I'm not into this type of music whatsoever, but I can't deny the simple brilliance of this song. I don't hear it too often, but when I do everything just seems to go in slow motion, and I think of past mistakes and what could have been. The song does that to me, and it's quite the beautiful thing in itself.
Pretty much the same but instead of thinking about my mistakes I think about my struggles. I watch a lot of live performances one after the other and once it’s too strong to handle I leave and feel better about myself and where I am. It sounds hurtful but it’s not, it makes me happy to remember how hard life was at one point and how the people involved in the struggles won over destiny. I’m grateful to this dude for it, no song has ever had such impact on me.
Absolutely LOVE this song and love this video as well. My son Eric turned me on to this one in the past few years -- now it's part of my memories of him, and him and me together. Eric passed away on February 19, 2024, and I miss him like crazy. He loved music and concerts -- we attended several together, and I'm so glad that he shared some of the artists he followed who I hadn't heard about. This is one of the best! 💗
DELILAH was a girl he met at a party. She was a college track star athlete. He was so smitten by her that he told her he was going to write a song about her. She did not believe him. Surprisingly to her he did and had a hit song. They never dated but went to a music awards show together. DELILAH now coaches college track and when she hears the song she wonders if people know it is about her. ALL TRUE.
"when she hears the song she wonders if people know it is about her." Wonders in her head or wonders aloud, like, "Hey. Hey! HEY! I wonder if you two know that this song is about me!? Did ya?"
I thought it was about a newscaster he saw on TV and wrote it.. well one part of that is true : who ever he wrote it for they interviewed the newscaster I'm referring to and someone tried to make a connection for the two of them...the woman, who was quite strikingly beautiful politely declined...she was flattered but in a relationship and had to turn the offer down. Now I can't say that was who he initially wrote the song for, your story is probably the correct back story but the newscaster being brought into it and turning down a date is also true ...great great song no matter what. ✌️

Seems so long ago I had just lost my wife when i heard this song on Guitar Center. Due to our careers, she oR I would travel to different places. On 911, she was on travel while i was at home. I was in NYC a week before Christmas after all the wreckage of the Towers had been removed. It was so quiet and solemn. Me walking in Times Square at night at that time of the year, alone. Don't know why hearing this song, makes me picture her walking alone in Times Square
A master performance and a song that will live for eternity. Tom higgenson (lead singer) has great vocals in the middle! He was so into the song and I can only dream of ever writing a song more beautiful.
Hey there, Delilah What's it like in New York city? I'm a thousand miles away But, girl, tonight you look so pretty Yes, you do Times Square can't shine as bright as you I swear, it's true Hey there, Delilah Don't you worry about the distance I'm right there if you get lonely Give this song another listen Close your eyes Listen to my voice, it's my disguise I'm by your side Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me What you do to me Hey there, Delilah I know times are gettin' hard But just believe me, girl Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar We'll have it good We'll have the life we knew we would My word is good Hey there, Delilah I've got so much left to say If every simple song I wrote to you Would take your breath away I'd write it all Even more in love with me you'd fall We'd have it all Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me A thousand miles seems pretty far But they've got planes and trains and cars I'd walk to you if I had no other way Our friends would all make fun of us And we'd just laugh along because we'd know That none of them have felt this way Delilah, I can promise you That by the time that we get through The world will never ever be the same And you're to blame Hey there, Delilah You be good, and don't you miss me Two more years and you'll be done with school And I'll be makin' history like I do You know it's all because of you We can do whatever we want to Hey there, Delilah, here's to you This one's for you Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me What you do to me, oh oh, woah, woah Oh woah, oh Oh
Rest easy now Delilah.. You’re now in God’s Grace, Run free feel The Lord’s Love and behold the beauty all around you in heaven. The angels are with you now, They’re going to take care of you dear.. but, we’re all here wishing you’re still here.. Your Family Loves You So Much. The World Misses You So much Kid, We all did. Here’s a song dedicated for you as you sleeps.🕊️🦋🙏🏻🦋🕊️
hey there Delilah, what's it like in New York City. I'm a thousand miles away but tonight you look so pretty, yes you do. I installed cameras in your room, I'm watching you.
@@jfjshfd8540 HA! yes very true. I remember when this tune was released and I saw them live with Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes and Truth is What We Aim for. They were indeed a young band then...I know they are still around...they have gotten older as have I...Hell I was old when this damn tune came out! still a great song. Timeless and I love the back story.
Are you guys going to b posting the rest of the songs up that the plain white t's performed last night for those of us who weren't able to watch them play?

Delilah
And sang her this song.

Relax and fresh song... Memories of my child life! ...
Sylvain Meeboon Ducellier same
For me this was one of those very rare songs.
Upon the first time I heard it I thought who is this!
Just a well crafted piece plain and simple.
Hey there, Delilah
What's it like in New York city?
I'm a thousand miles away
But, girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes, you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear, it's true
Hey there, Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there, Delilah
I know times are gettin' hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Hey there, Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we'd just laugh along because we'd know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah, I can promise you
That by the time that we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there, Delilah
You be good, and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be makin' history like I do
You know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there, Delilah, here's to you
This one's for you
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
What you do to me, oh oh, woah, woah
Oh woah, oh
Oh
I'm a big fan of this song! What a beautiful story! ❤️

"i wRoOOOoOTE to you"
Not sure if I like this song, but the harmonies are sick
His voice seems higher when live
I'm not sure if you mean higher pitch or stoned-higher but i'll just guess it's the second one
That's because that's not tim lopez singing, that's the backup singer
It’s sorta is. Sounds good tho
They wrote this song? I never listened to them besides Our Time from iCarly.

He sang it a little too nasal tho
That's his voice. The original release was kind of like that!

#LB can spank it. (NoProblem)
Song is all time great. Personally love it, marked my early high school years.. but damn he sings like ass live.
He was in key for the most part. Live performances don't have to be done exactly like the studio version

This guy makes me want to claw my eyes out and go deaf. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
No-he does not have the greatest voice(neither does Dylan or Neil Young), but the song is great
Luke Jehle do it
