Darksiders 2 was something much bigger 😂. But Im I wish the series stayed as big as D2 was. If it got any bigger, we'd probably have a free2play Darksiders MMO with Microtransactions. We kind of do actually with Wayfinder....

I think they're planning on it. Darksiders 3 and Genesis show what the other horsemen were up to during 1 and 2, so i think darksiders 4 will finally continue the story
@@momatotsosrorudodi Which he actually is. Of the 4, he's the one that constantly questions the council and their missions. Death does whatever he wants while feigning obedience, while War (unless he goes berserk) and Fury just do what needs to be done without much questioning.
Strife still needs his time in the Spotlight with a solo entry. I’d imagine a Gunsgrave, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta style of gunplay… hopefully they complete it.
That or maybe a Vanquish/Lady Devil May Cry combo with some Ultrakill in third person thrown in. Just full style beast with guns that has a dedicated taunt button for enemies.

Played all three and yeah, we need at least two more games. One to help flush out Strife and the last one where the developers can do what they want: Either Single player but you can switch between Horsemen, or Coop with friends with the idea of replayability to see how each of the horseman work together.

Darksiders 1: Great game Darksiders 3: Great game Darksiders 2: Actual timeless masterpiece Seriously, Darksiders 2 is one of the best games ever made in every single aspect, and it just flew under the radar like that. Didn't exactly tank, but didn't save THQ from bankruptcy either. Such a sad state of gaming. The music, the lore, the scenery, the voice acting, the art style, the combat, the exploration, the incredible puzzles... Darksiders 2 is borderline flawless.
Yeah the soundtracks and Death's voicelines oof and the executions. Tbh though DS1 did all these too, both had such a beautiful narrative kudos to the narrator. The one thing which set ds2 apart was that ds2 felt larger, like I had space to breathe compared to DS1 where all we had was dungeons and broken streets lol
@@vandergrift5557 That's exactly how I feel too. Especially in The Black Throne, DS1's puzzling got too much. There was zero time to breathe. It was repetitive puzzle after repetitive puzzle. In DS2, is you don't want to go dungeon crawling in the main quest, you can just go do a side quest in a beautiful open world. Also, the combat and music of DS2 is better. It's so fucking good.
Ngl if the series gets continued we need 2 games, 1 to show what strife was doing after genesis then a final game of the 4 horseman confronting the council and forming a true balance
I love Darsiders. Its one of those series that took many aspects of other games and mixed them to make fantastic games. As well as taking the generic concept of 'Angels vs Demons/The Apocalypse' and actually made a world that its weirdly unique despite its concepts. I hope they will manage to at least finish this story that we all are really interested in
@@joshima7 oh my god dude don’t get me started on Death’s voice actor. That voice to me is so fucking iconic and one of the best choices these devs ever made on any of these games. And War’s voice is pretty good as well
They should've kept the original horsemen of the apocalypse, I think it would've been awesome to play as pestilence, and I think Death would've benefitted from being the last game protagonist.
“You should not have made them KNEEL!” One of my favorite lines in the third game really paints Fury’s love for her brothers despite her constantly trying to deny it. She respects them even if she feels they don’t respect her, and would not have their honor sullied but such a poor illusion.

Darksiders Genesis is REALLY good! Obviously not a mainline game, but it was directed by Joe Mad and the crew over at Airship Syndicate, so it's more authentic imo than DS3. Worth checking out and playing through with a buddy; it's a blast!
I really fucking wish genesis had a higher budget, it is genuinely a really good game but all the bugs, messier art style than the main games, and the lack of combos for both War and Strife make me unable to recommend it as much as i want to.
Genesis is actually my favourite of the series, it might not have quite as much to explore as the others but its amazing. Personal ranking is: Genesis, 2, 1 and then we don't talk about 3.
From Genisis basically what you can pick up is that Strife used to be a bounty hunter/hired gun/mercenary, and that alot of his jobs were done without regard to if the target was innocent. He is still dealing with all that guilt which really affects him any time he sees something that reminds him of those days. His name is also pretty symbolic just like the others as even though he still has so much strife inside him that he cant deal with, he makes it his main goal to keep a light and funny atmosphere to help his allies take a load off and forget their own trauma. Would absolutely love to see him in his own game and the growth that would come from it.

