The only way to have a metal glowing is if it is really really hot or if it is radioactive. I don't suppose one would want either.
nitarsh Yes. But there has to be some other way. Maybe a shatter resistant ceramic material with some cobalt in it of something else?
Tritium might work, it's radioactive but not dangerously so, used in night iron sights
How do we coax the tritium to glow blue? Can it be incorporated in the steel itself? What about glow in the dark materials? Are there any metallic versions of these?
***** I don't believe you could make it glow blue. As for incorporating it into the metal
, I'm an idiot and forgot that tritium, like hydrogen, is a gas

I LOVE IT!
You did an amazing job on Sting and it was great seeing all of your creations! Thanks!!!
This was a meeting we all did not see coming but, a great one all in all.
Indeed. You both rock!

911 dislikes
pandas in the world
There should be more dislikes. They imparted nothing special into Sting. Anybody with a plasma cutter and some skill at grinding could have done what they did. It's boring and yes that is likely how WETA made the sword but they are making many swords for a movie. This joker is making it as a show piece. He could have put some more love in it.
More of a letter opener, really
Please Google Search a letter opener before commenting
That was a reference to the movie :)
You could also consider it a glorified dagger, fits the ballpark of length about right.
wow 2 people didn't get that refrence.
+Palang Leonhardt you clearly didnt watch the movie smartass
"To me it's a really big knife."
So...quite literally perfectly accurate to the book then, and good on you?
well if you can make sting glow blue, you can make a light saber. Make it happen AWE me
prince of percia dagger of time
and sword of the game
You mean Persia
srry i am not englis
happytime Don't need to know english to spell Persia right
thx
Randall Skeffington Haha okay so spell persia correctly right now in japanese. Obviously you need to know how to spell in english to spell Persia... In English.
Omg i wanted this for such a long time! Thank you so much! Really appriciate you coming back! Also, suggestion: wheel of time perin's hammer
Who the fuck dislikes this?
Haters and people who disliked the video.
Filip Ekelund Goblins?
+BAN1102 Orcs not goblins. Then again there's the elves......
Wong Lu Yan The blade would start to glow when there was goblins or orcs nearby. The name Sting was given to it by Bilbo when it has stung a lot of spiders in Mirkwood.
+Wong Lu Yan In LOTR Orcs and Goblins are the same thing, I believe.
Dante Rebellion
My two favorite youtube channels IN THE SAME VIDEO?
My life is complete.
I must say your work is exquisite....Beautiful craftsmanship!
That blue color on the blade looks incredible!
Man, you guys are engineers, artists and just craftsmen of the highest order.
Dante's Sword Rebellion, from Devil May Cry.
Yes, pls
that would be awesome
but the one from devil may cry 3... it is cooler than the others. (although i prefer the alastor sword from devil may cry 1 but whatever)
cactilio11 It's all about the classics, Bruh, though no argument from me. Everyone has a preference.
Weiss' Rapier from RWBY? Since it has a revolving chamber in the guard it might be a challenging build for you.
This would be 100% awesome. I
YES!
Warglaives of Azzinoth maybe?
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU
+Durri01 Aye that or Thunderfury
+Durri01 100% agreeing on the Warglaives
+Durri01 YESSSS!
+Durri01 YESSSS!
After 1:00 I sort of expected something more of the sword than just having a blue temper. I'd even be pleased if they poured the contents of a blue glow stick on the sword.
Red Queen from DMC4, for the umpteenth time.
Elucidator and Dark Repulser from SAO, Kirito's a dual wielder so it'd be cooler if you made both
The way it slices smoothly....
How about Godric Gryffindoor's sword?
HylianLegacy4245 I agree, you guys should do the Sword of Gryffindor
Yes that be amazing
well, youre in luck, they already made it
It's been done
Philip Tucker these comments were made before they made that video
Make Aragorn's sword Andruil!
Be cool if they also made Zar'roc
Yes! Dragon represent!
