      is it just me or has india lost some of it's disputed territory (jammu and kashmir) to china and pakistan?
      bc the map in this video is different than the one i see online. ik how google maps play all sides by showing different maps to different countries but what I wanna know is who's in actual control of that territory?

    I don't know India very well, it looks like such a diverse country it's a daunting challenge to learn even the basics. However, decades of dealing with Indian immigrants in the West (both US and Europe) have given me a very friendly outlook on the culture(s). Indians are smart, friendly, humble and spiritual. @@Bowlyful As I understand it the deal with france was not about nuclear subs and that the deal was becoming very costly and had delays. This is of course common when it comes to arms deals of such complicated systems, but Australia can't really wait. The western forces in the east must increase fast to contain China. French pride is a small price to pay, especially for Australia, who are far more reliant on the US, UK and Japan, when it comes its national security. If Europe had a united military and a large blue water navy with bases and ships in the pacific, it would be another matter (not as in threatening Australia, but as in being a useful partner for the containment of China). As of now, Europe is trying to play both sides and is far more concerned over a potential trade war than Chinas rising military power in the pacific.

    • @n4palfey
      @n4palfey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +80

      @@Bowlyful The French suppliers weren't meeting cost, timeliness, or capabilities that were promised, and Australian politicians had been saying this and looking for a way out for years. And because of this... The French shouldn't (and weren't) be suprised regarding the cancelations. Although they were probably surprised about this US step-in to meet an Australian requirement. France is usually transactional in its military relations with most of the Anglo-sphere or even NATO (1966-2009), and always France first. On top of that economic powers of Europe are less supportive of "hold China to international law" China policy as they need China more than the US does... Although Austrilia needs them more than either, they have a proximity issues that France and Germany don't... Macrons government is using this as a cudgel, Yankee bashing and decrying victimhood, generally go over well in internal politics, and China likes hearing it as well.

    • @the_negativereview
      @the_negativereview 2 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      @@Bowlyful The submarines were relatively obsolete and the whole deal was costly. France is literally just being dramatic. "US is an unreliable ally and Nato means nothing" that's a classic propaganda line that Russia and China want people to believe.
      The United States is literally the only force countering China ATM. European countries under-spend in military and eastern europe loves US protection against Russia - which is why you'll see those countries kissing up to the US while western europe just doesn't care because they aren't under threat. Asian countries that want to resist China need the USA because its pretty much the only protection they're gonna get until they can improve their own military capabilities.

      Look at Western Europe vs Eastern Europe
      or even now Nato Europe and non-NATO Europe (one of them might be invaded pretty soon)
      Look at the example of the middle east I gave you, compare to those who resisted (Syria, Libya, Iraq, etc)
      Look at Venezuela vs Chile
      Mexico vs Canada
      North Korea vs South Korea
      even PRC vs ROC until very recently, and even now the average Taiwanese Chinese is much wealthier than the average mainland Chinese
      look at Japan
      look at 5 eyes Oceania
      look at African Allies vs African opponents
      and even look at the Middle East, those who submitted (Turkey, Israel, Saudi, UAE, Kuwait and EVERY other gulf state etc)
      vs those who resisted (Iraq, Syria, Lybia, etc)
      is it really better?
      or is it just pride and a vague sense of injustice as to "why should I submit to those useless Americans?" not realizing that even once-great empires have submitted to them and their citizens live much better lives? they can have whatever social programs they want, even run authoritarian governments if they wish? the US as an empire asks for very little in exchange for a whole world of benefits of peace, stability, and prosperity when you look at it dispassionately
      sometimes I think the reflexive bent towards resistance to a clearly dominant power is often not well thought out and the arguments on resistance based on pride grounds or cultural difference or whatever don't really make sense. Ranging from rather stupid and counterproductive (in the case of national pride) to not really a concern (in the case of cultural difference because the US empire does consist of numerous countries of numerous cultures)
      it's just something that I feel is not often talked about when it comes to the US. but I mean let Iran's leaders resist as long as they want, ultimately all they get is poor and frustrated citizens.

India wasn't left out of BRI by China by design, but (China) could neither force nor entice India to join it, a failure on China's part to influence/ control India either thru loan sharking(Debt trap) or thru accessibility to various countries, esp. Central Asian countries, thru CPEC.
