  • Now these are the AMAZING, FAST AND AMAZING Dover Elevators at Chattanooga's Tallest Building, the Republic Centre!!!! As you will see, I had WAY too much fun on these!!!! These may only be 21 floors, but they FLY!!!! Despite the Main Elevators being Slapped On with Impulse in 1990, these are otherwise mostly original from 1975, and are VERY THRILLING to ride!!!!! Going down on these is like being on TOWER OF TERROR!!!!! And going up is like being launched up in a rocket!!!! These are pretty smooth, but you can really FEEL these MOVE!!!! These go around 800-1000 FPM for just 21 floors!!!! While the Main Elevators are now Impulse, the Service Elevator featured in the video is COMPLETELY ORIGINAL from 1975, with it's ORIGINAL Older Push-In Traditional fixtures and square light indicators!!!! Despite being a Service Elevator though, it is still VERY EPIC with a Nice side door, Classic Leveling, it's ORIGINAL Fixtures, and in addition, it's goes SUPER FAST as well!!!!! My cousins were with me and we later had a little "elevator party" on the service elevator later in the video!!!! I had WAY TOO MUCH fun on these!!!!!
And as a bonus, at the end, we ride the ORIGINAL 1975 Dover Black Halo Traditional Hydros in the Parking Garage, which while not THRILLING like the Main Elevators and Service Elevators, they are COMPLETELY ORIGINAL and have LOTS of Character!!!!!!!!
These Lifts were SO AMAZING, and I hope they NEVER get modernized!!!!!
With that said, let's ride on some AMAZING, FUN, Dovers, that are probably some of the most fun Elevators I've ever ridden in my life!!!! If you EVER come to Chattanooga, you HAVE to ride these!!!!! These are TRULY A MUST RIDE!!!!
Installed: 1975 (Main Elevators and Service Elevator, Dover Older White Traditional; Parking Elevators: Dover Black Halo Traditional)
Modernized: 1990 (Main Elevators Only, Dover Impulse COP replacement and call buttons in lobby replaced with Newer White Dover Traditional, but call stations on upper floors, equipment, controllers, motors, cabs, etc. Left original, and the Service Elevators and Parking Elevators left original!!!)

I have never seen that many buttons in the standard impulse layout before. Usually they would use custom impulse

I just now saw this vid. And holy crap, that car panel is MASSIVE. This might be the tallest non-custom impulse out there.

The second car you rode in had (at least) its selector replaced by something solid state. The first car and the service car both still had the original Dover Starwheel selectors. You can tell as the floor indicators blink on and off between floors... similar to Otis 6850 selector with the pie plates (although Dover Starwheel looks very different from 6850... more like a Schindler selector but in a horizontal orientation). The selector on the second car probably crashed and it was found to be more economical (and/or faster) to just replace it with something newer. It's interesting that they made the effort to have brailles in the cars but not on the landings. Anyway, nice find and nice video.

It may say TKE on the indicator but Dover did put in the impulse panel due to the blue door control plates

I am pretty sure the controller for the main elevators has been replaced. Notice how the indicator changes numbers fast, while on relay controllers the indicator usually takes more time to refresh.

atomicjellydragon True, but some change faster. I'm pretty positive the controller on the Main cars is original
