Kenta had the best song. I just love his don't give a fuck attitude and gravelly voice. Very much like a Swedish Bob Dylan and current for the time. I know it wouldn't have done anything at ESC but I adore it. Thomas was the right winner and 'Just nu' deserved more in ESC. Liza Ohman had the song which would have got a great result in ESC. She sells the hell of it and its very powerful and in the vein of pop music at that time. Chips reminds me of Kenny Rogers / Tammy Wynette. Tanja looks more at home with the Israeli Kdam selection. Gorgeous little song and beautiful voice. There are no bad songs in this edition and perhaps the best MF of the 1980s.

10 - They seem really desperate to stand up from the benches but it's like they have been forbidden to do so. 7, 8, 9 - Nothing remarkable to say 6 - Judging from this excerpt, it sounds quite good. An interesting mix of 70's disco and medieval singing. Tania looks a lot like Beth (Spain ESC 2003). 5 - So in 1980 Chips was all this bunch of people and two years later they were down to Kiki and Bettan. 4 - A decent national winner, with a lot of energy. 3 - The backup singers part sounds rather childish. 2 - Interesting 1 - The orchestral arrangements could have been better, but a very strong song, this could have been a good choice for Sweden that year. As a matter of fact, I think the orchestra seems a tad too overpowering in most songs, it was like the musicians wanted to steal the attention from the singers. But all in all, a good national final and I'll be looking forward to more of these blasts for the past.

I have to say Melodifestivalen has a lot of great songs in Swedish. I especially like a lot of the 80's ones
