Here's what I understood- 1. Time vs tension: tension does not imply to stress here, when we are learning we should focus more on what we can learn with the time at hand rather then wishing to have more time . Example from my experience: I was once absent in school for one day then the next day I came to know ,the teacher said that he will take a test today ,since that class was after lunch break ,I studied the chapter in that 30 mins which would have taken me 2 hours if I had to study it at home . So basically under pressure our work efficiency increases 2. Declaritive vs procedural pathway : declaritive learning is like memorising the theorems and formulas of math and procedual learning is solving a problem using those theorems and formulas . Here the 123 rule is recommended: for every one hour of declaritive learning -get 2 points of feedback (I quite didn't understand this one😅) you should get 3 hours of procedual learning (practical) 3. Diffuse vs focus: diffuse is like reading the whole textbook but remembering only fragments of it whereas focus is like learning a single topic /chapter but you will never forget it in your life. But remember diffuse learning helps to connect the dots. For example you studied only basic calculations in elementary classes, at that time your sole focus was doing addition subtraction multiplication and division but in the higher classes you are using these calculations to solve geometry, trigonometry, algebra etc so the dots are connected. 4.Liner vs lateral thinking : linear thinking is like unnecessary critical thinking, eg: to solve a trigonometry problem there are certain formulas but what you doing is instead of writing the given formula you write how the formula is derived ( you do extra work!completely unnecessary) lateral think is taking a shorcut and getting the same work done more quickly 5. Note taking vs note making: Here I am basically making notes I am writing what I understood . So I may remember this longer than by just watching the video . when you are in class and the teacher is giving a lecture you should solely focus on what the teacher is saying. When you attend the lecture and make notes at the same time , the focus gets disrupted. Thus do one thing at a time. And make notes only when you understand the topic. I might not be correct as this is only what I understood from watching the video. Hope this helps someone😊
From my understanding the 2 points of feedback are supposed to come from the practice, so after you have done the procedural learning you should have a minimum of 2 "holes" in your learning that you should go review.
It definitely makes sense haha. I recommend you watching it again becaause diffuse vs focus needs a bit of tweaking! The feedback part of 123 means to ask for people's opinions/thoughts on your piece of work that you create.
Tension over Time Procedural (Application) over Declarative (book learning); 1-2-3 rule Focus vs Diffuse (big picture/step away/Discuss) Lateral (Finding a different way to understand something) vs Linear Note taking vs Note Making (Only write based on understanding/draw picture)
I have been following mike and Matty's guidance since my high school days, guess who is now an electrical engineering student! Can't thank them both enough. You guys are awesome!
1. Tension over time 2. Lateral learning over liner learning 3. Correct use of diffuse and focused tactics 4. Declarative vs procedural pathway 5. Note making over note taking
My son is a note-maker, at 9.5, he listens to the lesson and the only way I know he's understood it, is when he puts the topic in his own words at the end.
@@KoiAcademyhe has an incredible photographic memory!! And we're getting into mind mapping. I taught a quick lesson on how his mind maps don't have to be a whole bunch of words, it can be pictures to help him really know if he understands. He loves it!
Make a video about how to study anatomy, say one by Santiago Q that offers the method of visualizing, checking, remembering and applying, but I would like to have a second opinion
My all friends make notes from textbooks or videos they watch on yt but what's the point in writing things that already just take few seconds to reach out to?me on the other i don't write a thing down until i understand it purely to the core from memorising the concept to solving practice problems i never study from textbooks during exams only my notes and i am an A+ student so it works guys focus on becoming a note maker Also i might be a A+ student still i made 2 mistakes out of 5 for which i feel really dumb 😂 but that's okay that's why they called mistakes so gotta improve them
Yea, My mom always forces me to study all day and I think that I also need rest to do good studies without killing time with my restless brain. Its kinda funny that Im still focusing on games and still doing good result😂
I don't undrstand the 1-2-3 rule. How did you know this rule? Is this your personal experience? Why do we need to have 2 feedbacks and the 3 hours of praticing? Especially the 3 hours one. I'm just curious. I hope if anyone's reading this comment and you know why, pls explain and thank you:) It's a real good video.
By being kind to yourself, by allowing yourself to make one, learn from it and put up systems and create techniques to avoid them in the future. Mistakes are lessons in disguise, don't be afraid of them but don't make the same one often!
Hey koi fish l am a student in 10th all the stressed because everytime i am in class while the teachers are teaching i don't get most most of the stuff 😭😭 ...... So I haven't studied most of the things........ And half of the year is already over 😅I have got a bulk of syllabus to complete but everytime l sit for studying all my time goes in thinking what how which topics to study 😢 can you help me .............
Hey, rookie! I'd ask your seniors, professors, or to google your past papers! From the bulk, notice then circle which topics are important and have had the most questions. After you find the gems from that bulk of syllabus, I'd study the hardest topic first, when your energy is at its highest and studying the easier subjects when your energy is the lowest. Just casually getting the chills thinking about how this info is public now 🙀
Well...two points of feedback is the fact to ask myself what i’ve learned during the 1 hour of declarative learning. Am I right?

What if the subject you study you can't note-make (draw pictures of the notes), do we just mind map it in simple terms?
