Collect: Collect information from new material or previous cycles. Filter the not as useful concepts from the useful concepts.
Connect: Connect the information to long-term memory. Use mind maps to physically connect ideas together.

    My Takeaways:
    1. Read and understand
    2. Do not just copy into the notes from whatever resource you are following, instead understand each point and write it in your own words.
    3. It is easier for the brain to remember in terms of connections / relations, hence understand every concept with a purpose and a result.
    4. reread your notes from time to time just to refresh your self.
    5. When learning it's very common to find multiple resources for the same topic, do not follow all resources choose one decent resource and carry on.

Your last segment helped me look at running in a new light. While it's not studying like this channel is dedicated to, it helped me realise that part of the problem I'm facing is me. Part of my lack of direction and new progress is me wanting to shrink back into my comfort zone. It's a battle I face each and every day, but thank you for reminding me with this video to keep fighting. Love your videos. They push me to be better, think wider, and aim higher. And now, I’m in university and here you can’t get away without studying. I realised that things have been so easy for me that I don’t know how to study really. The theory about information stored as a web just made me realise why mind maps made me learn things so much easier. I love remembering pieces of information by connecting them together because I remember the connection better than the information itself. It's quite useful. I also get stuck in the connect step. I never go as far as challenging my information often which is why I constantly forget the details. Also I need to start spaced repetition already, I need to keep up studying for atleast a few hours after classes everyday and explore the topics during weekends.

another tip i reccomend is, in order to collect the right information you need to know what you don’t know first. i watched this studying for the SHSAT and i realized the major gap in my studying plan was that i’m relearning what i already know instead of using my time more efficiently

Well ,what I understood was that you have to read and process the information in an easy way for understanding. Then we test our selves to understand our weaknesses. From that we gain our knowing of weaknesses and questions. When we ask questions to books and teachers, we gain new knowledge and this cycle repeats

If you haven't yet, I'm interested in doing self paced study programs and how to do that.
I find if I'm in a course where they just tell me what to do it's easy.
But if I'm just handed a textbook I have a hard time planning out my workload to prepare for the final test at the end to get my certifications.

I am no longer student. I graduated college in 2021. However, after working in my current profession of 3 years, I had a crisis where I wanted to change careers. Currently, I am in the process of looking back on the life that I lived and trying to figure out the life i want to live. I realized that in order to change careers to whatever it may be, i need to relearn the basics of basically everything. That also results in relearning how to study. Watching this really made me realize that I have been studying wrong my entire life. And why I never got the results I thought i deserved from repetition of hours of reviewing notes. I am currently in the process of figuring out what I want to study and change careers in but this vid has helped me, rebuild the foundation of learning.

That's awesome you're rediscovering yourself and that lead you here!
Question: Which professional are you currently looking to switch to?

    • @hannahcaramel
      @hannahcaramel ปีที่แล้ว

@CajunKoiAcademy I am currently still researching but I am currently leaning toward studying/ getting a degree in dietetics/nutrition to become an RD.
My current profession is working in Hospitality (Hotels). I went into this because I enjoy helping people and making a difference, even just a little. But it's very far from what is it. I feel like I'm a verbal punching bag and I just can't take it anymore. I still want to help people, not sit at a desk 24/7, and make a difference. But, it dawned on me, while looking at the admission requirements that I am not great at school/studying despite hard efforts. So I started to question if I just don't know how to study and ya here I am! And because all this time I didn't know how to properly study, my grades in HS were not where I wanted it at. So if I were to pursue this I would also need to upgrade biology, Chem, and English to get the grade I want to pursue this. But baby steps first. For now, I'm going to focus on relearning English Grammar to write better.
