Outstanding gentleman. Been doing brakes on the drive for many years. The bleed nipple still scares me. You just never know if it’s going to come undone or not or brake off. Love the videos thank you.
You should use copper grease rather than normal grease between hub and disk, wont need as much either, also good for the disk retaining screw as they like to seize
Thank you for the L494 video on brakes. I recently had a similar piston reset challenge when doing my rear brakes. I have a 2017 L494. I had to replace the caliper ($525 at LR dealer blah). I'm reusing the e-brake motor from the original unit. Question: Does the e-brake motor have to be reset in maintenance mode before it is installed on the new caliper? I'm asking this because the motor is currently on the bench and I don't know "where" the motor is with reference to the car's current e-brake status. Thanks in advance!!!!
For the handbrake bit... U don't need software... If u turn ignition on, foot down on the accelerator and down on the handbrake... Turn ignition off and back on whilst still holding it will wind it back... Then inverse in the sense of hand brake and to but it back on 👍🏻
Hi. Would You be abble to explain how did You manage to fix stuck rear break motors? I just have the same problem today on one side pb motor stuck and thoesn't want to go back to fitt new brake pads. Would You be abble to tell what to do? Many thanks in advance M.K
Hello gentlemen new to the channel just treated my self to a 2013 Range Rover sport l494.rear brakes need doing do you do customers cars or is it just your own for TH-cam.great content
Cheers, nice to see some maintenance, Can you please buy a cheap dico 3 and show how to get it up to standard, not everyone can afford Defenders and RR 🙂 love the channel btw.
If you revers the polarity on the wires to they calipers the electronically rewind back in, or two wire to a spare 12v battery ? Their are vids on youtube how to do it !
For anyone wondering... leave it running in drive, have someone holding the brake pedal pop the hood remove the 30 amp fuse for electronic brake system. Put in park and turn truck off. Now you can push the piston in on the rear calipers without damage, and just slap pads in done and done.
Hi,you didn't mentioned anything about the front pads,i bought the same from Brembo for my L320 and i thing i put them wrong like i see,i had no instructions, the one that you put in the exterior i put it on the interior 😬 There is an explanation for mounting them that way? 🤔😁
If you put cola in a glass and place a 1p piece in overnight the following day all that is left is grit [try it]......What news on Big Red? looking forward to seeing that build !!
I have used Coca-Cola to free an aluminium seat tube on a mountain bike. Filled the whole seat tube with a 2lit bottle and a few hours later seat post was free enough to remove.
With respect to your Coca Cola comment: yes => Coca Cola is one of the best "anti seize" and "de-ruster" you can get so I am pretty sure that works very well. 🤗- untouched this would live to know what size and type of nut you use to remove the caliper holder, so you can remove the discs. Thanks in advance!
Coke used to work, but i think now they have removed the "working stuff" making it a bit more healthy. About the rear piston. To get it in you must rewind it with a special tool that twists and pushes the piston.
don’t even know why you torqued up the disk retaining bolt, just a light snug is all that’s required - otherwise the next person is on the dugga dugga snap routine
They look like the Audi VW rear brakes have an electronic handbrake switch that you gave to use an OBD or a Vag scan to access the MMI to set the rear brakes in service mode you can unplug the cable to the motor and put a 12v battery on the motor pins that Will either open or close the pistons when you connect the leads to the motor if it starts to come out reverse the wire connectors to the motor it should go back in to the caliper leave it on for about ten seconds when it’s gone back in then the brake pistons will rotate you can then use the piston wind back tool to push them home have a look at this video 7 minutes in th-cam.com/video/sbIFG_8vSKk/w-d-xo.html
Was just quoted $4150.00 for a brake job on my 2019 Range Rover Sport td6. Yes, $4150.00 US dollars. Discs and pads. LAND ROVER SCARBOROUGH, MAINE. SHAMEFUL
It would be great to have less of the music and more of a talk through as you work on things. Maybe I’m getting old but the tunes do nothing for me.......
Have you heard of the Coca Cola & Play-Doh method?
Obviously FULL FAT Coca Cola on a FULL FAT Range Rover.
Coca Cola will dissolve lots of seize stuff.
heard of vinegar being used

Great video, really enjoying seeing real life maintenance including the challenges
Hello mate do you do customer cars or is it just you tube bits you do.keep up the good work

L494 2018 this function not working.
@@emililiev6699: yes that's what I found too, any resolution on this yet ?
What was the torque setting at 12.20?

