the most tragic thing about constances character is that she only realized all of these things about how nice life is *after* she died

@Blue Cocoa Sometimes official sheet books have old lyrics or ones used in some scenarios but not others. Her pronunciation is pretty clear and it definitely sounds like the lyrics changed in the cast recording.

As much as I love Noel's Lament and The Ballad of Jane Doe, this song deserves the same, if not more, appreciation than them. The monologue Constance gives before this number also really hits hard.
Literally this song is also so good. My personal favourite from the musical. Second part especially

constance in general is such an underrated character but she's honestly my favorite, she's relatable and sweet and her monologue makes me cry EVERY time

I didn’t care for it too much until I saw the musical itself and the context behind it. Now it’s probably tied as my favorite song next to Ballad of Jane Doe.

the saddest part is the fact that if the rollercoaster didnt crash then constance would have gone off the ride enjoying life with her new perspective :(

@@autismcreatureirl nope! i meant that she learned to appreciate life more because of her adrenaline from the rollercoaster hence why the cyclone is her favorite ride. another thing that hints at that is the fact that she sings about ups and downs and being up on a cloud which is what she felt when she was riding the rollercoaster. you could take that as her falling but that would be more of a direct fall than ups and downs.
also! In the ending when it gets sadder she sings ¨and everythings clear¨ suggesting that she realises her demise and how life could have been different.

As someone who has previously attempted suicide, I think this song hit the hardest for me out of the whole musical.
Edit: I'm doing a hell of a lot better now, therapy and meds have worked wonders for me. I hope everyone who related to my comment is doing okay as well

there's literally not a single bad song on rtc. i love the fall fair suite, uranium suite, wtwn, noels lament, this song is awesome, talia, space age bachelor man, ballad of jane doe, sugar cloud, and it's not a game. all of them are good. there's not a single bad song. i love them all. probably one of my favorite theatre albums.

The thing is, this song is her accepting her life AND her death, because in that she took the stance that years alive are better than being not having a life at all, from the 5 that stayed dead, her and Ricky accepted it before anyone did, she, as she says in jawbreaker, appreciates all the moments of minimal joy in her life and reviving her would make her acceptance of her death meaningless
