In the Third Age of Middle-earth, the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins was unexpectedly swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo found himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. In this harrowing journey Bilbo and his Company of Dwarves came upon a troll lair in Rhûdaur. There they found two Elven swords, Glamdring, and Orcrist, and a knife. Bilbo claimed the knife for himself, and it was more of a sword to someone of his stature. He wielded the sword through most of the quest, famously using it against the Giant Spiders of Mirkwood to save the Company of Dwarves. After Bilbo had slain his first spider he declared, "I will give you a name, and I shall call you Sting." This authentically detailed replica is a reproduction of the actual filming prop. The Sting sword is 22 ½" overall, featuring a 15 3/8" stainless steel blade and, solid metal hilt parts, and an intricately detailed vine adorning the grip. It is presented with a wood wall display featuring graphic motifs from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and includes a certificate of authenticity.

I got the swooord as of today (9/25/13). I love it... it's a very detailed sword. Extremely light also. Very good for someone of my age. :D
I don't need it... I don't need it... I don't need it...
I NEED IT!!!!!!
I'm getting this for my birthday + the scabbard :D
"Erber?" "Smog?" C'mon man.
I was just about to type it.
He is not supposed to know what it is he is just selling it and reading information of of wikipedia xD
Jake Arama true but if he’s going to talk about the movie a lot then he’s gotta get the names right lol 😂
Bilbo didn't claim the sword for himself he was told to take it by gandalf
Erebor (AIR-AH-BORE)
Cool sword--it reminds me of Link's sword from The Legend of Zelda
Awesome!!!
Did anybody try doing sword fights with this?
Can the replicas of Sting withstand the stress of battle? It is strong enough to be in a real fight?
These are display pieces, not battle ready
Is the blade made out of metal
LPyourplay yes.. he said stainless steel
Sharp?
I see that on the guard there appears to be bubbles or little holes, is that intentional or some kind of flaw?
I remember a few years back when I was in a Goodwill checking out a LOTR Sting in their auction cabinet,
It also had little holes in the guard and the blade was loose (as was the guard) and it rattled around in the handle
when you shook it,
not really a full tang knife and it had no edge whatsoever to it:
but like he mentioned here the United Cutlery Sting is a display wall hanger
and not a knife you would ever actually use.
Rockmonix It's part of the design, these replicas are cast/built directly from the movie props. So each details from the prop is displayed on these items as well.
BudKCatalog Hmmm, Well maybe they CGI'd the holes out of the props during the film, although I wasn't really looking that closely at Sting during the Hobbit movies, If you blow up the frame right at 1:46 you can also see some pin prick sized holes in the handle and on the pommel as well.
cha5 it might be a overlooked flaw form casting
In UJ when bilbo digs through his chest you can see the chips and dents on it as well as the scabbard but it was also covered with dirt
I'm thinking about getting a United Cutlery lotr or hobbit sword, what would you recommend
If you want the "worn" look, get the hobbit version, it has the little holes on parts of it. (It has no elven script on it either, if you want that look). The lotr version is more immaculate looking, and also has the script etched in. I'ts a personal preference :) I have the lotr "museum collection" including the wooden display box and certificate of authenticity (very rare)
If u want the purist form do hobbit
I personally think that 22 inches is too long to be a "short sword" for a hobbit they were roughly 3 feet 5 inches tall and to have a twenty two inch blade is more like a claymore than a short sword and have you ever heard of a 22" long dagger it should be around 15" inches just saying
I'm 13 with the perfect amount of money
i ment 0:27
hi that is the sword i want
Please pronounce words right...
-_-
Is this Full Tang?
id say yes if its good quality you need a full tang in the sword for the pommel and guard
It's listed as being a half tang weapon. :-P
am i the only one who was really annoyed with the way he said erebor he said erbor
i got a gold sting and it was 20 dollars
and with a sheath
Me too!
Where did you get it ?
the Lord of the rings version looks way better
on 0:30 he says bilblo
yes it is bilbo but what he said is spelled like this B.I.L.B.LO
i really want this but i can't afford it D:
Just a tip....there is another sting sword made by *sovereign swords* or something like that. Its way cheaper. 👍
They really need to get someone to do these reviews that knows what they're talking about in terms of the movies. He pronounces everything from the movie wrong. It just goes to show me that he knows nothing about anything. I love you BUDK but, come on..
The hand guard has no details like the Lord of the rings trilogy version has.
What's up with that?
It's just flat metal.
I've heard a lot of people say that the reason the two are so different is because Bilbo had changes made to Sting after he gave it it's name and was able to wield it as a sword rather than a dagger. It may not be because of that or I have misunderstood your question.
That sheath is pathetic
It bothers me that the sword used in The Hobbit is different from The Lord of the Rings, they are supposed to be the same
Bilbo had the design in LOTR engraved in the blade after his journey.
It bothers me that people are bothered by films following the lore.
ebrr
Lol its so funny that you cant say erabor! learn to speak!
And you play minecraft, what is worse?
your face
+Dread D oh bc you have seen it. nice insult. couldn't expect more from an 11 year old
