I’m in my 20s, & I recently left a company with toxic culture. No changes came from concerns I voiced, and they were somehow surprised when I gave them my notice 6 months later. The stress and anxiety of the job led me to gain back the 30 lbs I had worked hard to lose 2 years before, & I was diagnosed with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), which I am now working to recover from. Months later, I am still struggling with the effects it’s had on my mental health, but I have absolutely no regrets in leaving. I’m glad I finally decided to be honest with myself & take care of my health, b/c damn is it expensive to repair!

@Meow🐈 Try to reach a state of equanimity. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 10-15 minutes or more. Let thoughts come. Slowly negative thoughts will reduce and relax the mind. Whenever you are free during the day or night sit still for a few minutes and observe your breath. Being still reduces negative thoughts. Make it a habit. Do the above meditation regularly to have a relaxed life. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

Low and behold... ANOTHER EVEN MORE TOXIC JOB.... I used to be such a calm, collected person, but now, I feel sick all the time, I don't even enjoy my free time, and everything feels hopeless... Idk if it's covid, or what, but.... It makes my years of hard work in high school and college feel like thyy were worthless...

I would work for this guy. I was working at a steel mill for 18.5 years 7 days a week swinging shifts. It wrecked my health. They wrote me up for being sick and suspended me one day for 5 call offs on one year. I was working every day and I was constantly sick. They wanted me to write a letter stating how I can improve on my attendance. I went home talked it over with my girlfriend. She said I will type the email but you will have to hit send. That letter she emailed was my resignation. No regrets just uncertainty of finding something. I pictured myself being put in the ground by the time I was 55. I had to quit that job

As a nurse, I burnt out within 2 years as a young 20 something year old. I developed anxiety, had gained all this weight I didn’t know I could and my rltshp was strained because I was always irritable. The management was terrible. The amount of risks involved in a medical professionals job is so much higher (I always worry ill give the wrong meds due to all the distractions). There was no support from management, only blame culture. If not a for a few supportive coworkers I would’ve left the industry. I’m a lot better now in a sense that I restrain myself so I don’t give too much of myself at work in order to protect myself. It’s not how I would ideally work but I can guarantee the company will not be paying for my mental and physical health conditions I develop from the extreme stress.

    • @susannad4463
      @susannad4463 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

This is exactly what I have been experiencing. It’s no joke being a nurse. The demands are so high on us because there isn’t 5 of us doing the job that one person is supposed to do. I do have a lot of anxiety, and I do find myself eating just to eat. I guess getting one break In a 12 hour shift makes me binge eat because I’m scared I won’t be able to eat for the rest of the day. The distractions are one of the most difficult things to manage too. I’m really trying to work on not giving too much of myself at work, because I’m burning out quick. Thank you for replying, it feels good to relate to someone.

I am doing everything right, my boss keeps delegating duties and re-delegating and rearranging, the environment isn't active, I'm having a lot of responsibility with little money, barely can save... I can't save actually. My leg keeps getting sore.... I can feel myself burning and not wanting to wake up to work. I'm so tired I don't look forward to Mondays. 😭

My workplace gives us an over abundant amount of information. Emails, having to do way too many tests every day on work-based learning and cleaning up corporate mess is a huge issue in my workplace. Too much information makes it hard to process. It causes so much stress and burnout for me. I'm also a perfectionist and that makes it even more so.
Not to mention micromanagement which is another huge issue.... these managers are 'trained' to micromanage. ,

Very spot on. The focus of the investments by companies are measured by revenue as their metric. Health of the employees has been shown to promote all divisions of company growth yet its not taught in our universities or in industry to the same extent as finance. Every CEO should see this to create vibrant environments for people and productivity.

But in the end, I got laid off because the company had major internal issues among the team members with political, management, and leadership, etc. The entire company had to downsize by 40%. I am thankful for the job and can't think of other choices as I'm worried I wouldn't get an opportunity like this especially being a mother.

Denise, Try to reach a state of equanimity. I have been pratcicing for years. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

I'm not sure where you're located, but in the UK education level doesn't equate to wealth or happiness. It can help for sure, but investing lots of time into education here isn't a guarantee return. I've known many people have taken higher education to be no further forward, and others who magically ended up in high paying roles despite having low education.

It also depends what you study. I would advise young people to avoid the humanities/social sciences and go into the trades. Or, if you are going for humanities, find the quickest and cheapest program. Most office workers just need *a* degree, any degree. So there's no point in wasting time and money on elaborate university programs, many of which are just left-wing political brainwashing anyway (I am a recent graduate of one such program in a major North American public university).

Corporations are owned by wealthy people but a stress at a work place comes to poor people. So, there is no need for wealthy people to change smth. Wealthy people are wealthy already. What benefits will they get from reducing stress on their employees? More money? But they don't need more, they already have enough to rule politicians and lawmakers, buy super luxuary houses, yachts and jets. So, this poor world condition has appeard due to avarice and there are no reasons to expect that something will be changed by means of a free will.

My job is chill but the management is bad . I have like 4 managers each say one thing . I’m also a back up cashier and when I need to finish marking down a whole section of sales floor I can’t cause I get called up to the register. And I loose time and all the other co workers get mad cause I didn’t finish and I’m off the next day and marking down never gets finished by me not even my managers say anything but the co workers . The main manager hasn’t even said nothing about me , I show up and ask what is my task for today and I keep asking when I completed each thing he says so I won’t be standing . I wish the co workers knew what it is to be callled up to register and deal with customers sometimes I think they’re a bit envious cause I can do multiple things around the store and they have to be in one place all day . I work at a thrift store by the way

Friend, I am sure you are watching English speaking videos. Another tip to speak and improve English is to talk to any one friend daily for 1 or 2 minutes on the mobile phone and talk on anything. Ask questions like "How are you? "What did you have for breakfast? Do you enjoy watching TV shows? etc. The person on the other side must also reply and ask you simple questions. All question -answers must be in full sentence and not one word. Even if you ask silly questions it is ok. After 10 days of practice start speaking longer sentences. If you do the above practice your English will improve a lot in 20 days because you will start thinking in English. Best wishesa. Shyaaam Sir- Counsellor.

Poor supervisors with the employee = slave mentality. Passive aggressive retaliation for speaking up. Employee advocates are needed in house. Trust is nearly extinct in these environments. The ability to anonymously speak, comment, request, report is needed also with a public acknowledgement that the comment has been received and will be addressed.

"I work with wealthy families and help them achieve their financial goals" This is what made me stop, less than one minute into the video. Want to know why most people's lives are stressfull when they do not need to be? Because they work hard for little when the economy raises when pay does not and debt increases, putting strain on the "average lifestyle" ruining lives and the country. It's time we treated people like people, and everyone is a person. You cannot expect to relieve stress when you assist those that hoover all the resources for themselves, you make suffering exponential.