Darksiders truly is a underrated series. The fact it still lives,in a way, gives me hope that one day, we’ll see the grand finale. Amazing video. 😊😊😊 Also that ending, that is also equally amazing. How you edited it all together got me a bit emotional, in a good way.
The Crowfather, The Guardian, Corrupted Archon, The Tree of Life, Trouble in Eden, The Crystal Spire, Tri-Stone, The Makers Overworld, The Makers Fight Back, The Lost Temple Guardians, Plains of Death, Into Eternity, Corruption, The Abyssal Plains, Supernatural Desert, The Floating City, Story of The Makers, Death Brings Hope, and The Ivory Citadel, those are all among the best soundtracks in gaming. This game is the only game I know where I there's not a single bad soundtrack. Even the ones I like less than some others like Makers in The Outlands or Lord of The Black Stone, they are still top notch.
The ending of Darksiders 1 and the part where Death finishes off the Archon in Darksiders 2 are some of the most epic moments I've seen in over 30 years of gaming. I really hope the developers can make a better entry for Strife than what we've got for Fury.
Awsome recap of the trilogy. The earth segment of Ds2 was suppose to be more of a horror theme, and make u afraid of the undead flood, but it still felt short after the dead lands. Also dont sleep on Ds3's soundtrack, the violin song at the end scene is pure awe. Genesys takes place before the main story of the 3, and deals alot with lucifer and his main schemes, as well as samael's place in the lore. Strife is the more humane horseman, like u see in 3. Keep up the great work !!!
Played all the Darksiders games including Genesis and I have to say each game is a treat to play and reminds me of why I got into gaming in the first place These games are never the most original games but they aren't trying to be one and wear their inspiration on their sleeves. Also loved your summary of the story especially fury catching redditors
I love so mucho this series, it felt so awesome to have such powerful characters yet you see them not feeling that much and always growing not as the Horsemen of the Apocalypse but as individuals. Plus Death's voice and portrayal is so good
I love Darksiders. It might sound weird but for me, this series acts like a worthy substitute to the absence of the LoK series... great story and world building, similar gameplay and fantastic voice acting (even Kain's voice, Simon Templeman is in).
Darksiders 2 is one of my favorites soundtracks of all time. Jesper Kyd (Hitman, Assassins Creed, Batman and Robin for sega Genesis, killed it. Such a varied, wondrous and awe inspiring soundtrack. Truly ethereal.
death is hands down the best horseman imo. his final monologue standing in front of the well of souls when says he has no idea what to do next is just crazy. the fact that he is death yet fights to save life, and also the fact that he defeated and killed a fking concept is crazy. darksiders 2 will always be my favourite in the series.

Darksiders 2 hits so hard with its music, it's been my favorite game of all time regardless of how "meh" it is. Or how much people see it as a DLC. Death to me is the most interesting and badass charcter.

Death is my favorite horsemen. The player always knew he was powerful but after learning Death wasn't at his full power during the events of ds2 made him even more of a badass.
I have huge nostalgic love for these games, and you covered both the good and bad about them perfectly. I think they'll always be in this weird space of looking for their own identity that'll never happen, but that doesn't mean I wont respect what they tried to do. Excellent video man!

Darksiders 2 was the first ever game i got on my xbox 360. It's special to me because i only used to play ps1 and n64. I was literally in awe when I saw this skeleton guy riding a firey blue horse on screen with snow everywhere
Fucking love the Dark Siders series. It one of the best examples of early 2000s edge/asthetics but with great writing and character work. (minus 3 for like 90% of it.) I was worried my childhood/teenage nostalgia was going to break apart when I played these games again many years later. Thank god it didn't in the story as well as Gameplay. (again minus 3.)
Absolutely amazing video, Darksiders is such a great franchise and out if all games I’ve played the ones I love the most they’re all great in my opinion (yes even 3). I think Darksiders 4 is in development although I could be wrong, I remember seeing something a while ago about it.
I think the last thing that was officially reported on for D4 was just that someone made concept art for one of the games and just uploaded it to artstation last year. It's pretty cool looking but nothing solid. Didn't stop gaming journalists from baiting out the headlines with "Darksiders 4 confirmed??????????????????" lol

