Thanks so much for this breakdown. Old Brown Shoe is one of my favorite George songs. So many layers to this song and it really show cases his talent and creativity. IMO this song buried Ballad of John and Yoko. You can understand why he would be ready to leave the band when a gem like this is a B side to a throwaway from John. Thank you so much for this video! George deserves so much respect.
This is Tom, not Sandra, again. Yes, 'Old Brown Shoe' should have been an A-side single. I wish George would've put his foot down and demanded his tune be an A-side on another release and not religated to the B-side of this less superior tune. I guess George wasn't as gregarious as John in trying to get his way. Such a great tune is O.B.S., by George. A masterpiece of guitar work on it from George. My favorite George Beatle song, ever!! My favorite Beatles song ever, is..."She Loves You"!!! Thanks for your patience in putting up with my "rants"!! Cheers!!!
THE COMPLETE BEATLES RECORDING SESSIONS, by Mark Lewisohn says: "The live instruments were drums (Ringo), lead guitar and vocals (George), jangle piano (Paul), and rhythm guitar (John). . . . The song's highly distinctive and impressive bass sound was actually a fine combination of matching lead and bass guitar notes played by George and Paul." Later, John's rhythm guitar track was wiped and replaced with George on hammond organ and additional lead guitar, put through a Leslie speaker.
George's most underrated song IMO. Great lesson! Playing the slide riff on the B/G strings is so much easier than how I have been learning it on the E/B strings. I relate to what you said about the 'chills' this song gives you. I always think what could have been when I hear this song ... the Beatles staying together a bit longer as an equal 3 man writing team and doing solo stuff on the side ... what could have been ...
REVOLUTION might be a good one for you to teach all us TH-cam grazers one day. Great Lesson, Ditto to George being one of the finest guitar players that ever lived. The Wilbury years are great too, I especially like "End of the Line". It's tricky to sing it too at the same time as you play it.
i think if GEORGE H. had used more distortion on the solo it would've gone down in BEATLES history as one of their best but it's very clean and not very prominent in the mix ie. 'TAXMAN' or 'GOOD MORNING GOOD MORNING' hence why it's not really considered.
when we look for a song lesson video we are looking for the best and fastest way to learn it .... your opinion on the song the riffs on it and tons of things youre trying to expres .... not help to do it. Thank you for the attention on this comment. good vibes !
This is Tom, not Sandra. I heard that George phased out John's part. John really could be a Butthead when he wanted to. I'm glad George phased out John's part. (IMO)

Ballad of John and Yoko is not a throwaway.
Didn't know the song had some cool modal changes . Shows off George's maturity as a composer and guitarist. Fantastic

Great!!! One of Goerge’s underrated songs!
You’re a great guitar player as well, congratulations!!!
Such a great song and vibe. Great playing specially from George. Such an end of a Era. Thank you!
Such a nice lesson of a great song, love the obvious enthousiasm for the song!
George has great songs!
I love this one, one of George's best songs. It always sounds to me like a spaghetti commercial. Thanks for the lesson!
Best regards from Bavaria
Greetings! Hope to visit there one day

PhenomenL player
So love this
I think George wiped a John rhythm guitar part- John said George songs at this time were too complicated.
