- The weather has been damp, misty and miserable for the past few days but today I'm going fishing!!! Fishing small tides and calm weather I have an incredible session on the boat catching some delicious eating fish. It just goes to show what having a positive and optimistic attitude can bring.
Don't forget to check out our sister channel @thefishlockerworkshop for helpful reviews and videos.

John - When attaching your Conger or wrecking rig, do you fasten it to your main drop line with a Uni knot, etc., or do you prefer to use a snap swivel or some other fastener for quicker changes? Sometimes it is difficult to see your terminal rigging process when you are in fishing rig deployment action.
Brilliant video as always John👍
@@mstrdiver - I show that exact thing in the video when unclipping the ling at the end. 😉👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker where is this location?
Always a pleasure to watch, top tactics and tips. Thankyou so much John I really enjoyed it.
Man, you constantly amaze me with your vast knowledge and damn near 6th sense for what is on the other end of your line. I am picking up so much valuable information from your videos! Please don't ever stop what you're doing, you're god's gift to the novice fisherman! Your son is lucky to have you as a father! I wish my father gave a damn about fishing when I grew up myself, but I only managed to nag him into taking me out for a short fishing-trip once in a rare while. Luckily now I can fish whenever I want. Even moved to an island for three years, where I could even fish from my balcony. Keep up the good work, it is much appreciated! I enjoy vicariously tagging along for you various cookouts and foragings! Much love from Norway!
edit: you remind me of my passed great uncle - lots of knowledge and skill wwhen it comes to fishing. he also taught me a lot. he used to be a machinist on ships going around the world. loved every second I spent with that man, and your videos are bringing me back some fond memories.nothing beats eating the day's cath over some late night fisherman's tales in his island-cabin from the 1800's, but your videos come damn close! cheers! have a blessed one!
I am honestly really very happy to hear that our videos are both interesting to you but also help bring back the joy of nostalgia for you. I am simply just sharing what I love doing in the hope that it helps. Wether that be through education or simply providing a positive distraction. Best wishes to you and have a wonderful day 😊👍🏻🎣
I love watching the videos not only are you a amazing steward of nature but I feel I could go fishing or foraging in the UK and do well with the education you have given us all.
I am glad that you find our videos both interesting and informative. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing. 😊👍🏻🎣
I would be over the moon with a session like that. You caught a variety of real nice fish there John. I would give anything to get amongst them. My mouth is watering for one of those bream, looks like a trip to the fish co-op for me in the morning. Keep up the great work.
There is a bream catch and cook that followed this video. 😉👍🏻
Thank you for bringing Great Joy to my Life John!! 🐟🦐🦞🐙🦀🦑🎣🎣🎣💙💙💙💙🤗
Debra it is our absolute pleasure 😊🎣
Nice bream 21.22 love the sound of the bells so carming keep the good fishing up
I will do my best Paul. 😊
John your PMA ( positive Mental Attitude) makes this channel so much fun to watch. I love that your content is very family friendly. My son is 3 this month and loves your channel. He loves it when Fish Locker Jr is with you. Once James gets big enough to do some fishing of his own ( without being as cautious) he should have a Fish Locker Jr channel for kiddos. Keep on reeling and catching and we will keep on watching. Hoping some of the tips and tricks I can use when we end up back in Florida
I am so very glad to hear that you are enjoying our videos with your family. Being able to share these things and experiences with my own family have been a deep joy in my life. James is at school now so cannot fish with me as much sadly.
That's cool man and I really do appreciate seeing people getting their kids interested in fishing and foraging in rock pools cuz theirs so much to learn plus if you like eating fish then theirs plenty of that too, I was lucky my grandad looked after in summer holidays in the 80s and instead of sitting me infront of the TV he took me to the beach or fishing off the pier, once we lost a huge skate off the pier it chewed through 40lb line in seconds but luckily myself and about 10 other people got a look at it. It was certainly a day I'll never forget. Anyway keep up the interest man it's the best hobby in the world 🌎
When i was 8 i remember catching a whiting of the east coat, Bridlington my grandma showed me how to clean the fish, we then cooked in an iron skillet with butter, i can still taste that gorgeous fish 42 years later, fond memories
Fresh they are wonderful. 😊👍🏻
Another nice trip John! I always watch your videos on the weekend to de-stress from work. Obviously a lot of work editing and so on is involved, but the atmosphere coming across to viewers is peaceful, calm and very relaxing! I am 100% with you on your fishing sustainably and also not fishing for sport. No animal is to be played with for humans edification! Great work John!