Darksiders 2 will always be one of my favourite games EVER! Death is such hell of a protagonist. From design, to animations, his persona, voice... My gosh, his voice. During my many playthroughs I've always had a situation where I just spammed horse summoning button just to hear "I have to go alone..." or "This is no place for a horse..." I have very similiar vibes when I'm watching SPAWN series or play Mortal Kombat 11 with SPAWN and hear Keith David. SO DAMN GOOD!! ❤ To me - Death just had it all. That video made me replay DS2. @djjaxter absolutely mate, that's also the benefit of spending more time on something, you can adjust and go over it. It shows dedication and a desire to deliver a better more genuine product. Writing is not my strong suit either, I'm planning to correct that over time. You certainly have strength in jokes though, keep at it mate.
I'm really in love with the Darksiders series. I know people Yahtzee Croshaw were ripping it for being "derivative" but I honestly don't see anything wrong with taking inspiration as long you have your own soul/identity. It wears its inspirations on its sleeves but it's definitely its own thing. I use to blame the negative reception but I honestly think it had more to do with guys like Joe Mad leaving the driver's seat. Without him maintaining "the vision" sorta fell apart without a center. I do really want them to finish though. Even if the game turns out to be glitched and flawed I wouldn't mind having closure to the ending. Also it'd be cool to see Lucifer in his glory.
I remember as a kid in early 2010's it was one of my favorite game series. particularly Darksiders 2. It was a very big improvement over the first game. despite some drawbacks. One of the best games of 2012, without any doubt, especially considering what came out that year - Mass Effect 3, Dishonored, Far Cry 3, The Witcher 2, Assassin's Creed 3, Tourchlight 2, Forza Horizon, Bourderlands 2, Prototype 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles - all of these awesome games, still loved over a decade later. Darksiders 2 was awesome in many aspects - interesting storyline, awesome world, satisfying gameplay, neat powers divided into two skill trees and cool bosses. However, the series as a whole are what you can call a unrealised potential. While second game is really good, the others are "not enough" in manya aspects. I mean the first and third game, as they in my opinion fall short in comparison with Darksiders 2. On the other hand, Darksiders Genesis is a really awesome, Diablo type game that i enjoyed very much. Hopefully it's success will push the series forward, it's been quite a few years after all.
Goddamn dude. I haven’t thought about this series in years. It used to be everything I lived and breathed for a time, thank you for this wonderful video, the end montage brought me to tears. Its been tough, slowly watching all the different series that used to fill me with such excitement and joy slowly wither and fade away to nothingness due to neglect, I’ve become so apathetic as a result and it’s so sad. Halo, Destiny, Gears, and Darksiders, as well as others. I can only hope that one day, we’re all truly blessed by the continuation and conclusion to such a beautiful franchise. I’ll always believe that these games were true iconic treasures.
I loved Darksiders when it came out. I adored Darksiders 2 when it came out. I question the sanity of using Souls game mechanics in Darksiders 3. I regained new hope when I played Darksiders Genesis. And with that hope, perhaps one day I will be able to play Darksiders 4 and this grand tale can finally come to a close.
Man that outro almost made me tear up, the "Not alone.." always gets me in the feels ever since I played DS1 on release. Also go play Genesis man, it's fricken awesome and seeing the camraderie between two of the horsemen as they actively work together relaly solidifies their bond and why War has such faith in them, and why Death was willing to die to prove his brother's innocence. And to top that it also has a banger ass soundtrack.

Yo the ending scene of DS 1 was goated. I love DS 1 and 2 so much(3 as you said really is just ok). Only thing i kinda not am 100% on board is changing half of the horseman from the biblical ones, i feel like using the OG horseman as protagonists would be cooler

@@DerM0H Considering how much of the existing characters' personalities are dictated by their names, I can still see why they changed it. I would have swore I heard somewhere that in the lore the original four were straight from the Bible, but two of them died, quit, or rebelled against the Council or something and the two renames were the replacements chosen by the Council. I don't remember if that was from some expanded media somewhere or just a fan theory though.
Darksiders is a spiritual successor to Legacy of Kain (for me, anyway). Both are an iconic, epic, dark, story-driven game series with unique and interesting characters, worlds, and plot. ...And both left us blue-balling for more games with very little chance they will ever come.
Own DS & DS2 on PS3. DS, DS2, & DS3, and DS:G on PS4. DS & DS2 on Switch. I own 3 copies of FF7. Sadly........ 3 copies of Skyrim.... Bethesda got me... No excuses
I love the franchise but they seems to refuse to move the story onward. I do hope they do one day. The third despite his flaws is my favorite because of it's Metroidvania inspiration, I feel the game was too short but still enjoyed it a lot. It feels weaker I think in part because the Director behind Darksiders 1 & 2 barely did any work on the 3 (just some sketch design on Fury), Joe Madureira, an amazing artist.
DS2 has a special place in my heart, not just cuz of the story, the music and the exploration, it was also my brother's gateway to gaming. He backseated me from start to finish. He managed to finish it as well afterwards without any prior gaming experience to speak off, simply cuz he fell in love with the Darksiders universe. We finished Genesis not long ago too, its a solid entry in the series :)
I feel like Strife would have been the perfect rep for Humanity and what it means to be human in his game; I do believe all three games explain that he is the most sympathetic to humanity.. Also, for this theory, it was actually a great choice for you to use Guts' Theme for said-character.

