As I sit here trying to cool off after working outside in 101° heat all day, and 90°+ for the last week, and I make less than $30G a year, I wanna say, "CRY ME A FREAKING RIVER!"
Can you move out of that horrific state? You'd be better off if you can save up whatever you can, pennies a day until you have enough money to just get the heck out of Florida Hell.
The median income in that county is $92,000???? Holy Hathor - why does ANYBODY with that kind of income, regardless of how old they are, need aid from the state to get shatter proof windows?
Just pay for it yourself... You're making $80k+. Buy shutters yourself and do it yourself if you want to save money. Why should taxpayers pay to do something to YOUR home?
Gee, because we pay taxes, also. Seriously? As a homeowner who makes far more than $80K per year, I happily took the $10K check for my $40K windows. Thanks for helping me pay for them but this program is open to you, also. Your jealousy is showing!
Yes Im sure with a hundred percent raise in auto insurance a hundred percent raise in mortage insurance , a hundred percent raise in taxes . Want me to keep going gas ,power milk ,school , daycare , PEOPLE ARE HURTING RIGHT NOW .. everyone in Fl. Pays taxes .
@@jmcc5168yes everyone is hurting..however those most vulnerable that have no way to pay for these things should be taken care of as they simply don't have the means to do so. She is fortunate to have the means to pay for these items and if there's anything left over at the end she will be able to recoup some of her money. The reporter didn't even list her income which makes me believe she's well above the median income threshold.
I bought new windows for my 3k sq ft home. For 22 impact rated windows, it was about $40K. You seriously believe most people have all that cash to do a home repair?
@@TampaBoyI'm in N. FL, and have never had a window break for any reason in35 years here. So when I replace my windows, I'll not be getting "hurricane resistent" overpriced windows. And I'm retired and probably will just pay for them myself.
This government program is totally a disaster. I applied on July 1st as it opened. The application for my elderly parents home fell under level 3, which was the window July 31st to Aug 15th. Soon after the status changed to Inspection closed. I tried calling and emailing for the past 2 months with no response. During this time I had contracted and started the order of the impact windows. I was informed that 11 days later after the application opened the funding was completely exhausted. Why would the government open a grant that would be exhausted 11 days later? Now I am faced with having to pay the doors $8K and not get reimbursed. The rule is if you start work you don't get reimbursed.
Any home built within the past thirty years in a state prone to hurricanes, flooding, and lightning strikes deemed unsafe by insurance companies is a shame
No sympathy. She earns enough. She can afford it. Many, many other people can’t afford it. Her and her father are asking for help that she doesn’t need.
Exactly what happened to me last year got approved . Had the State approved inspector come out and approved the upgrades. Summited to the State then the funding ran out . This year everyone gets in front of me that are newly applying .
It is because most low income or elderly are in mobile homes and the program doesn't help them 😂 Talk about not helping the actual lowest income people who would need it.

Seriously blatantly asking for funding that you can afford . Stop and think . There's people who really need this help .
Seriously.

This guy is selfish. He needs public humiliation. He has no pride or gratitude. The ear ring kind of tells you how to read him.
If the daughter is making $80k+, she can also just buy the windows

@@commonsense6967 well it’s a requirement now from the state of Florida… not an option
Oh well. The poor need the help much more than those who have money to buy. Get a loan.
But…but my baby girl needs it as much as the poor and elderly with no resources! This guy is an entitled tool.
Am I understanding correctly that she's making over 80k hence she can't be first in line?
And she's upset?
Uh. Wow. But that crap yourself sister.
They said last year on stick built homes got help. Low income people aee in mobiles/manufactured. Vulnerable elders in mobile homes need it most.

Only if the most vulnerable are natives who paid into taxes theur entire life otherwise we do not care. You have shelter don't you?
I used this program and is a long process but I got my rebate. Thank you Ron!
I also got emails. So I sold wy wife. A tip
And why is this guy crying on behalf of his full grown adult daughter?

Sounds like you're making a decent salary then.
The whole program was a waste of tax payers money. No one should get a dime.
I got my $10K. Thanks for the help!
