I just finished a massive project that was based almost solely on dispersion glass I super wish I'd seen this before hand. This is amazing! Back to the drawing board I'm snatching this now and very excite!😅
Agreed, man... So many geniuses deliver great tools, and then we are left spending days just getting to figure out how they work ! Such a walkthrough is bliss
I just got the full addon and wow. I am just giddy with how good this looks, i’ve been playing around for an hour now with the shaders and its just unlike anything i’ve seen before! Stellar stuff! Worth every cent!
On BlenderMarket it states it willl work in EEVEE, yet nowhere in your DEMO you have shown what EEVEE will do with your shader. I don't trust your product.
Hi! The caustics are not supported in EEVEE natively due to EEVEE's limitations, but they "can" work a bit under very very specific conditions. For that reason, the caustics are only really advertised as being supported only with Cycles. That being said, the Thin-Film and Dispersion do work natively in EEVEE. However all of my promotional material was done with cycles to squeeze every last bit of quality out of the renders. That may change with the coming improvements to EEVEE Next. To reassure you though, I've recorded a quick demo in EEVEE for you, quickly showing off the Thin Film and Dispersion effects. You can see it here! :) streamable.com/7u825f
I'm a little confused on Shaders Plus V3 vs Shaders Plus Modules. It says on your Gumroad that Modules enables full functionality? What's the difference between the two?
So the Shaders Plus v3 are just replacement shaders of the defaults, so it takes the default shaders and adds the Shaders Plus features to them. The modules are individual node groups of the Shaders Plus Features, that can be injected into any existing shader setup, even those that are not Shaders Plus based. So if you're revisiting an old project, with the V3 shaders, you'll have to replace the main shader node and rewire and set everything if you want it to have the features. Whereas the modules can simply be slotted in without breaking anything. The shaders are great for normal workflows, especially starting from scratch, and the modules are great for existing mode setups to have those features non-destructively :)
@@SMOUSE So, to imagine it in my head, the modules are like applying with a single click the effect of this plugin on a mesh stack of a wall building? The modules have the manual sliding panel available that has shader plus v3 or will I have to enter the group and modify the look I want there?
Hi there! Our current version natively supports 4.2, however unfortunately EEVEE Next still does not support the necessary shader features required for the caustics to work. They are strictly EEVEE limitations that we can't do anything about. However, our Dispersion and Thin-Film solution still work perfectly in EEVEE Next! :) As for an update, we aren't prioritizing any as of right now, but we do have many plans listed out for some nice quality of life improvements, when we are able to finally get around to them! :)
Hi nebula! There should be several scene files included in your download library that show how the underwater caustics were done. Those scene are easier to explain it than words, as you can see and tweak them in real time to see how they work. :)
hello. I bought this addon and am using it in blender 4.1. Most of the shaders don't work with EEVEE, is there any chance for improvement in this part? I'm using EEVEE rather than Cycles because of the animation efficiency. T.T
Hi there! For Eevee, you'll want to make sure Ray Traced Refraction is annealed in the shaders settings, and that Reflection is enabled in the Eevee settings for glass to work properly. This makes Dispersion look better, however Caustics are only limited to cycles at the moment. Thin Film and Dispersion should work natively with Eevee
How physically accurate are the caustics or is it a 'fake' shader effect? I noticed you mention the rainbow is physically accurate but the caustics you didnt say specifically.
The caustics are driven by shadows, not by refraction. I forgot to mention but the caustics do simulate that and reacted to the shaders IOR changes, but not physically accurately. I am working on getting some tutorials done though for achieving realistic results with them, like for the examples I have in this video :)
@@SMOUSE I thought so, so it's utilising the shadow raycasting and then creating an effect around that rather than actually calculating caustics that quickly.
@@jpjapers correct, yeah currently it's not possible to simulate physically accurate caustics in Cycles in real time. A branch of Unreal Engine 4 managed to do it a few years ago with some amazing results, but not sure what ever happened to it. I havent seen anything else like it since. LuxCore is up there, but it's got too many workflow limitations currently to stand up to the mainstream renderers
First of all, I liked the video so much that I bought the full product and can’t wait to use it and will be joining the Discord soon. Second, as the video asked, I will say “Jinx 😹” (I don’t actually know the emoji you used). ;)
@@SMOUSE I’ve been enjoying the caustic glass presets a lot and had one slightly odd question in a very different direction. Do you have any advice on using your shaders in conjunction with video textures or with transmission? I have a music video I’m working on that needs some bloom/glare on one shader and video texture on a different one for a fluid simulation, but I was trying to find a way to work in some caustics. So far my approach hasn’t been the best and I end up having to go with one or the other. :)
I recently bought the caustic water shader and it has the animation speed setting. How can I make this into a seamless loop with my caustic water? leaving the value on 1 just makes it go on until the last frame and when it starts back over the water is set back.
Mostly time, these shaders and making products had unexpectedly become my full time job, and the customer support, development, personal business side, and making additional products has been the main focus, and unfortunately that's been taking time away from being able to make videos. I do plan on making more videos describing the features as soon as I am able to, but to answer your question, I didn't feel like describing all of the shaders in this video was necessary, because they all share the exact same features that comes with the principled, and there's no core changes to the shaders themselves. So making glass with causitcs will look the relatively the same with Principled vs Glass BSDF, minus the extra shader settings that come built in to those respective shaders.
It doesn't show in addon tab even after successful installation. tried pasting directly in script file under addon folder of blender yet doesn't show help me brother.

what kind of dark magic is this ??
This is a great tutorial keep up the great content!!
Thanks man! :)

it doesn't work with me. there is no principled plus shader. there are only caustic module dispresion and thin film. should I combine them myself?
I wonder what values it compares to in dispersion and caustics if you compare to Abbe value? Or is it purely artistic and its very different?
Can you do a step by step tutorial on making pool water with caustics?
Will this ever work with EEVEE / EEVEE Next?
Thanks
即便是我自己安转了插件但是依旧在blender里面找不到相关的任何插件???我想请教一下为什么会这样?TAT
how to install ? I buyed not working 3.6 blender
“Jinx ”😸 exactly what i was looking for, i cant wait to show you how i'm going to apply it💪🏾
How would I get this shader into unreal engine 5?
brother i cannot imagine how much time this took to create. absolutely insane.
I usually don't buy any shaders, but this one was so awesome that I couldn't resist. Having fast caustics and dispersion is a blast

These are the kinds of colors I see in my dreams. Bought it. Thank you! Very excited to learn how to use it. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

ok, the principled shader plus work but how do you use the others like, glass plus shader and the caustics module?
alright, I've learned that for some reason, I can't use them on "flat" beveled cubes. I added a ball and cylinder, both show the caustics just fine.
