What you need to do is gear the motor so it spins up to it's rated rpm at around 20 to 25 mph, making that your top speed. What you have is totally wrong, even the motor sprocket is way oversize- you get very little power out of it and will burn it out if used very much. I don't remember the ratio I ended up with on my similar motored bike but it probably was around 15 to 17 to one (the motor spins that many times to one rpm of the wheel) for a 26" bike wheel. I put a vid up on my channel of my bike.
@@yahya-zr1yw He needs the smallest sprocket he can get on the motor and the biggest he can get on the back wheel- even better would be using a 20 inch set of wheels which would help the motor spin more. Remember to use V brakes or better on both ends.
The concept is good, but the battery used won't last long enough to go far, and not sure if that motor is strong enough to use on more than flat services. Going uphill on even the slightest incline would drain the battery quickly or the motor just wouldn't have the strength. Nice idea though.
He must be new to what an e-bike should be... thumbs up for doing it cheap or for whatever he had lying around the house E-bikes need a brush less motor controller too not just the battery and motor. The lithium ion batteries that are used for an e-bike usually have a BMS for good reason. Why not have a single freewheel sprocket wheel in the front...it might fit that way it won't rotate the crank + you could help the motor when going up hill
I personally tried this before even watching this video! Good idea? It's definitely a fail ,doesn't work even if upping the voltage. You're better off getting a $25 motor controller and voltage regulator! I blew up my (drill trigger) after running it only a minute it burnt my hand through my gloves! Plus the gear sprocket is way too big no torque at all I did the same thing! Use a 12 tooth sprocket! This was one of my own ideas, I'd like to say it was a good one but I can't!
Not good idea...you still have a pedal rotation when you use the motor,,I think you need to improve it like put another free wheel sprocket to avoid the pedal include working while you used the motor..
Some information subtitles would of been useful, I'm not very good at identifying such electronical parts by site. What type of motor are you using, what vultage is the motor? And where can I get one, and what was all the other parts you used and where/how can I get them please?
use a large gear over the size of a plate so that it can go fast after riding the load. You can install it to the left of the rear wheel so that if the electric motor is active the bicycle pedal doesn't turn.
You need a reducer or power transmission gear system because putting it directly to the bicycle sprockets reduces the torque and a drill battery is not enough.
I won't be getting this time back that I have wasted watching this video, this was truly shocking the guy could do so serious damage to himself if he got his legs caught. Stay safe people
I'm asking myself, "Self, why are you watching this!"😁😂😆 Another wasted 10 minutes of my life... Well, not a total waste! I did learn something! I'm smarter than I give myself credit for ☺️😉☺️ I'll share a video soon, on how to do this correctly!👍😎 Have a good night 😁
I would wind up hanging my left leg on the motor. It would, most definitely have to be an 90° offset, to lay the motor parallel to the tubing. Like a windshield wiper motor, for example. Don't get me wrong, I like where you are going with that setup. But, I don't like the motor and chain telegraphing back through the pedals. It would have to work through a freewheel cogset.
Al. Davis nope. You can mount the motor just above where the pedals & crank would be. Just remove them. Only issue will be if the chain is compatible with the motor sprocket.
Your voltage from battery is very low, compare to your motor, the battery is only 12volts,and your motor is 24 volts.i recommended to you is the battery is higher than the motor.keep it up man...
I would have used a charger mounted to the bike so the battery would be easy to remove to charge or to take with me when I went inside. You also need a one way bearing somewhere in the system so foot pedals don't turn when using motor. I wonder if a troling motor would power a bike for assist on hills. They are made for wet environments.
Hi! Im building a similar build for my electric bike, and i have a question about your motor. If you pedal the bike while using it, would that charge the battery? I heard that motors can also be used for generators, and since your manually rotating the motor while biking and its connected to a battery, would it charge the battery then?
It would only charge the battery if you pedal without turning the motor on. However this is only possible with a brushed DC motor design (ie permanent magnets in the stator). If you use the same motor to charge the battery make sure that when it is in generator mode the electricity produced is in the safe voltage/current range to charge the battery and that it does not charge the battery with the wrong polarities
He knows it needs a stronger battery obviously but it shows what you can do with serif you already have. I think really cool. Hopefully makes people's brain starry to think. Can you click it out of gear with the hand controls ahead on the bike? That alone would reduce drag friction etc and help especially with better battery
Could you please share with us a rough estimate of your top speed using that configuration and estimate maximum range using that battery because the plug-and-play aspect of that battery arrangement it is very appealing to me
You can mount a flash light or something and then just be able to pop the batteries in and out like normal. No risk with loose wiring battery harnesses
I found a free working 250w 24v kids scooter (batteries went dead so they tossed it out) and a free 800w 24v motor out of a chair stair lift for disabled people. Hoping to build a decent ebike for under $200 (build a 24 or 36v battery pack) A good full suspension ebike is just too expensive.
I'm going to call this a fail

Yess ur right it doesn't make any sense

These motors needs 24V to 36V and consumes from 250W to 500W depending of model.

Remove front chain drive so you can now use only the motor to push or add a freewheel on the front crank

It would be a win if you didn't have the pedal as fast as the motor goes but unfortunately you can only go as fast as You can move your legs
Good effort 👍🏻 but you should more work on it best of luck
I think a Freewheel on your crank arms one on each side could solve the problem of the ghost pedaling
chop off the chain for the peddles, parallel wire a few more batts, tick weld the peddles so they are static, boom u good
I Rather buy a Bafang motor it comes with free wheels so you don’t have to pedal. Nice job but, you can’t keep your feet on the pedals.

I think with the right cog set up and a decent motor attachment bracket, you could be on to a winner.
