Range Rover L405 Front and Rear Brake Pad Replacement (w/ Brembos)

  • In this video I replace the front and rear brake pads on my 2013 Range Rover L405. This is the same process as for the Range Rover Sport (L494) as well.

    Did you ever get and squeaking or squealing on the front brakes? I have the 6 pot brembos and find them noisy when coming to a stop.

      Yes, they generate a good bit of brake dust so it helps to wash them every now and again to keep them clean. You can also try putting some anti squeal compound (or spray) behind the pads to help with squeals.

    Best place to get the pads for 16 Supercharged L405? And do I need to replace sensors ?

      I buy my brake pads from my local auto parts store, nothing too special. You can reuse your old pad wear sensor so long as it is still in good condition. If your pad wear warning light isn't on, the sensor is probably fine.

    What brand break pads & rotors do you think are good quality? Should I stick with original Land Rover brand! Thank you

      I purchased the pads from my local auto parts store (O'reilly Auto Parts), the brand is Import Direct. You certainly ca't go wrong with original Land Rover parts but there are other good high quality options for brakes from aftermarket suppliers like BrakeBest and Import Direct.

      I did not paint them. I believe the previous owner painted them but not entirely sure.

    I was told you can't just replace the break pads you must do the rotors as well. Is that true?

      It really just depends on the mileage and how worn they are. If you see deep grooves or a very uneven surface, or a lot of rust, you may want to replace them. My rotors had about 100k miles on them and were just fine, so they can last quite a while!

    Hello hope you’re having a good day, Thanks for your video really helped me out followed everything to the T, BUT the only thing when I turned on my truck It shows “brake pads worn” and “Emergency Park Break” on the dashboard. Took it to several places to delete codes and they seem to not find anything on their computer. Please help. Thank you

      Sounds like you may have left the pad wear sensor disconnected, or it got damaged when you removed it to replace the pads. I'd take the wheel off and inspect it (rear sensor is on the passenger side, front sensor is on the drivers side), fortunately you can replace the sensor if needed without having to remove the pads again.

      @@evandoeseverything174 thanks for your fast reply. Really appreciate it. So I bought my brake pad wear sensor in O’reilly. Today I went to buy them at the Land Rover dealer which off course I paid close to $200 dollars for both of them but once I installed them the brake pad worn alarm went out. So now I’m stuck with the Park brake is in Maintenance mode alarm in my dashboard. I tried so many times what you explains at the end of the video and no result. 2015 Range Rover Sport SC Thank you and have a good day sir.

      So a quick update. I opened up my hood close doors while pushing down to my accelerator and pulling back on my brake switch I pushed my start button, then turned it off, back on again, then off all this with accelerator pushed and brake switch pulled. After that it cleared my maintenance brake mode off. Thank you

      @@JMartinez_24 Glad you got the pad wear sensor issue figured out. Dang, sorry you're still having trouble with the parking brake maintenance mode. It should just be opposite of the procedure you used to put the vehicle into parking brake maintenance mode. No tricks to it, but the procedure must be carried out in the correct sequence. There are some other videos on TH-cam that explain the maintenance mode procedure better than I do, perhaps someone else's explanation will make more sense than mine.

      Please watch the first 30 seconds or so of the video, where I do the procedure. It is as follows. With the ignition on, press and hold the parking break lever down for at least 2 seconds, while keeping it down, press and hold the accelerator down for at least 2 seconds, and while still holding everything down as mentioned, cycle the ignition off and then on again.