They are long cables for suspension hight system and off road full articulation of the axle i think ?
Nice one Sam

Great video! Just one question: Which diameter should the brake discs for the front have? 380 or 360 mm?
Cheers, nice to see some maintenance, Can you please buy a cheap dico 3 and show how to get it up to standard, not everyone can afford Defenders and RR 🙂 love the channel btw.

Full fat Coke is good for softening or dissolving superglue and also full fat Coke and tin foil is good for polishing up rusty chrome
Do you have to put it in service mode for just rear pads only?

And coca cola... Worked well on a seized injector on a 3.0l one time 👍🏻
Hola desde Colombia muy bueno el video ...👍

A wise man once told me to use the old pads to press against to compress the caliper. Not to sure how wise he was.
silly question what is the calibration for is that just if you take the motors off ?
Do you have a link for that brake caliper tool?

What brand and model number brake pads are you using?
Coca Cola can also be used to clean old, rusty tools. Just put the tools in a Coca Cola bath for some days and clean and oil it.
Yep, the Coke trick works. It is brilliant at cleaning tarnished metal.
where can we download manuel
What are the torque specs for the caliper and bracket bolts?
On the rear?
Did I miss the part where you clean the new disc with cleaner to remove grease form the packaging
They’re coated discs, no grease on them because it isn’t applied to coated discs
Ah.. Just got to the bit u talk about it 😂😂
Coke used to work, but i think now they have removed the "working stuff" making it a bit more healthy. About the rear piston. To get it in you must rewind it with a special tool that twists and pushes the piston.
It’s not like a VW where the piston rotates, these go straight back!
Coke and play doh 🤣🤣 I will see if Mike knows that one 👍👍
That’s now how main dealers do it because we never torque up that grub screw 😂😂
Never heard of the Coca Cola method but I do know that in the early days of uncoated aluminium cans that diet Coke ate its way out overnight
No copper slip on the back of pads ?
No sir, they have anti vibration material applied to the back of the brake pads - absolutely do not grease
You don’t need anything to do the piston wind back! There’s a procedure using the hand brake button/ throttle and start button works perfect
I've always thought that. Just switch on ignition and release handbrake
@@CC-io3nc that does not work. There’s a special procedure to wind it back into service mode
Strange. I've got the electric handbrake on my vw
@@CC-io3nc just releasing an electric hand brake doesn’t mean you can change the brake pads
Would that procedure you've mentioned also work on vw cars aswell?
Haha love this, real issues real life sorted! Get the coke out
What if you drink Pepsi? Would that work as good😂 but cola has been used I some motor replacement
bro every vid i see has 2 bolts for the caliper i have the massive one with one bolt
Surely you just need to wind them back in rather than compressing them?
Wind back the park brake motor, then compress piston like a regular caliper
Сэм,я думал вы только Дефендеры ремонтируете.
I use Coca-Cola (full fat) to de-rust cast iron pans.
don’t even know why you torqued up the disk retaining bolt, just a light snug is all that’s required - otherwise the next person is on the dugga dugga snap routine
Can only imagine what cola must do to the teeth!
my uncle used to pour coca cola on his window to clean it old lorry driver trick
you do not need software for the electric brakes it's not mandatory
My 2 post lift isn’t mandatory, but it helps! 😂

Направляющие суппорта смазывать такой смазкой нельзя,должна быть другая смазка.Это не соблюдение технологии ремонта.
phosphoric acid in coke eats rust guys

rr pain in arse you need to spin the thing
Painted make absolutely no difference, that coating is cheap and they rust no matter what. Just saying.
