In this episode we take a look at some facts, secrets, and history of Wii Sports. Wii Sports was developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii. The game was released in 2006, and was included as a pack-in game with the Wii console in all territories besides Japan and South Korea. This made it the first game bundled in with a Nintendo system since Mario's Tennis for the Virtual Boy in 1995. Wii Sports is the second best-selling video game of all time, behind Tetris, and is the best-selling game of all time for a single platform. As of September 30, 2015, the game had sold 82.72 million copies worldwide.

They had Wii Sports to play at a mental hospital I was at a few years ago, it really was a great way to be a little active and get my mind off of all the bullshit that sent me there.

LeCoolFace It's fun indeed, but it kinda surprises me that some people still do play it considering I barely touched it since I got other Wii games, and that's because I still play on my Wii a lot (mostly virtual console though)
+Ruko Michiharu Wii Sports even got a remake last year on the Wii U, aptly titled Wii Sports Club. Complete with online play, more modes and everything. It has an interesting pricing model, where you can get a $2 day pass to play all the sports for a day, or $10 for each sport. Golf is crazy fun on it.

I've never heard of wii play.I thought it was only wii sports and wii sports resort.
Wii Play wasn't as popular. I've had the game for years but never play it because the game selection isnt good. Wii Play did also see a sequel though which was a lot better

U serious? Wii play was lit. And still is. But then again, wii sports was the more advertised one.
Miyamoto knew where he was going by trying to implement a virtual resort into the Nintendo mythos. Not only to I consider Isle Delfino from Super Mario Sunshine an early start, I consider it the reason that Wii Sports Resort exists with such a fine tuned, relaxing art style. If only we got many more games focusing around Wuhu Island, because I would love for that to have happened.

I can not begin to count the amount of hours spent exploring Wuhu Island while playing Pilotwings Resort. Loved the nightly fireworks.

When I went to live in a rehab center to learn to walk and move again, they had a Wii with only one game: this one. Bowling was about the only one used as most patients had joint replacements and had to stand up, balance themselves on walkers (yes, even me), bowl and then sit to wait their next turn. The biggest reason I got the Wii was to get better and stronger, to get out of my wheelchair or walker. I asked someone in the games section of Toys R Us if she knew which game would be helpful for rehab that didn't require a lot of balancing. Incredibly, she knew the answer because her mother needed it for the same reason! The game was Wii Sports Resort, btw, but i couldn't afford it. I am so glad to hear that rehab is mentioned! It really is widely used for this reason.

the nostalgia from hearing the wii sports theme for the first time in literally like 8 or 9 years the other day. I got a wii as my birthday gift when i was 5 in 2007 im nearly 15 now (later this month actually, may 25th and i hadn't heard this song in YEARS until i stumbled onto it the other day, i was pretty happy i found that, i now want to get a copy of wii sports and to fix up my wii. it's disc drive sadly broke like 5 months ago :(

Omg memories! This game was my childhood! I literally grew up with the Wii, and I always played Wii Sports!!! I loved playing with my family too, and I have vivid memories of my family and I making our Miis and I remember I played this game almost every day!

I would kill for more games that use Wuhu Island as a base.
Legitimately think Wii Sports is still one of the best games as it comes with: Memorable and nostalgic music, pretty decent graphics, okish gameplay (The motion controls weren't amazing but it was the Wii, the motion controls weren't that good overall); and finally, the fact you used Mii characters. They truly did make you feel like *YOU* were the player.

Honestly, the Wii is one of the greatest consoles ever simply because it bred a new generation of gamers. The games were simple yet fun and replayable, and I'm proud to say that I got the chance to own and play one in my life. So many great memories with it and the Wii U, top 5 console of all time to me.
It's not really one of the best games on the Wii but it is really fun to play!