Eragon. Spell check...
Rifleman gaming No, he means the guy from Lord of the Rings, a completely different series from the Inheritance Cycle.
No. I am replying to the guy who said zar'roc
Kirito's Elucidator
I like the irony in the sword choice at the end of the video
I'd love to see you guys do your own design of swords show what you like and look for in a blade
I would really love to see frostmourne from warcraft.
squall's gunblade from final fantasy VIII
Just brilliant and fantastic pieces of blacksmithing.
Love the idea of having one side blue and the other silver, would buy that in a heartbeat!
Sauron's Mace! (Sized down, Of course)
Nay! FULL SIZED!
Ha ha ha, That'd be cool. But I think it'd take up more room than the buster sword if it full size gotta recall how big Sauron is.
Anduril. Aragorn's Sword from The Return of the King.
Amazing work Tony!
Just shared this with a friend today
Love artists doing great work like that it gives me the hitch to start my own own forge
The Classic Infinity Blade from Infinity Blade 1 and 2!
Spartan Set: Shield, helmet, Spear and Blade
I miss this guy
Cojo1225 Me too, Tony was so cool
when he putts the hot sword in the water it sounds like a lightsaber
I really wish he would do a vid on explaining the blacksmith terminology and how things work such as doing that blue tempering
Sephiroth's Masamune!
I freaking LOVE this series. Keep it up.
That bit at the end lol. Very scripted dialogue.
the elucidator from sword art online
The Elucidator is the perfect choice
Both of Kirito's swords would be cool too
Since you made this sword "glow" I was wondering if you could make Riptide from Percy Jackson And The Olympians.
Ehh I didnt really like the movie version, in the books it's supposed to be a short lead shaped sword with poseidon's trident symbol near the hilt
Yeahh the sword was suppose to give off a golden blow when light shone on it. Similar to the sword in the video.
The movie version is also quite off from the original book design. The sword doesn’t have a trident on it.
Make it book accurate and it would be great.
Amazing
Frostmourn hungers! Warglaives can wait, we need the lich king's sword already.
Other frequent requests:
-Some variant of the God of War chainswords
-Daedric sword from Skyrim (lower priority since you already did the axe)
Needle from Game of Thrones
This guy does more cutting/grinding than he does forging... So glad BKS is doing this show now.
6:42 I like how Azog's left arm is cut off here, just like Thorin did it in the movie.
Dishonored Corvo folding blade.
I second this, we need Corvo's blade!
Or Dauds assassins blade from the same game.
You know why, because I eager to see the mechanism based projects which I really liked on AC hidden blade
The Rebelion from DMC!!!!
Not a big fan of the handle but still amazing work!
I agree, the color is much to light compared to the hilt of sting in the movies, still a beautiful blade
the blue on the sword came out really well.
Sword art online , dark repulser and elucidator (kirito swords)
Very impressive! Sting is a beautiful little weapon for a Hobbit! Very well done! And it's very sharp! Keep making more weapons from many stories!
hats how a blacksmith sharpens a pencil xDDD
Niemand Jemand What he actually MEANS is "that's how a hack propmaker sharpens a pencil", but that wouldn't have sounded as cool.
+MoonEyes2k I'm really curious why you wouldn't classify him as a blacksmith?
Ethan Moore How about because he doesn't actually forge anything? He's a mechanic, at best.
no
Ethan Moore because a blacksmith would have forged the blade not cut it out of plate steel and been proud of his work. Thousands of bladesmiths around the country do that kind of work. It doesn't mean what they do is wrong, but it doesn't make their work special. For a show piece that is all it will ever be a show piece you want it to be special. So a plate steel blade and a sticky tape aluminum duct tape foil inlay is lazy as crap. He should be standing there at the end ashamed of his work not proud of it.
That blue side is awesome
NARSIL FROM LORD OF THE RINGS!
Kill La Kill Scissor Blade
Indeed. SCISSOR BLADE!!