Don't get me wrong, fishing for me is a lot of fun. I love it. And fishing for fish I know that I am not going to eat doesn't stop me from feeling excited about catching them. But if you are going to release a fish, you need to treat it properly and with respect. 👍🏻🎣
Thank you for teaching uncle John Fish Locker!
😊
Always having fun to watch your fishing skills really big respect to you.nice view ,nice fish ,and a nice man .thanks for this amazing adventure.
I am glad you enjoyed joining me. 😊🐟
what a crackin' day out, Bream is on my bucket list, never had one.... yet, thanks for sharing John 👍🎣
Oh woe is me, the fisherman's life is a hard one.... Isn't it John? Stay safe and keep these quality videos coming. Envy from the Colonies! ;-)
Well I hope you manage to snaffle one soon Melv.
If you find yourself out of Littlehampton, fish over Beerpan rocks.
I miss rain, rain, rain, weekly gales, and horizontal trees. Cross of St. Piran- white for clouds, fog, and surf, black for doom, gloom, and the colour of our hearts.
Cheer up mate. It’s Monday. 😊👍🏻
Thank you John, your's is about the best TH-cam channel out there - your positive attitude and knowledge are most admirable sir.

Thank you Mike and best wishes. 😊
Great session and a great video thanks John - one of the best! Well done for dispelling the 'handling Mackerel' myth. Well done on the Bream too - I've never caught one but understand they are great eating. great variety of species. Shame the Ling was deep hooked but another tasty morsel for the freezer! Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
I must get asked about the mackerel myth 40 or 50 times a year. 🤷🏻♂️
@@TheFishLocker😂😆🤷🏻
Another great session John, thanks for sharing. You were obviously pleased as you were left breaming from ear to ear! 😃
Very clever pun. 😉👍🏻
Another fantastic video. Glued to the screen from start to finish. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Proper belter of a bream sesh. 👍🏻
Awesome day as always. Nice looking bream. Thanks for the tag along. God bless, stay safe and well.
It is my pleasure Sandra, I am glad you couldn’t join me. 😊
That bell gently clanging behind you, reminds me of the 'Mile Buoy' off our shore... Sometimes, I found it to be 'company' when you're stood on the end of the pier on your own....
Quite haunting at times.
Never a dull moment with you John. Always informative videos wit your great commentary & to go with it today you caught some lovely Black Bream , some delightful Wrasse, a Ling & of course, the inevitable Dog Fish oh, & an Eel. Great viewing as always John, cheers, Don from South Aust.

Thank you. 😊
What a session, and for me possibly, black bream is the tastiest fish out there, amazing done on the BBQ keep your videos coming. 👍
They surely are a wonderful eating fish aren't they. 😊
It is so nice to watch this video. It is like when I am watching my nacional team playing on the World Cup.
I am glad you enjoyed the video. 😊👍🏻
Another great video. Your so lucky to have calm weather down there, it's rare fishing off Newhaven with the prevailing south westerly's.
With regards to your laying a scent trail down to attract the fish. A technique I have used to great success is to make a mackerel and other fish lollypop by putting guts and offcuts of the fish I've caught on a previous trip in a bucket and fill it with water. I then put a T of wood in the bucket with a short rope tied to it before putting it in a chest freezer. When going fishing off rough ground I clip the lollypop to the anchor chain before casting the anchor. The ice lollypop then sits just off the bottom slowly melting and releasing a massive scent trail and the odd titbit of food. Your bait will then sit in the middle of this trail and you will get massively better catches. Try it out and see for yourself.
I don’t need to mate. I already do something similar. But explain please, what happens if you have to haul the anchor in to re anchor for a better position?
@@TheFishLocker Then you do just that, If the lollypop has fully melted then it's all gone. If not then it goes with your anchor on repositioning. The scent trail will always be down tide of the anchor. The only problem occurs if there is a strong wind pushing you off to the side. However, if there's a strong wind your unlikely to be out there anyway. A bucket sized lollypop usually lasts about an hour or so. I suppose another way of laying a scent trail would be to attach a mesh bag filled with fish bits to the anchor, a bit like chumming.
