Darksiders 2 had the most impact to me because i saw it when i was very young (and i just really like characters that use scythes/scythe-like for weapons)
Be glad you were on the remaster. The rail shooter portion of DS1 was a run killer. It was made easier on rerelease

Great video. I was out at the pub with some friends last week and we ended up speaking about these games, I’ve never played them and my friend was saying I should go for the platinum. Then the next day I woke up and saw you’d uploaded this. Perfect timing, definitely made me more interested in going for the platinum
This vid popped up at the most perfect time! The good old Darksiders games, what a trip. Out of all of them, I never played Genesis. And with that camera angle, I probably would get annoyed really quickly haha.

That was quite a rant during Darksiders 3, super cool you left it in. Even with your opinion changing a bit. But totally agree, why they strayed so much from the first two games...we'll never know.

I got very sick 6 months ago and was in a really tough spot. I’m on the mend now and came across your videos and love the platinum series you got going on. Saw this one and it made me pick up the Darksiders series again as I have all of them and I finally cleaned them up! I fell in love with the series especially with D2, the only one I couldn't Platinum was Genesis cause I'm not a top down gamer, but I remember enjoying D2 the most, great story too (in my opinion) glad you tried the Series out!

Watched through the entire video now. Welcome to the club and thank you for the video, which i say in accompaniment with great congratulations to finishing such a *very* big undertaking. I'm really glad that the series ended up being such a strong one for you and am hoping here along you and many others that it can properly continue finish the saga of the Horsemen with a good and satisfying ending. Heck, just with good, memorable experiences throughout, warts and all.
Darksiders is a really odd beast that people can be quite divided over on what they like from it, what they want from it and what they think it should have. Generally 3 is indeed considered teh weakest and i'm inclined to agree, at least where it concerns story and writing.
Similar to what you said at your feeling of 3, it feels like there's something odd about it. Not quite right on the writing front in comparison to 1 and 2, which some have found to last a bit into Genesis.
I don't know how to put it into words exactly, but i shall try my hand at it:
Darksiders 3 dialogue feels less snappy. Or flowing. The performances are good, but the writing's not quite like a theater or epic in the same vein that 1 and 2 are.
Like you stated, Fury talks a lot more. There's a lot more talking in the game in general. War was quite strategic in what he said and when he said it, which made his wit shine all the more when he does show it. Be it in words, or in actions. Like kicking the Abyssal Gladiator's sword back at him, or chopping off his legs after the Gladiator mocked him for only having two legs to stand on.
Death had more opportunities to converse and the characters had good writing to accompany their performances, and likewise. On the poetic end for characters like Eideard (old Maker), Muria (maker Shaman), Ostegoth (goatman merchant), more snide for Draven (Blademaster in Kingdom of the Dead) and the Chancellor, the Lord of Bones mixes those elements a bit...
There is a likelihood that I could win in a structured and researched debate, with as purpose to analyze 3's writing in comparison to its siblings. But that likelihood would be put in the size class of ants, yet lack their skills of organization.
Something is off in the writing.
By now, other people in the comments have filled you in on the reasons why Darksiders 3 is a different beast-- shutdown of THQ, Vigil and the six-year limbo of the franchise.
However, i find that there's still interesting things to Fury's story. As I understand it by now, she didn't initially join the Horsemen out of a sense of justice, or at least not fully. But because she wanted safety from the Nephilim's destruction.
That puts her in a position where she fights for a cause she does not care for. Her only real care is for the Four as a whole. A small area of care to be sure. For someone with little direction in their life, there is little ambition other than to try and become the leader.
Wrath states that he and his fellow Sins always considered Fury the dumb one-- she seems quite disrespected, the runt of the litter as it were. A tryhard dominatrix that needs to get the last word in.
Hard to like such a character for sure. But it does mean that the development will be the most noticable.
I'd say that Darksiders 3 has the lowest lows, but also a *very* big high where it concerns Lust. A creative take that shows Lust not as something explicitly sexual or erotic, as is very common. But as something more subtly alluring. Something that we *think* will make us happy, that will give our life fulfillment and makes life worth living.
Something wherein we give up our self-control, our standards, our restraint and inhibition to pursue fleeting sensations that has us waste our potential and force the world around us to bend to our own desires, just for even a flicker of fulfillment. And it shall leave us with less than we started with.
The fact that Fury reacted the way she did to her brothers being shown kneeling for her, shows strength of character. Fury is elevated by the bond with her siblings, a fact which Strife can attest to.
How he got on Earth, we do not know... yet. But his love for Fury shines through strongly, else he would not go to the effort of taking up the mantle of Jones, to help her take first steps to a more fulfilling and meaningful path in life.
Fury is still a tryhard dominatrix and I wouldn't mind a rewrite of Darksiders 3 with the writers of 1, 2 and Genesis or a writer like Jonas Kyratzes (Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, The Talos Principle), but all scenes surrounding Lust, plus Lust's performances itself has struck in the mind the best and most positively out of everything in Darksiders 3.

There's not much I can say, I found it an interesting read, and at times felt myself going back to scenes in Darksiders 3 in my head, like the scenes with Lust.. or Strifes return, now knowing he was there from the start being the only "human" not afraid of Fury.
I think I can agree, that Fury while the most unlikable of the 4 horsemen.. she also has the most obvious characters growth, War & Death both more less stay on there own path.. Strife we dont know what he's gone through to be where he is, but Fury has a very clear character change which is actually nice to experience.