YES, plz
Yes to the scissor blade please!
hoogomoogo ya do this
omfg yes, just yes.
And I would want to see BOTH of the scissor blades!
You guys are amazing.
It would be about dagger size for a human, for a troll it's little more than a pocket knife and for a hobbit it serves as a short sword
"for a hobbit it's a sword, but for me it's a big knife"
haha I love the hobbit reference
Kirito's Elucidator and/or Dark Repulser!!!!
Professional is professional...
It is wonderful appreciate this kind of work...
Make Orcrist, Throin's Sword or Balin's Mace or Legolas's Daggers or Gloin/Gimli's other Axe. I would really appreciate any significant Hobbit or Lord of the Rings Weapons.
The Hacksmith made Gimli's battle axe. You should check him out, if you haven't. I love his projects, especially the captain america shields
Something tells me he didn't make the Buster Sword to last.
Masamune - sephiroth sword
I want to see this but I want to see it made in more of a traditional way.
More specifically, how they forge out a straight blade and then putting clay on the base and spine of the blade then heat strengthening the exposed blade edge.
I've been told that tempering it this way cause a forged straight blade to bend.
THIS IS AWESOME
I need that swords so beautiful
If only half of it is blue, does that mean a half-orc is near?
Sephiroth's Masamune :)
I just noticed this, but if you were to forge two exact copies of Orcrist and put them spine to spine, it would be a larger version of Sting. All except the dragon tooth hilt. If you go by the movie weapons, then it looks like Sting was made as a companion knife for Orcrist.
That's so AWESOME!!! Great job!
squall's revolver gunblade from final fantasy VIII
I feel like a broken record for saying this, but please do Kirito's elucidator!
I'd like to see both of kiritos swords.
It's so wonderful this sword deign. Congratulations. I appreciate.
These guys are so epic that sharpen the pencils on the ribbon for sharpening weapons
SOUL REAVER !!!!!!!!!! PLS
Predator wristblades or spear :)
Yes

Not. Enough. Likes.
Yes
Technically the "replica" wasn't hobbit sized, but life sized. "Sting" was an Elven Dagger from Gondolin, one of the High Elven Kingdoms in Exile. The Dwarves with Bilbo joked that it was probably a letter opener, but it was a weapon of war, a dagger. Fairly big dagger, but still... so... life-sized. Now, to a HOBBIT, it was a proper sword!
Loved how you made it. Well done.
in the story sting is actually an elvish ceremonial knife, but due to the stature of hobbits, it serves as a sword to them.
Raidens Heavy Frequency Blade from Metal Gear Rising!
A small, but important tool for the hands of a noble, hobbit.the sting got its name from the defeat of a foul, spider.but the elf balde will not be so easily, tarnished by wicked, evil.for the blue glow it holds will always be a beacon, of hope for middle earth..
man, I really love the bright tempers
I am pleased with this video. Except I call my sword, "The Bling."
Froustmourne from WoW and Warcraft III.
I just ordered an exact replica of sting with sheath.. freaking awesome!
The Ten Commandments from Rave Master. An awesome shape shifting great sword!
THAT... Is how you make a salad
I was reading this just after i saw it
I really liked how it turned out. I would've liked it even more if the blue on the blade was a little more faint or faded, To me the blue that it has makes it look a bit plastic-ky. But I'm pretty sure it looks way better in person. Nevertheless, it looks epic.
I want that "I am why we can't have nice things."-Tshirt xD
you do absolutely amazing things.
you are so godd at forging
Quelaag's Furysword from Dark Souls!
Yeah the Greatsword of Artorias. Dark Souls 2 is coming out in March so that would be cool to see.
You know, that would actually make a pretty damn good machete. I have one that is the same length and the shape of the blade is ideal for swinging back and forth to clear brush and limbs.
Sting is most likely a secondary blade for a swordsman. The one you have in your left land if you're a right hander.
both of Kirito's swords from sword art online