The bream are a lovely looking fish, another great session on the fish locker boat 🚤 👍🏼
Mate they are stunning when they are in full breeding colours aren't they. 😊
@@TheFishLocker sure are! Almost don’t expect to see those colours in a fish in uk waters 👍🏼
Magic fishing ! Thankyou for the movie.
It is our pleasure. 😊
Well been away from sea fishing for 15 years. After binge watching you for a fortnight I have dug out my pair of Abu Atlantic zoom 464’s. I had conoflex, team diawa etc back in the day but sold them when I gave up. But I remember the 464’s and could outcast most and caught more fish with them than any modern carbon super rods. These haven’t seen the light of day for 20+ years. Thanks to you tomorrow they be getting wet. Just a shallow solway estuary mark near Annan. New line on my shimano GTX fixed spool and penn 525 mag. Keep up the great videos.
I wish you the best of luck mate. 👍🏻🎣
Brilliant, i havent been deep sea fishing since my dad died when i was 12, i loved it so im very envious.
I hope you get chance to get out fishing again soon. 👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker i cant see it happening unfortunatly, im 64 year old now but i love your videos, gives me great memories.
I've been watching your videos since the beginning, mate. Always enjoying it. Cheers, mate!
Glad to hear you're still enjoying the videos Brandon. 😊
Another great video John. Really enjoyed the content for a while. Remember, you don’t need to rise to every challenge, I know you don’t but very few are as knowledgable as yourself so let’s keep fishing. Kind regards
I'm not sure what it is you mean Oliver? Was there a period of time when you stopped enjoying the videos? If you have any constructive feedback I am always happy to listen. Take care and stay safe. 😊🎣
No no, I’ve been enjoying the content for a long while now is what I meant, that hasn’t stopped. I was just commenting on the anti fishing section at the beginning as it seemed to have frustrated you a little. Keep up the great work mate. Take care.
Omg you have some great fishing down there spoilt for choice
Can't think of a better way too pass my lunch break great video
Keep it up mate
Haha. It’s the angler who find the fish. 😉
Wow John now that’s what a call a red letter day.All the very best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏴🏴🏴
Best bream session I have ever had.
Thanks John another cracking video.
Good to have a video that's long then normal as well.
Always looking forward to the next video released.
Some folks want shorter ones 15-20 mins. Some want longer. I will try and mix it up a bit. 👍🏻
All that time Fishing and you never mentioned that, Bell Lol. great video, thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us
I didn’t think it needed mentioning. 🤣
Great day of fishing!!! I think I enjoyed it almost as much as you!!! Thanks John!!! 😊
Really? Because I had an amazing time. 😊👍🏻
Cracking video again John and at least the weather got better, nothing worse than an hour of drizzel to get soaked to the skin.
Cameras do not like the rain.
Sunday evening, the wind outside is doing crazy 120 km/h. You've just made yourself a mug of sage/mint + honey tea. You get a notification on YT that there is a new ~45 minute video of The Fish Locker. Best winter sunday evening possible 😊 Cheers!
Win win. 👌🏻👍🏻
Good afternoon John 😊 what a great day's fishing,and those Bream are cracking.Enjoy eating them ..... l know l would.All the very best 🌱🌱🌱💕
Cooking video inbound. 😉
Another great video. Thanks for bringing us along
My pleasure. 😊🎣
Another brill video. I always look forward to watching your videos. Keep them coming John.
Thank you. 😊
Bream is definetly one ov my favourite fish to eat.super nice dinner that is.lovely catch👍
They are delicious aren’t they. 😊👍🏻
Hi John
Some beautiful black bream taken there buddy, excellent eating size too,
I was out on the beach 2rods, last Friday night and a 7hr blank, 5hours up and 2 back, not a sniff, spring and summer beach I think,
Perfect conditions, full tide at 9, giving 6hrs in the dark, frustrating.
A least some are catching, maybe we all need to move to Cornwall, how many caravans fit in your garden, hahaha,
Take care John, stay safe, regards to Hannah and the youngsters, and keep it lit 👍 my friend.
Haha. Don’t worry mate, folks down here still blank. Especially at this time of year. The angler just finds the fish. 😉😛
You must have slept well that night after that shift you put in, none stop action. Those bream certainly make a good account of themselves on the light gear. Tremendous action packed video John. Hope you weren't late at the school gates.
Haha. No I wasn't late but none of the other parents stood too close. I think the smell of squid and fish kept them off. 🤣
Well done! Makes me want to fix up my old Grady White , and start salt water fishing again! Well done!
