I love DQM but seriously, this is by far the worst designed puzzle in all of gaming. Giant, messy, hoardes of annoying monsters, non-intuitive, non-satisfying and a cutscene for each and every damn quarter-turn of one of these fountains. I almost broke my switch in half. Like come on, it takes 12min even if you know what to do?! What the hell. Thank you man. Now I can finally continue in peace 🫶🏻
It's pretty bad (that's why I'm here), but it pales in comparison to the wind puzzle in the Demon King's Castle in Shin Megami Tensei V. That one was bad enough that the devs came out with a patch that nerfed the puzzle difficulty.
I have to agree with others here that this dungeon was just way too frustrating. I feel like I had the right idea, but just could not find a way to get access to the furthest switch on the right hand side. All the other dungeons so far, I could figure out except this one. Thanks for the guide!
Same exact thing here. Hadn’t used a guide yet and ingot to that top right spot but I couldn’t figure out the pathing to allow me to get there and have water flowing
personally I found it pretty simple to figure out once I figured out how to get to the upper right switch but it was rather frustrating and I never thought to drain the main water to open up a path
The first few dungeons in this game had no puzzles. When they finally showed up in the middle echelons, I was pretty happy (especially the cake puzzles) Then I got to this. Fuck this dungeon.
Thank you. This dungeon spoiled the game for me, unfortunately. The slow cutscenes and endless weak monster fights... it really bothers me when a game doesn't value the player's time. I hope they'll learn from this.
You are my HERO, I was losing my mind in this puzzle. Thank you so much!!! I can’t believe they didn’t implement some sort of repel monster mechanic to make these dungeons a little more palatable.
Thank you!! I've been here over and hour, I knew I had to be missing something - I never noticed when the water level would drop at the very bottom so I could cross 😭 I knew that's what I had to do, I just never noticed when I get it and wind up in a effing loop over and over! Thank you!
This wouldn’t have been so bad if it weren’t for the LUDICROUS amount of monsters packed in this place messing up your concentration of the puzzle every two seconds. Thanks!
This is maybe the most ridiculous puzzle I’ve seen in a JRPG in a looooong time, I spent like 2-3 hours trying to figure it out before finally giving up (the only thing I’ve looked up the whole game btw). How in the actual fuck did the devs think people were gonna be able to realistically solve a puzzle with this many steps, this many rooms, in a very specific order, while having your entire thought process hijacked every 2 seconds by getting into a battle? I thought some of the other dungeons were a little tedious, but this is just a little insane honestly.
The dungeon with the creme caramel trampolines gave me a little trouble but I managed to figure it out on my own, this one is just awful though. It's tainted the experience a bit in all honestly
@@Mmmeggss dude, fuck that crème trampoline puzzle too lol. Those 2 dungeons felt so out of place compared to the rest of the dungeons in the game. It wouldnt have been as jarring if the dungeons the whole way through were gradually introducing more and more complex puzzles as the game progressed, but instead they just feel completely out of place
@@TakeaSwigBro absolutely agree, it wouldn't have been an issue if these convoluted puzzles weren't just thrown in randomly. The camera movements when jumping on the trampolines were really jarring too - I'm not sure who play-tested those two dungeons, but they're horrible 😆
@@Mmmeggss I get the feeling that there was little to no play testing done for the later parts of the game, I have a hard time believing anyone could playtest either of the last 2 dungeons (but especially the last one) without seeing how obviously convoluted it is lol. Tbh I thought JRPG’s were solidly past the days of the last dungeon being an absolute shitshow out of nowhere, but I guess not.
@@TakeaSwigBro The late game is extremely lacklustre and flimsy in terms of gameplay. A lot of the earlier bosses gave me quite a bit of trouble even with their vulnerability to debuffs, but with a giant horrifying form of Estark it can't even take down a single one of my monsters. It kind if felt like a similar issue to pokemon where all my team members ended up extremely overleveled and overpowered. The bumper bonus ball is so overpowered too, I wished I hadn't used one since the boss fight and metal king slime fight completely destroyed any balance I could've maintained for even a little challenge. It's a real shame since I was really enjoying it up until then, but I'm glad it's not just me who has problems with it at least
Thank you very much for this video, I was enjoying the game very much until this level came and I was on the verge of quitting the game just because of not being able to figure out how to solve it.