3 got a lot of flak on release because people were understandably looking for an action hack-n-slash like 1 & 2, then 3 comes out and it Souls-like. Once you click with the combat it’s an awesome game.
yeah 3 does take some time to get into.. which is a shame as I can understand why so many people just leave it behind after a couple of hours

Though upgrading *all* Cores in Genesis must have taken a while as well. Many are the lamentations of those who undertook and were tormented by the floating platform challenge in the hubworld for the Leviathan Core...

Darksiders is a banger series. I have platted 1,2 and the Genesis one. 3 i didn't like but you gave me inspiration to go for it.
3 sucks at the start.. but it does get much better!

Darksiders 2 has been on my top list for ages. Still play it. There is a glitch where when you drop your weapon and equipt it again you can level it up again and makes for some crazy damage
(Obviously a glitch and is not the intended way to play, but for anyone struggling, here you go)

yeah fr I had to.. I listen to the soundtracks for all 4 games.. and 3's just didnt hit the same as 1 & 2.. and tbh even Gensis had a better soundtrack

Never been a darksiders fan, i never liked them but getting the platinum on them is certainly something new on here, never seen anyone else do it so at least you aren't just going for platinum trophies everyone does.

the reason why 3 is boring compared to 1 and 2 its bc it was made in the peak of the souls like era, where every game was trying to do the same thing bc dark souls was so successfull, this made the game lose its way, i would love for it to be like 2, it would be better, sadge
got the 1 2 and 3 dirt cheap on the winter sale. looked at the plats and went, nah dog, I can't be bothered. and just enjoyed them for the main story and combat. old games, still hold up pretty well. except some parts with the platform grabbing a bit. and not a huge fan of back tracking, but the first one had some fun portal shenanigans. also, weird, mine didn't crash a single time.

Let's go man, you should try Angry Birds Trilogy on the PS3, 9/10 with an estimated 200 hours but if you don't want to, try do the Ratchet & Clank series
i tried to do this too! only got the first one plat. but 80% on the second one. I realized i missed a handful of collectables, and i even followed the guide. i gave up since it just takes too long lol.
Darksiders 1 apocalyptic difficulty was pure ass when it was my one play through, it started extremely difficult and then became easy
If i recall 3 was made during the souls boom, everything had to be a souls like, you couldent escape them, and i think genesis was ment to be a holdover for strifes own game. I am pretty sure it said somewhere it was just a side game made by a diffrent company, since it was orignally made by THQ im not sure where its license ended up.

I gave up when the collectible armor trophy in the first darksiders game didnt pop
unfortunetly when they announced darksiders 3 that they WERE trying to make a souls' like. Something along the lines of fury not being as beefy as her brothers so her fighting style is supposed to be more surgical and hit and runny but you are right they just failed at it
yeah I get Fury being quicker and more surgical with her attacks, I could see thats what they where trying, but I feel like that style of Fury would of worked better than the DS2 gameplay lol.. it was like the worse style of gameplay with the worse character traits

I'm one trophy off the platinum in first Darksiders. Surprised you made no mention of the Aerial Predator trophy or gave no thoughts on the black throne area and how complicated and frustrating some of those puzzles are?
suppose they just didnt take much effort, I knew the aerial predator trophy before going in.. so I just saved prior, but it only took 3 attempts, but I can how others find it annoying! then the black throne area I dont know what you mean by that, I didnt find struggle in any other part of Darksiders 1.. so its not ringing any bells

Prince of Persia trilogy is awesome can’t wait to see it can you do ninja gaiden next as well was my all time favourite on the original Xbox before it got brought out on PlayStation

I think they wanted to go with a completely different genre/style of game with each entry as 1 is more of a hack and slash, 2 is more like a western rpg, 3 is like an action rpg a la dark souls and genesis is a top down action game

I doubt you’ll see this but I’m currently going for darksiders 1 platinum but I’m at 98% complete for the 100% trophy and idk what I’m missing the only thing I can think of but I’m not trying to grind for it if it’s not what I need to max out but the wrath abilities
the thing with the third game is that it was made after theyre parent companie went bankroupt and they were bought bx thq nordic. Also less budged and less time for this game

Yep, the third game is... something else, indeed. I was so upset about what they did to her horse! I have all the extra trophies for it, despite the constant gaming crashes. The first game is still my favorite, and I wanna go back to it on PS3. The second was annoying, and didn't play Genesis. More Hack N' Slash games, please!

2022 had Soulstice and there's some upcoming stuff like Genokids, Enenra, Gori: Cuddly Carnage (though mixed with skate/hoverboarding) and seemingly Yasuke: A Lost Descendant as well.
Fair warning that Soulstice isn't the easiest game in the genre to get into. There's a bunch of mechanics at play and i've seen people say that either the beginning felt slow to them but they're glad they pushed through, or that the middle part dragged on and made their enjoyment take a dip.
Regardless: it's a game with similar production values to Darksiders, a style all its own (though you can find influences of stuff like Berserk, DMC and Bayonetta), a very good story, over 20 different enemy types with only three of them that i'd call outright stinkers, a bunch of interesting stuff *within* those mechanics (many as they are) and seven different weapons total that all have their utilities.
(A tip: Get the grappling hook upgrade for the Tearing Penance/flagellation whip as soon as you can).
@@jurtheorc8117 Yeah, I've played Soulstice, really liked the game, but didn't finish it yet. Now I have Stellar Blade here, as well, but I'm trying some stuff now on FF7 Rebirth to get it's Plat, or until I can't take it anymore, and go back to Stellar, or some games I have on PS3.

@@itsstuddy Yea, from the prologue of DS1 to the "main game" a 100 years had pass, fury go in about 1-2 (maybe more, cant confirm...)days after the DS 1 prologue. you din't go for the ''secret ending"?