You should do and get after it. 👍🏻😊🐟
So glad that you hadn't lost your touch with the dog fish, I think that secretly you like them. Hopefully you got back in time to collect James. Another great video as always, hope Jim enjoyed the bream.
I like them enough that I don’t curse them. 🤣
Lol,don't complain about the weather. If you were here you'd be making ice fishing videos. Enjoying your content
🤣🥶
What a terrific fisherman you are. Enjoy the multi species videos very much
Thank you very much sir.
Soporific and therapeutic stuff Well done!
I am just glad that people enjoy joining us. 😊
Great days fishing, great variety of species.
Fantastic session wasn’t it. Best ever bream catches.
Got a new rod as a present, amazing 3.5m casting rod, gave it a small test today and amazing feel, bad thing was, forgot my bait ! And the area is always full of people, so now I'll be able to do some beach fishing because of that amazing casting!
Entertaining to see a 1.50m man casting a rod almost three times his size ahahaha
Haven't gotten any luck with my other rod but it was a very small one so, fingers crossed!!
Great video and an amazing week for you and your family John!
Remember mate. It’s not the size of the rod, it’s how you wiggle it. 😉🤣
@@TheFishLocker by far the best response I've read 😂
Thanks for that John,a grand watch on a wild night.
My pleasure. 😊👍🏻
Great trip John, thanks for sharing it with us.
Glad you enjoyed it mate, what a brilliant session it was. 😊
Loved how happy you were to hit the target species first up, like a kid at Christmas 😂🎣👍
No hiding that excitement was there. 🤣
that was a right action packed day,
I loved it. 😊🎣
Some fantastic fishing and a few for pot and bait
Brilliant all round wasn’t it. 😊🎣💙
Excellent content John, it is the best on TH-cam! Every Sunday, I wait for your video and it makes my day. So much education and learning from your videos it’s incredible. Well done matey.
Everyday is a choolbday!
I am glad you enjoy the videos Daryl. Take care sir and stay safe. 😊👍🏻
Yes it is the best channel on TH-cam for UK fishing. Who else has caught big tuna??? He wasnt targeting em though with the integra 130 n rod like a broom handle. No great whites in UK,.... But he was shark fishing. Ha. Good video. That graham from totally awesome fishing is a joke, who wants to watch somebody catch roach in a small pond with maggots? Haha. Muppet, we can all do that ourselves.
@@TheFishLocker thank you John, the pleasure is all mine. Have a great day and convey my regards to family.
I love that barracuda you caught ! That was to Kool !
Not sure if you were referring to another video?
What a great day fishing! Awesome video! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed joining me Eric 😊👍🏻
Hi John Great Video I like it when you said" I got 2 bait fish " I am thinking there is my dinner " Best Wishes to you and the family

Excellent watch…another good session. Nice one. 👍
Thank you. 😊👍🏻
Just re started my passion for fishing with my son your video been helping loads. Thanks
That’s wondeful to hear. 😊🎣
Top bombing sir! You make it look so easy catching mackerel. Some of the most entertaining and yet relaxing content on TH-cam. Your channel and content really help my depression and anxiety.
If the videos are helping anyone out then they have been worth making. 😊👍🏻
to be fair, catching mackerel is very easy, as long as you are where the mackerel are. they can be hard not too catch sometimes when they're in the area in my experience :P
Great day out there John. Those are some cracking Black Bream!
Stunners weren’t they. 😊👍🏻
Another brilliant video John and some absolute belting Bream.
Best bream session I’ve even had.
Great video as usual John. Fingers crossed we can have some more settled weather
Fingers crossed mate. 😊👍🏻
I can appreciate the differences in the human palate. You throw back fish that I personally enjoy eating, and then keep fish that I see as OK. ( I love to eat Oysters and Limpets. ) Hot buttered Lobster and Scallops - we definitely agree there! Have you found that elusive Thresher Shark yet - YUM!
The Threshers just migrate through past us. So you have a short window of opportunity when they are nearby. I’ve missed them until they head back past.
Catching up on your videos. What fantastic bream, so now I move on to the catch and cook. As always great content (love the harbour porpoise in the background) thanks for posting.
They are cute things aren't they the harbour porpoise. Nowhere near as brash as dolphins.