DS Genesis is an AMAZING game, overlooked even by fans of the franchise only because of where the camera is, saying Strife needs his own real game, and I'm like "whaaat!?" that IS his real own game, I mean, yes, War is in it too but we are always told how close the horsemen are to one another, even calling themselves brothers and sister, and we finally got a game with 2 of them together interacting with each other and both playable (even in co-op), with a really fun and interesting gameplay that completely feels like a Darksiders game (even War feels so much like in his first game). We get to know about Strife and why he is the way he is, and more about the overall lore, why Strife helps humanity in DS3 is so tied down with what happens in Genesis, how much the horsemen are hurt about the Nephilim with my favorite battle in all the franchise in Eden, with the corpses of their kind still there, and so much more. DS Genesis deserves way more credit, it's a really great game created by a little indie studio with no more and no less than the mastermind of DS itself (Joe Madureira)

I haven't played Darksiders 1 & 2 in a little over a decade and it randomly came to mind a while ago. Watching this video brings back insane nostalgia. Still one of the greatest games I've played. Nice video.
Man oh man even today I still play the crap out of these three games, (I haven't picked up genesis yet but that's mostly because I saw a few clips of it and something about it just didn't grab me) some days I'll just be like "You know what lets play Darksiders trilogy in order", which was abit of a problem since 2 and 3 happen roughly at the same time but hey I still did it regardless. I remember the original Darksiders coming into my life in a very dark time when I was contemplating...a sharp end of the blade simply put game showed me sometimes life is going screw you over and you can choose to press on or give up, one thing that I thin deserves a highlight was the Legendary mods you can get late game, they are bloody fantastic and each greatly enhances certain weapons and playstyles, also War being built like a Tank where he can absorb massive amounts of punishment when paired with his Legendary Abyssal armor lets him leech life which I think is a nice touch because then its like seeing him thrive on fight itself. Darksiders 2 I actually don't really remember when I became awear of this title but regardless I am actually not a super big fan of the Weapon RNG in this game I do prefer the weapons of the first and third game since you know okay these are the Legendary Weapons of the horsemen and there's something mystical about that, that said it was fun playing and replaying this game trying out new builds and taking on the crucible and piecing together Deaths abyssal set which unlike on the Original Darksiders Death is limited to replaying the game one time on that file which was a huge let down for me since I'm a "New Game + Enjoyer", if I could mod the Darksiders 2 files in some way where I could start fresh with the Abyssal Set I would be very happy...but sadly I am not quite that motivated. Darksiders 3, now this one I remember got alot of hate for being a Souls like game but tbh? the fact that you don't have a stamina bar makes it so you can if you choose endlessly dodge wait for the proper opening and repeat Personally this title is my favorite, I love that once you initially unlock the Abyssal set from the Void DLC you can start a fresh file and have it unlocked, another solid thing about this game are the rune...mod...sigil things I don't recall their exact name but you can use these to passively charge your health wrath and havoc over time meanwhile you can sit there drinking a cup of coffee, one of my biggest gripes about this title is when Envy (Because if you pay attention to what the watcher monologs on about she makes it really obvious its her), but anyway when Envy emerges and forces fury into a slow walk while they talk about stuff you know from your previous X amount of playthroughs meanwhile I'm here trying to do a challenge run and she's ruining it. Well just wanted to share my two cents on the titles despite being late to the party...I seriously doubt this will ever be read sooooo...This is no place for a review...(couldn't resist). Looking forward for Darksiders 4 in the year 2030 for them to show us what Strife has been up to and we still wont know how the story ends with the Four being rejoined on earth one last time. XD
This is so beautifully written my guy!! I’ve never had anyone else to really talk to about these games so seeing someone else have just as strong words to write about it makes me glad that there’s other people out there who love these games the same amount as I do. I should’ve gone more in depth on weapon customisation on the darksiders 3 part for sure I think I just ended up cutting stuff for time sadly but the enhancements in that game really can just make builds so powerful and I love it
@@djjaxter The funny story is Originally I wasn't going to go that far in depth but before I knew it was typing an essay and was like "Hell when trains rolling may as well blow the whistle", In all seriousness I am pretty sure I could have gone on alot longer than I did but I am fairly sure there is a character limit on youtube comments so I figure worse comes to worse might just make my own video when I get better tech for sound quality. I mean hell I remember while back I started recording what I called a "Boss Rush" for Darksiders 2, where I did either a fresh file or a new game + and just recorded the bosses and played them back to back just for kicks, doesn't have the same effect as an actual legit boss rush that say a Castlevania game has but it was something fun to do that day, and the sad thing is I don't think I ever finished it before life hit me with a ton a bricks and I forgot I was doing that.
When I was writing the script I had a lot of lines I liked a lot but that was definitely somewhere in the top 10. So glad someone other than me liked that dumb little joke :)

I found Darksiders by accident someday and I'm glad I did. Liked the first one, but when I played the second I fell in love with the series. Still need to play 3 and Genesis. Also, gotta love when TH-cam recommends a nice new channel 🙏 incredible video, very funny too
I feel like Darksiders 3 failed to capture what it feels like to be one of the Four Horsemen, combat wise. You are supposed to be a big deal on the battlefield, but Fury just feels like your ordinary angel/demon. I know she uses whips but I would expect them to work like the whip from Prototype games, not a limp wristed bitch slap.
The combat went too far into the whole darksouls shtick where every piece of crap mob is supposed to be a "threat". I much more so enjoy the idea of the threat being the sheer number of mobs but o well.
Iam not a big gamer so i didnt play too many offline games during my days, but darksiders 2 was one of my favorite games of all time, so much that i did 100% more than 3x. It makes me sad to see that nowadays games are all generic and focused on shoving 123.234.901,33 effects on your screen, while games like this could have given us so much more. Great video!
Darksiders is such a cool story setting that the games never quite managed lived up to. They're not bad games by any means, but they're not great either. I still hold hope we could one day get the "Darksiders 4" game we've been building to from the beginning of playing as all four horsemen in one game.

