He needs his own fishing show,it’s just like being there with him,he’s a natural presenter. He still has that school boy enthusiasm and it comes across.
Thank you Graeme. The effort you put in to film and fish for us is certainly appreciated. You do a fantastic job. Look forward to the next one. If you are ever over Essex way you are more than welcome to join me on my club waters
What a surprise for a Friday night Graeme, nice haul of pike as well , thanks for taking the Leach's of that pike and not putting them back in the water , great stuff as usual thanks for sharing 😊
When walking with a rod, always walk with the rod facing behind you or its a recipe for disaster as I found out to my cost when I broke the top of my favourite Hardy Farnborough trout rod a few years ago!
Another great video Graeme. I'm going to say something controversial here and it's nothing against the owner as he seems like a nice chap, but I hate the idea of fishing clubs and syndicates. As a kid I used to roam the river lea in my area and me and a few mates learnt how to fish that way. In the last 30 years a lot of it has slowly been taken over by clubs and the rivers we grew up fishing and learning how to fish now cost £120 a year to join a club to fish, half that for juniors. If I wanted to take my 6 year old son river fishing to see if he liked it, it would cost us £210 to join and me get a license, then the cost of his tackle, bait and all of a sudden it's super expensive. Syndicates are just the adult version of that. I noticed the owner didn't say a price and that's if you make it past the vetting process. I bet it's close to £1000 a year. Good on him if he can get people to pay that and it is his baby he's built up so he is within his rights to charge what he wants and choose who fishes there, but I bet in the future there will be very little cheap fishing left, kids won't bother learning because it's too expensive, adults will give up for the same reasons and won't want to teach their kids and angling will go on the decline. Luckily near me there's still a few reasonably priced commercials that I can afford to take my son's to, but even that still costs me £28 for them to have a rod each and me two, that's before bait, petrol, any gear etc.
I know its easy to think even beach fishing is cheap. But half a pound of Ragworm, say £9-50 ,then if you live 50 miles from the sea,as I do,you can dump another £20 or so in fuel travelling ,plus a few rigs and say 4 leads ,a nice £5- parking fee and you are on the way to £40-..One person, and its free at present to shore fish in the UK. Boat fishing if you have your own boat is loads more with cans of fuel, and of course towing means the car will suck up more fuel. Up to £29 launch fee at some places,a packet of squid, some mackerel baits and its even worse. So I wouldn't say you are controversial at all. I always wonder why a club would charge a "joining fee " ?? Surely that is going to put new members off straight away. Oh,and I forgot the rod licences !!
Great video. I always learn something new from you and your vast experience. Can I ask a question though as a novice? Do you always put back pike?I was told that they devastate smaller species
All Pike get returned as a general rule in the UK..they eat other small fish but I don't believe they devastate them. They just eat what they need and then might not take anything else for days. Everything has a balance in nature, its only human interference that messes things up . Think of it like Lions and Wildebeest in Africa. Thousands of Wildebeest in a herd. The lion kills one to eat and that's it. They don't go off killing loads of Wildebeest one after the other. They are just surviving, probably for a few days before they go off hunting again. Hence they are not "devastating" the Wildebeest herd. that's my interpretation anyway.Hope it helps.
Syndicated lakes? I get a chuckle out of that bc sounds like their run by Mafia guys or something. Haha. You've probably answered this for me before Graeme but I can't remember, anyhow, syndicated, is that a fancy way or a UK way of calling them "paylakes"? I mean you do or whoever wants to fish any of those kinds of lakes over there have to pay somebody to fish them, right? I don't know, that's why I'm asking the man who do know! Lol! . I couldn't fish over there anywhere cause my luck I'd be doing something wrong or illegally. Hmmm 🤔, well the words out now about that lake, so in a few years it'll be fished to death, so you better catch them when you can there.
A syndicate lake is like a small private club - you apply to the owner, then pay a sum of money for a year’s fishing usually, this can be anything up to 1-2 thousand pounds in some cases but ordinarily around 5-6 hundred pounds a year. There will be strict rules to protect the fish stocks, the fishing will be catch and release only and the club or syndicate will be a limited number of people to make sure the lake is never too busy so all members have opportunity to fish when they like( a lot of carp fishermen in the uk fish for a few days and nights at a time and sleep at the lake)
The environment agency is supposed monitor water quality 🤔 so how come Water companies have been pumping sewage into rivers and the EA have been letting them do it for years 🙈🙉🙊. If water companies have been allowed to get away with pollution 🤔have other business been discharging waste into rivers. Companies pay the E A to abstract water and discharge water into the river system 🤔makes me wonder if private companies are monitored with the same lack of vigilance as the Water companies . Water companies now saying the cost of public water bills will have to rise to pay for new water treatment systems .🤨the money shareholders have creamed in from polluting rivers and seas should have been spent maintaining the water treatment systems. 🤨 🤨
I mean rivers , keep pumping excrement in , it upsets me greatly , bastards , sorry but it should be sorted out , not that I swim in them , but like a nice clear trot !
I've been waiting for some videos to build up. Look forward to catching up. Best fishing channel on TH-cam 👍🏻

We need to protect Graham at all cost. He's a national treasure.

Len seems like a great owner. Passion of his lakes, likes to keep them as natural as possible, and just wants people to enjoy them.
I think you’ve found a gem there Graeme. Love to see you go back there later in the season 🎣🐟
What a surprise for a Friday night Graeme, nice haul of pike as well , thanks for taking the Leach's of that pike and not putting them back in the water , great stuff as usual thanks for sharing 😊

Graeme is the grandad of this generations young anglers surely 😂
I'm surprised I didn't see you Graeme-I regularly walk the other side of the Blackwater around the nature reserve!
I have never been pike fishing myself as a adult
Only ever seen 2 court in person both my Dad both on Basingstoke Canal near Hook in the 80s
Great vid as usual 👌
Can't find this place on the internet for fishing, all I can find is jet skis and powerboats? Any details on how to fish here?
It says in the "Show More" at top of video..Russell Powerboats.Hampshire.

I’d love to fish Redmire 30 years ago , but tell you the truth I won’t buy a rod and line licence because of the state of it all
Redmire pool 60 years ago would do for me...but to be fair there were probably other good lakes and ponds full of good fish back then.