Great video John, nice to see you catching so many species, went on my fifth pike outing today and guess what my fifth blank, thinking of putting my kit up on ebay !!!
You don’t know if you don’t try. 😉👍🏻
Beautiful, calm winter day for being out on the boat. We just accumulated 2ft of snow and no fishing action with wind gusts to 40mph !
Someone must be experiencing the NE bomb cyclone along with the thundersnow, right now. Keep it tucked inside where it is safer and warmer.
My rig for this game is a shovel !
I hope you guys are ok. Stay safe and keep warm.
WOW ! For Whom the Bell Tolls, delicious Bream.
Eerie isn’t it.
Regarding your razor clam foraging with a tub of salt. If you put a large amount of table salt in a 5litre garden sprayer and keep topping up with sea water it will last a whole session and no bending down as you just use the lance to spray high salted water down the holes.
You can spray 30 holes in the time it takes to pour salt in 5
And how do I get the salt back out of the watering can when I am finished without wasting it?
@@TheFishLocker you don’t you save it for next time.
You leave a watering can filled with saltwater for a Fortnite until the next set of spring tides? You see the point I’m getting at. Using salt in a bottle is more convenient and equally as effective.
@@TheFishLocker not a watering can a pump spray bottle
Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance. Nice video John as always.
* Bream remind me of Scup here in New England. I have a blast catching them on my kayak. I have the grasp mastered to avoid the spines but sometimes 😫🤣
Cradle and press against the chest is usually fine. But every now and then a thrash gets you. 😆
Lovely video John, I love all the extra bits of information with rig/anchor setups ect that you pack into your videos. As always mate cheers for sharing 👍
I hope the info helps folks out. That’s what it’s all about. 😊👍🏻🎣
Awesome job you have good nolage of the area you are in and the fish you catch 😀
I do my best. 😊
Wow! Some variety there. Nice work.
Thank you.
Love it. A cracking session on the boat mate well in. Good to see some great bream bro top class Angling as always. Tight lines 🎣🎣🎣

Dude, love your fishing channel. The fish are a bit different from here in the US but the fun of fishing for the tasty critters in the same! God bless!
Fishing is fishing the world over. Your fishing over in the US is amazing. I have always though our bream are a lot like your Sheephead.

Good luck bud. 👍🏻🎣
@@TheFishLocker thank you 👍

I'd be happy just catching the stuff you use for bait. Don't fish myself, but love watching it. Perhaps a bit of prepping and cooking too.
I just love all of it. 😊👍🏻🎣
@@TheFishLocker That comes across by the way you share your love of it. I enjoyed the recent shell fish chowder cooking. Desperately wanted some. Made a fish pie instead.
Bream are a fantastic fish to catch. Takes many years for them to grow. Fantastic work mate 👌

Good Nz morning John. As usual , another great video mate. I've been subbed with you for I think 2 years? And each episode never fails to educate/entertain. Thank you for taking the time to upload, and for sharing your experiences. Much appreciated.
Hullo to the rest of the family too. Stay safe. Atb from down under.
The channel has grown and taken on a life of its own. I have really enjoyed chronicaling our adventures and sharing them with you.
Watched a lot of your vids, the ring on the buoy is brilliant! Will be changing my anchor system soon
😉👍🏻 There are videos showing exactly how to use it.
Gradely bream lad. I remember an episode of Out of Town with Jack Hargreaves when he went bream fishing with some mates. They filled the freezers that day.
If you can locate a good shoal they are ravenous!!
Another great session John, it would not be a session without the dreaded doggies haha. Love the bream and the size of those pouting. Nice Ling, very tasty!! Thanks for clearing up the myth about handling mackerel! I was fishing in Devon and a mackerel I bought up had a good size scar on it, so something took a good bite out of it. Cheers John, all the best to the family. Graham🎣🎣🎣👍👍
Like I said mate. The more you mess with them the more harm you will do, but being careful they are fine.
Great video as always. Always enjoy your videos
Thank you. 😊🐟
I love to fish and wish you and I weren't oceans apart, literally! Would love to wet a line with you. Always great content!
Who knows where the future may take us. 😊🤷🏻♂️
Hi John
A great video yet again. We were out on the same day and you passed us on your way home. Like you we had a great day, no black bream but managed twelve different species, using some of you rig designs. Thanks for your tips and sharing, roll on your next trip.
Brilliant stuff. 👍🏻
