I heard her singing and was blown away by her voice. Like you Crystal, I just couldn't believe that little girl speaking voice. Amazing performer. Amazing woman. Love listening to this band. That husband of hers is a bit of a guitar player too. Out of sight!

This was the day after that Mad Dogs and Englishmen set, and it sort of shows, the emotional level is a bit down. I saw them a week later on top of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County CA, and they brought out Weir again. They blended a lot better up there. Practice, I guess. Was lucky enough to be down front at last year's Oakland Fox show just released on CD/DVD.

I can't stand Susan, personal opinion. Her vocal range isn't very impressive and neither is her playing.. I don't understand the hype.. I miss the crap out of the DTB.
Everyone has off nights, but she seems to have mostly off nights (with her playing)... Look up the video of her, Derek and the band jamming backstage with Taj Mahal... She couldn't even play the rhythm to "Leaving Trunk" one of the simplest blues standards...I'm not being a total hater, the woman does have some talent, but when these jam band addicts try to say the TTB is the best touring band going right now, now that is laughable.
+ryan401 Considering half the crappy female singers out there today who choose to parade around half nude and lip sync, Susan smokes them all. Saturday night that lady owned The Ryman with Derek. They came there to play and they were awesome. Sorry you can't enjoy it but if you don't think they are among the best live bands now, I just don't know what to say to that. Your opinion, and just like a$$holes, every one has one. The old saying is true.

i think she's juuuust fine, everyone has different likes, all good, just don't like to see peeps tear artists down in general. But hey, Imagine if Chris Stapleton could play like Derek..then you'd have the whole package there! I love when Susan does Midnight in Harlem, n Let me get by ;0)
