You just answered my prayers on the wheels for your 48 Ford! I have a 1940 Dodge 1 1/2 ton dually four wheel drive power wagon and a 1942 6x6 power wagon 1 1/2 ton and both have the same issue you have with your 48 ford. I did get 6 20” bud wheels out of the junkyard for my 40 because the ones it has on it are rusted pretty bad around the bead because of sitting and sinking in a field for years. Also the 20” tires for the wheels are super expensive so a 18” wheel will work better for me and easier to get!!! Being a medically retired police officer on a limited budget I can’t afford to have someone else do all the fabricating for me and your videos with the 48 were a blessing for me!! Thank you so much for the push to get mine done starting this fall!!!! My trucks are my dream and I will make that happen now with your videos!!!!

Watching from Cape Breton island. Passed by Canning today,sadly my co- travellers werent interested in rolling through. Would have liked to see Chads yard with mine own two eyes. That ford is a neat old truck, nice and solid. I have modified wheels in the past,if they run true and balance then run em. Im amazed with how shiny the grille is. Gold running boards, bet they will look good..distressed imho would be better. Wet T-shirt, yup was very hot today. Have to give you extra credits for working outside in the heat!
That truck will look nice with Old School Lettering on the the doors that reads “HILTZ AUTO CO” then randomly sand Down areas on red coat to let Patina Come thru. Red oxide primer for the bare patches.
This truck looks 100% better with the fenders back on it. I'm glad Chad is leaving this all original for the most part. Aiden is a great help on getting this truck back together. Queen Jolene keeping it all on track. Great job everyone.
Yes tamdem wheels only with dual drive. For that the extra axle in front of the existing axle. Single angle with a shorten rear chassis. The rocker door panel in matt red with gold strips😍
If I get to have an opinion...LOL...love the gold running boards, leave the old truck red and restripe the gold same colour as running boards. Looks so old school...truly cool...always wanted an old fire truck...so well looked after. Thank you to all our FIREFIGHTERS !
That truck is too nice of a survivor to have the top of the cab chopped. Leave it original like it was as a fire truck to honor its heritage. It will make a nice car hauler the way it is. I had a 52 F1 and Katrina finished it off years ago, your 48 F6 makes me wish I still had it.
Truck is looking awesome, love old school trucks I have a 1946 Dodge power wagon but it is a 1/10 scale remote control RC truck, I have a 1/10 scale steel car hauler it pulls my other RC trucks, Like my 1/8 scale grave digger monster truck it is a awesome hobby, also have a 1967 Ford bronco 1/10 scale and two 1979 Ford broncos and a old scout they are a blast to get out and hit the trails climbs over rocks. And I will be following I have to see when done and race car on it yeah
Btw Chad here's a Tip next time you need to fit those old style fenders, use what is known as an " alignment bar." It makes the job go much faster. Bigtime, with a lot less headaches. Good job guys. Truck is looking Good and Jolene choose the perfect color for those running boards. That gal knows what she's doing. That Truck is gonna look fantastic when it's done. BTW You can polish that old paint and make it looks amazing! and just blend in the new area's where you've replaced that small pieces of metal.

Cause they're awesome and I was wondering if any copies are for sale? I'd really love to get one of the Green Goblin and we'll heck I'd like to get one of each one you have hanging up there cause I'm an "artist" myself and have been free hand drawing for around 24 years or so. And as always keep being you and doing what you do cause you're Amazing at what you do!!!!!!!!! i had 2 49 fords for a while. one had been sandblasted before i got it and was a rust bucket but complete with original 6 cyl flathead. the better bodied truck had a oldsmobile v8 in it. i took the good one completely appart including the frame. alas wife got sick and the trucks had to go. these trucks are all over the place here in louisiana. love these videos

Just a thought cause there isn't any shine left on the paint could you not use a matt red spray barm on the bare metal Just to stop it rusting at least by using a matt it shouldn't stand out so much once it's weathered a little bit. Just a thought. Keep up the great work all of you 👍 👏
if your looking for wheels and tires for the truck look for a chevy top kick or gmc dump truck for the late 80s or 90s down and get the axles and wheels and tires that way you can swap over disk brakes all the way around or a school bus also.thanks - nick

@@rd-ch1on off center and out of balance are two totally different things. Balance is easy, you just add weight to the light side. off center is where the rim will go up and down as it turns. How far off, maybe a little maybe a lot. Just saying grinding on the spokes would have to be very precise. We will find out.

When doing something like putting the fenders on the "48, I find it best to carry a tapered punch that I push through the holes to line both panels up.

Why don’t you just shorten the frame instead of doing the double axles in the rear and make a really cool truck bed from something you have laying around? That would be awesome!

It would be good to hear your opinion or process on how you maintain a patina truck ? Will you rockguard or oil underside ? Do you lacquer or wax topside ? . I am not a big fan of when they look too shiny but I wouldn't want the truck to rot any more and end up needing more welding.

Truck looks good but I think you should ditch the 2speed rear and use a f550 rear instead.might be able to use the strait front from a f550 axel..will have better breaks and have better choice of wheels.
Is Aiden wearing a mic? He should so we can hear what he is thinking. I think that it is high-time that you each invest in battery powered impact wrenches and drills. Maybe Dewalt would give them to you at a reduced price since you are advertising their angle grinders during each episode. i invested in Makita tools and their batteries but if you can get Dewalt at a reduced price then go with them. When there are a lot of nuts and bolts the drivers can be an aggravation and time saver. Just saying...

That fine truck has a twin in need of rescue , sleeperdude on TH-cam , great channel with family car / truck rescue , the episode was 4000 cars , resued a few , it’s mid way in the content . Hope this is of hope for any search of parts or any project search’s .
I personally prefer the dually look with a chassis extension on my car carriers. Maybe you can explain to guys like myself the benefits of tandem set up. Cheers for the great content 👍👍👍👍
Those 20" low pro tires or did you say you changes the hoops on the rim? Very cool, I'm sure you changed the gearing? I'm building a 65 f600 & am using 6 bud front and rear ends from a RV for highway gears. Cool build friend I always enjoy watching your builds

Flip the brackets over for the front fenders. Round part up as they support the fender
The problem wouldn't have been the balance, it would be the centering of the inner section on the outer rim.
Ya, there was a gang of weights together. Can't offset off centre.

The fender braces have to be arch at the top to clear the tire.

Definitely got me a soft spot for the 48-50 pickups. Had a 50 in 1980. It was the F2 flavor with the flathead V8. It so reminds me of a locomotive.
