 😅 very fired up for this factory
Awesome. Welcome to the channel.

1:40. Wall panels. Change in colour, thickness perhaps also. Architectural feature.
7:05. Roof. Orange lines marked. Might be expansion joint locations, or fire separation/compartmentation locations.

While I agree that self defining terms are best, if Tesla chooses to use confusing names then it behooves us to learn and use them ourselves.