Strife still needs his time in the Spotlight with a solo entry. I’d imagine a Gunsgrave, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta style of gunplay… hopefully they complete it.
I would so love to finally be able to play as strife in his own game, would love to see how developers do hack and slash style combat with guns

That final montage really hit me in the feels. The ending of Darksiders 1 is for me at least the most bad ass and best ending to a game ever.

Played all three and yeah, we need at least two more games. One to help flush out Strife and the last one where the developers can do what they want: Either Single player but you can switch between Horsemen, or Coop with friends with the idea of replayability to see how each of the horseman work together.

Seriously, Darksiders 2 is one of the best games ever made in every single aspect, and it just flew under the radar like that. Didn't exactly tank, but didn't save THQ from bankruptcy either. Such a sad state of gaming. The music, the lore, the scenery, the voice acting, the art style, the combat, the exploration, the incredible puzzles... Darksiders 2 is borderline flawless.
Yeah the soundtracks and Death's voicelines oof and the executions. Tbh though DS1 did all these too, both had such a beautiful narrative kudos to the narrator. The one thing which set ds2 apart was that ds2 felt larger, like I had space to breathe compared to DS1 where all we had was dungeons and broken streets lol
@@vandergrift5557 That's exactly how I feel too. Especially in The Black Throne, DS1's puzzling got too much. There was zero time to breathe. It was repetitive puzzle after repetitive puzzle. In DS2, is you don't want to go dungeon crawling in the main quest, you can just go do a side quest in a beautiful open world.
Also, the combat and music of DS2 is better. It's so fucking good.

I love Darsiders. Its one of those series that took many aspects of other games and mixed them to make fantastic games. As well as taking the generic concept of 'Angels vs Demons/The Apocalypse' and actually made a world that its weirdly unique despite its concepts. I hope they will manage to at least finish this story that we all are really interested in

One of my favorite lines in the third game really paints Fury’s love for her brothers despite her constantly trying to deny it. She respects them even if she feels they don’t respect her, and would not have their honor sullied but such a poor illusion.

Darksiders Genesis is REALLY good! Obviously not a mainline game, but it was directed by Joe Mad and the crew over at Airship Syndicate, so it's more authentic imo than DS3. Worth checking out and playing through with a buddy; it's a blast!

I really fucking wish genesis had a higher budget, it is genuinely a really good game but all the bugs, messier art style than the main games, and the lack of combos for both War and Strife make me unable to recommend it as much as i want to.
Genesis is actually my favourite of the series, it might not have quite as much to explore as the others but its amazing. Personal ranking is: Genesis, 2, 1 and then we don't talk about 3.
From Genisis basically what you can pick up is that Strife used to be a bounty hunter/hired gun/mercenary, and that alot of his jobs were done without regard to if the target was innocent. He is still dealing with all that guilt which really affects him any time he sees something that reminds him of those days. His name is also pretty symbolic just like the others as even though he still has so much strife inside him that he cant deal with, he makes it his main goal to keep a light and funny atmosphere to help his allies take a load off and forget their own trauma.
Would absolutely love to see him in his own game and the growth that would come from it.

The Crowfather, The Guardian, Corrupted Archon, The Tree of Life, Trouble in Eden, The Crystal Spire, Tri-Stone, The Makers Overworld, The Makers Fight Back, The Lost Temple Guardians, Plains of Death, Into Eternity, Corruption, The Abyssal Plains, Supernatural Desert, The Floating City, Story of The Makers, Death Brings Hope, and The Ivory Citadel, those are all among the best soundtracks in gaming. This game is the only game I know where I there's not a single bad soundtrack. Even the ones I like less than some others like Makers in The Outlands or Lord of The Black Stone, they are still top notch.

The ending of Darksiders 1 and the part where Death finishes off the Archon in Darksiders 2 are some of the most epic moments I've seen in over 30 years of gaming. I really hope the developers can make a better entry for Strife than what we've got for Fury.

The earth segment of Ds2 was suppose to be more of a horror theme, and make u afraid of the undead flood, but it still felt short after the dead lands.
Also dont sleep on Ds3's soundtrack, the violin song at the end scene is pure awe.
Genesys takes place before the main story of the 3, and deals alot with lucifer and his main schemes, as well as samael's place in the lore. Strife is the more humane horseman, like u see in 3.