I stopped playing for 2 months but picked it back up today and just followed this guide! Can’t believe it still takes 12 minutes to solve even when you know exactly where to go. It’s ridiculous!
Thanks! Was considering uninstalling when I couldn't figure it out after an hour. I knew I had to get to the back right area but couldn't figure out the right water level. So annoying.
I like these puzzles. I felt like I was doing an old school Zelda puzzle. Not a fan of the open world crafting and cooking sim that Zelda has become. I thought it was fun. Plus got super lucky with a metal slime king encounter and everything was mostly running away from me lol so maybe my opinion is bias hehe
I wasnt okay with it but it was not a game breaker for me...just tedious work, felt a bit old-school but not in the best way...can't imagine doing this if battles were random
You know I first thought there was a way to fast forward the video to save some time, but you actually do need 12 straight minutes of instruction to "drain the water so that you can then fill it with more water". What rpg makers seemingly can't figure out is that when you're forced to fight endless waves of monsters to solve puzzles like this one your party becomes so powerful the subsequent bosses get steamrolled. I remember bosses that the game let me fight at a reasonable level. I'll forget about the final bosses of this game in a week. Thanks for the video.
Completely agree, some of the bosses around the middle seriously messed me up but the final ones are seriously pathetic feeling because of overleveling. It doesn't help that debuffing and status conditions are so overpowered in this game either. It felt so weird being confronted with Estark Izmah only for me to be able to sap, blunt and accuracy lower it with ease and for it to be a joke even whilst having all my monsters stats lowered by 2 stages :/
Thank you for making this I haven’t had to look up a guide yet but I got so frustrated with this place. I made it to the end almost but couldn’t figure out the path to make it back while blocking the water
Thank you so much! I've gotten everything else by far - but this was so poorly designed/implied that I just could *not* figure the final part of it out. I appreciate you!
Genuinely terrible game design present in this dungeon unfortunately. Every other one is linear as hell and then they throw this garbage at the player. It's a water dungeon though so I guess it makes sense
@@Mmmeggss 10000% hard agree. Water dungeons generally are the worst. If they had just made the area smaller and a bit more straight forward - like axing the very back right switch and possibly another, it would have been fine. I was just blind and DIDN'T see the back slope to get to it, there was absolutely nothing that drew me back there to discover it.
I was seriously going crazy at trying to find out how to get to that last switch in the upper right corner. God this puzzle was such an annoying convoluted mess.
Thank you man, you saved me a giant headache. After the cakes puzzle for which I also looked down a guide as it was already driving me insane, I arrived into this dungeon and I was like "huuuuuuuh" after the first 2-3 springs. Thank you again ♥
I see this dungeon features too much water to avoid being afflicted with the curse of the dreaded water level. Seriously hate this dungeon! Thank you so much for the guide because this is seriously frustrating 😆

Cuz I played the entire puzzle and not once did a monster attack me, but then I went back outside and to other areas and they attacked me like normal again. It's actually terrible. This "dungeon" is bad, because it isn't linear like all the others before it. In fact it punishes you if you do do it linearly which is probably what's happening to most people in the comments.
Basically you need to have set up the end waterfalls to face inwards BEFORE filling the center otherwise you're screwed and have to start over because the water blocks them. Especially true for the northeastern one.
All they had to do to make it much better is add another switch at the center closer to the portal on northen end that when rotated removes all of the center water. But no that would save so much backtracking!
Welp that's that! Rip game was fun but with my characters now lvl 60+, 70000 gold, 5+ hours later, I'm done. Pretty sure I could beat the boss easy with omniheal, kaboomle unlocked with mp regen, 600+ hp party members, etc.