Played all the Darksiders games including Genesis and I have to say each game is a treat to play and reminds me of why I got into gaming in the first place

I love Darksiders. It might sound weird but for me, this series acts like a worthy substitute to the absence of the LoK series... great story and world building, similar gameplay and fantastic voice acting (even Kain's voice, Simon Templeman is in).
Genesis was a real callback in both narrative and gameplay.
I'm glad that they brought executions back unlike DS3
Darksiders 2 is one of my favorites soundtracks of all time. Jesper Kyd (Hitman, Assassins Creed, Batman and Robin for sega Genesis, killed it. Such a varied, wondrous and awe inspiring soundtrack. Truly ethereal.
death is hands down the best horseman imo. his final monologue standing in front of the well of souls when says he has no idea what to do next is just crazy. the fact that he is death yet fights to save life, and also the fact that he defeated and killed a fking concept is crazy. darksiders 2 will always be my favourite in the series.

Darksiders 2 hits so hard with its music, it's been my favorite game of all time regardless of how "meh" it is. Or how much people see it as a DLC. Death to me is the most interesting and badass charcter.

Death is my favorite horsemen. The player always knew he was powerful but after learning Death wasn't at his full power during the events of ds2 made him even more of a badass.
I have huge nostalgic love for these games, and you covered both the good and bad about them perfectly. I think they'll always be in this weird space of looking for their own identity that'll never happen, but that doesn't mean I wont respect what they tried to do. Excellent video man!

The constant combination of genres in these games I think is one of their huge strengths and what stops them from being just another 2010's ps3 type game

Darksiders 2 was the first ever game i got on my xbox 360. It's special to me because i only used to play ps1 and n64. I was literally in awe when I saw this skeleton guy riding a firey blue horse on screen with snow everywhere
It kinda snuck up on me while I was playing Darksiders 1 and 2, but about mid way through both I realized I really really liked the main characters.
Fucking love the Dark Siders series. It one of the best examples of early 2000s edge/asthetics but with great writing and character work. (minus 3 for like 90% of it.)
I was worried my childhood/teenage nostalgia was going to break apart when I played these games again many years later. Thank god it didn't in the story as well as Gameplay. (again minus 3.)
This series is like the few times all the edginess and shit didn’t come off as cringey and still holds up well and I love it so much

I think the last thing that was officially reported on for D4 was just that someone made concept art for one of the games and just uploaded it to artstation last year. Darksiders 2 will always be one of my favourite games EVER! Death is such hell of a protagonist. From design, to animations, his persona, voice... My gosh, his voice. During my many playthroughs I've always had a situation where I just spammed horse summoning button just to hear "I have to go alone..." or "This is no place for a horse..." I have very similiar vibes when I'm watching SPAWN series or play Mortal Kombat 11 with SPAWN and hear Keith David. SO DAMN GOOD!! ❤ To me - Death just had it all. That video made me replay DS2. I'm really in love with the Darksiders series. I know people Yahtzee Croshaw were ripping it for being "derivative" but I honestly don't see anything wrong with taking inspiration as long you have your own soul/identity. It wears its inspirations on its sleeves but it's definitely its own thing.
I use to blame the negative reception but I honestly think it had more to do with guys like Joe Mad leaving the driver's seat. Without him maintaining "the vision" sorta fell apart without a center.
I do really want them to finish though. Even if the game turns out to be glitched and flawed I wouldn't mind having closure to the ending. Also it'd be cool to see Lucifer in his glory.

I remember as a kid in early 2010's it was one of my favorite game series. particularly Darksiders 2. It was a very big improvement over the first game. despite some drawbacks. One of the best games of 2012, without any doubt, especially considering what came out that year - Mass Effect 3, Dishonored, Far Cry 3, The Witcher 2, Assassin's Creed 3, Tourchlight 2, Forza Horizon, Bourderlands 2, Prototype 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles - all of these awesome games, still loved over a decade later. Darksiders 2 was awesome in many aspects - interesting storyline, awesome world, satisfying gameplay, neat powers divided into two skill trees and cool bosses. However, the series as a whole are what you can call a unrealised potential. While second game is really good, the others are "not enough" in manya aspects. I mean the first and third game, as they in my opinion fall short in comparison with Darksiders 2. On the other hand, Darksiders Genesis is a really awesome, Diablo type game that i enjoyed very much. Hopefully it's success will push the series forward, it's been quite a few years after all.

Goddamn dude. I haven’t thought about this series in years. It used to be everything I lived and breathed for a time, thank you for this wonderful video, the end montage brought me to tears. Its been tough, slowly watching all the different series that used to fill me with such excitement and joy slowly wither and fade away to nothingness due to neglect, I’ve become so apathetic as a result and it’s so sad. Halo, Destiny, Gears, and Darksiders, as well as others. I can only hope that one day, we’re all truly blessed by the continuation and conclusion to such a beautiful franchise. I’ll always believe that these games were true iconic treasures.

I loved Darksiders when it came out. I adored Darksiders 2 when it came out. I question the sanity of using Souls game mechanics in Darksiders 3. I regained new hope when I played Darksiders Genesis. And with that hope, perhaps one day I will be able to play Darksiders 4 and this grand tale can finally come to a close.

Darksiders has some of the sickest Horsemen of the Apocalypse designs ive ever seen. Like none of the 4 have bad designs. Its amazing.
Man that outro almost made me tear up, the "Not alone.." always gets me in the feels ever since I played DS1 on release. Also go play Genesis man, it's fricken awesome and seeing the camraderie between two of the horsemen as they actively work together relaly solidifies their bond and why War has such faith in them, and why Death was willing to die to prove his brother's innocence. And to top that it also has a banger ass soundtrack.

Only thing i kinda not am 100% on board is changing half of the horseman from the biblical ones, i feel like using the OG horseman as protagonists would be cooler
Yea it’s definitely a bit weird to change the two from pestilence and Conquest but I guess they just wanted to be all video gamey edgelord about the names. Wouldn’t surprise me considering the series started in 2010 hey

@@DerM0H Considering how much of the existing characters' personalities are dictated by their names, I can still see why they changed it. I would have swore I heard somewhere that in the lore the original four were straight from the Bible, but two of them died, quit, or rebelled against the Council or something and the two renames were the replacements chosen by the Council. I don't remember if that was from some expanded media somewhere or just a fan theory though.

Darksiders is a spiritual successor to Legacy of Kain (for me, anyway). Both are an iconic, epic, dark, story-driven game series with unique and interesting characters, worlds, and plot.
...And both left us blue-balling for more games with very little chance they will ever come.
Darksoders 2 was my favorite game of thr 7 generation. I’ve found myself rebuying this game over and over again just because of how good it is
Own DS & DS2 on PS3. DS, DS2, & DS3, and DS:G on PS4. DS & DS2 on Switch. I own 3 copies of FF7. Sadly........ 3 copies of Skyrim.... Bethesda got me... No excuses

I love the franchise but they seems to refuse to move the story onward. I do hope they do one day.
The third despite his flaws is my favorite because of it's Metroidvania inspiration, I feel the game was too short but still enjoyed it a lot. It feels weaker I think in part because the Director behind Darksiders 1 & 2 barely did any work on the 3 (just some sketch design on Fury), Joe Madureira, an amazing artist.
Darksiders 4 has to be the best it can, I'd really hate if it just fades into memory

DS2 has a special place in my heart, not just cuz of the story, the music and the exploration, it was also my brother's gateway to gaming. He backseated me from start to finish. He managed to finish it as well afterwards without any prior gaming experience to speak off, simply cuz he fell in love with the Darksiders universe. We finished Genesis not long ago too, its a solid entry in the series :)
I feel like Strife would have been the perfect rep for Humanity and what it means to be human in his game; I do believe all three games explain that he is the most sympathetic to humanity..
Also, for this theory, it was actually a great choice for you to use Guts' Theme for said-character.

Literally so fucking good, ever since I played D2 that soundtrack has stuck with me. Also helps that I love the assassins creed series that Jesper Kyd also did work on
I never played this game but I watched all the game playthrough of each game and I must say, This was a good series of games.
I would say, try to get one, if not all three main games and play it through yourself, they are often on sale, so its only fair
DS Genesis is an AMAZING game, overlooked even by fans of the franchise only because of where the camera is, saying Strife needs his own real game, and I'm like "whaaat!?" that IS his real own game, I mean, yes, War is in it too but we are always told how close the horsemen are to one another, even calling themselves brothers and sister, and we finally got a game with 2 of them together interacting with each other and both playable (even in co-op), with a really fun and interesting gameplay that completely feels like a Darksiders game (even War feels so much like in his first game). We get to know about Strife and why he is the way he is, and more about the overall lore, why Strife helps humanity in DS3 is so tied down with what happens in Genesis, how much the horsemen are hurt about the Nephilim with my favorite battle in all the franchise in Eden, with the corpses of their kind still there, and so much more.
DS Genesis deserves way more credit, it's a really great game created by a little indie studio with no more and no less than the mastermind of DS itself (Joe Madureira)

I haven't played Darksiders 1 & 2 in a little over a decade and it randomly came to mind a while ago. Watching this video brings back insane nostalgia. Still one of the greatest games I've played. Nice video.
Man oh man even today I still play the crap out of these three games, (I haven't picked up genesis yet but that's mostly because I saw a few clips of it and something about it just didn't grab me) some days I'll just be like "You know what lets play Darksiders trilogy in order", which was abit of a problem since 2 and 3 happen roughly at the same time but hey I still did it regardless.
I remember the original Darksiders coming into my life in a very dark time when I was contemplating...a sharp end of the blade simply put game showed me sometimes life is going screw you over and you can choose to press on or give up, one thing that I thin deserves a highlight was the Legendary mods you can get late game, they are bloody fantastic and each greatly enhances certain weapons and playstyles, also War being built like a Tank where he can absorb massive amounts of punishment when paired with his Legendary Abyssal armor lets him leech life which I think is a nice touch because then its like seeing him thrive on fight itself.
Darksiders 2 I actually don't really remember when I became awear of this title but regardless I am actually not a super big fan of the Weapon RNG in this game I do prefer the weapons of the first and third game since you know okay these are the Legendary Weapons of the horsemen and there's something mystical about that, that said it was fun playing and replaying this game trying out new builds and taking on the crucible and piecing together Deaths abyssal set which unlike on the Original Darksiders Death is limited to replaying the game one time on that file which was a huge let down for me since I'm a "New Game + Enjoyer", if I could mod the Darksiders 2 files in some way where I could start fresh with the Abyssal Set I would be very happy...but sadly I am not quite that motivated.
Darksiders 3, now this one I remember got alot of hate for being a Souls like game but tbh? the fact that you don't have a stamina bar makes it so you can if you choose endlessly dodge wait for the proper opening and repeat Personally this title is my favorite, I love that once you initially unlock the Abyssal set from the Void DLC you can start a fresh file and have it unlocked, another solid thing about this game are the rune...mod...sigil things I don't recall their exact name but you can use these to passively charge your health wrath and havoc over time meanwhile you can sit there drinking a cup of coffee, one of my biggest gripes about this title is when Envy (Because if you pay attention to what the watcher monologs on about she makes it really obvious its her), but anyway when Envy emerges and forces fury into a slow walk while they talk about stuff you know from your previous X amount of playthroughs meanwhile I'm here trying to do a challenge run and she's ruining it.
Well just wanted to share my two cents on the titles despite being late to the party...I seriously doubt this will ever be read sooooo...This is no place for a review...(couldn't resist).
Looking forward for Darksiders 4 in the year 2030 for them to show us what Strife has been up to and we still wont know how the story ends with the Four being rejoined on earth one last time. XD
This is so beautifully written my guy!! I’ve never had anyone else to really talk to about these games so seeing someone else have just as strong words to write about it makes me glad that there’s other people out there who love these games the same amount as I do. I should’ve gone more in depth on weapon customisation on the darksiders 3 part for sure I think I just ended up cutting stuff for time sadly but the enhancements in that game really can just make builds so powerful and I love it
@@djjaxter The funny story is Originally I wasn't going to go that far in depth but before I knew it was typing an essay and was like "Hell when trains rolling may as well blow the whistle", In all seriousness I am pretty sure I could have gone on alot longer than I did but I am fairly sure there is a character limit on youtube comments so I figure worse comes to worse might just make my own video when I get better tech for sound quality.
I mean hell I remember while back I started recording what I called a "Boss Rush" for Darksiders 2, where I did either a fresh file or a new game + and just recorded the bosses and played them back to back just for kicks, doesn't have the same effect as an actual legit boss rush that say a Castlevania game has but it was something fun to do that day, and the sad thing is I don't think I ever finished it before life hit me with a ton a bricks and I forgot I was doing that.

Absolutely amazing series with balls-to-the-walls insane world-building that got canceled too soon, saw a short resurgence some years later, and are now in limbo with fan bases still waiting for something new.
I found Darksiders by accident someday and I'm glad I did. Liked the first one, but when I played the second I fell in love with the series.
Still need to play 3 and Genesis.

I feel like Darksiders 3 failed to capture what it feels like to be one of the Four Horsemen, combat wise.
You are supposed to be a big deal on the battlefield, but Fury just feels like your ordinary angel/demon. I know she uses whips but I would expect them to work like the whip from Prototype games, not a limp wristed bitch slap.
Legit. You can get killed by some of the most basic enemies in like 3-4 hits its so annoying
@@djjaxter Yeah, and in return it takes like 8 hits to kill those basic enemies.
The combat went too far into the whole darksouls shtick where every piece of crap mob is supposed to be a "threat". I much more so enjoy the idea of the threat being the sheer number of mobs but o well.
Iam not a big gamer so i didnt play too many offline games during my days, but darksiders 2 was one of my favorite games of all time, so much that i did 100% more than 3x. It makes me sad to see that nowadays games are all generic and focused on shoving 123.234.901,33 effects on your screen, while games like this could have given us so much more. Great video!
Darksiders is such a cool story setting that the games never quite managed lived up to. They're not bad games by any means, but they're not great either. I still hold hope we could one day get the "Darksiders 4" game we've been building to from the beginning of playing as all four horsemen in one game.

Darksiders 2 was waaaaaay ahead of its time. AAA game developers still can't achieve all the quality this indie studio achieved at the time.
