The Steam Deck isn't locked into just Steam's marketplace though? Can use anything compatible with Linux as it has a full desktop mode.
Exactly. Not even necessarily compatible with Linux, even, Proton does it's job most of the time and if it doesn't and you REALLY want something to run, Windows dual boot is fairly easy to do. The only thing this device seems to have going for it is a smaller form factor since I'd love something smaller and more compact than a Steam Deck with the same features and at least similar power, but the price is ridiculous.
@@Jhud69 sd hardware is also vasty inferior
proton is a pain for many games on the sd you need a particular version of proton …
I didn’t turn on my sd since 6 months
I have also the rog ally and the onexfly that I turn on regularly…
Finally a more recent review
SteamOS on the Steamdeck isn't locked to Steam marketplace at all
I use Heroic launcher which supports Epic, GOG and Amazon games but I've also played some Origin games
I think he means natively, the deck technically supports everything but requires software modification/going out of your way to do it.
@@Vulpas imagine being this sad
@@xane424 I mean, you have to go "out of your way" to install game launchers on Windows too?
@zerorig Good to know, thank you for the heads up! I don't have a Steam Deck myself yet (borrowed a friend's), but I'll definitely have to try that out if/when I do!
@@loading...4091 i mean like having to use desktop mode, learn linux compatibility between apps, things like that *rather than just being able to install it normally like windows.
That looks really cool
These videos are so cozy :) I love little reviews like this! How loud is the fan?
Not too bad! You can definitely hear it in a quiet room, but if it's not actively running something demanding, it's pretty silent. Thanks for watching!
Does it have a sleep functionality?
For example, if I decide to stop playing in the middle of a level and hit the power button, can I just resume where I left if I decide to pick the system up even days later?
Yeah, as long as the game plays nice with Windows, you can just use the power button to sleep 👍
I think he mean is the quick sleep and resume as steam deck. Windows doesn’t have that u will end up going to windows desktop and have to go to tab game to continue again. There is a hybernate mode but its not smooth as steam deck
I actually had something slightly similar you have to go to volume mixer and change your input that should disable it
I like your energy, fun review
I've been loving my AOKZOE A1 Pro
bro all these handheld devices, i didn't even know that existed
Here’s where I see the benefit of dual usb… and the custom dock made for this thing.
Bottom port: dock (all your connections & Ethernet)
Top Port: eGPU such as their OneXFly
I’m interested but the Mic Recording has me concerned, did they fix the issue or is there a way to turn it off without turning off the Speakers?
Excellent review! I bought my OneXFly through their IndieGogo campaign, and it's been fantastic so far. The form factor, gorgeous screen, and raw power is what made me decide to get it over the Steam Deck (at the time, the OLED Deck hadn't been announced).
Being relatively light at under 600g was also a nice feature. In fact, I have no clue how they have all this horsepower in such a relatively small device. Audio nerds will also love to hear that you can plug in a portable DAC into one of the USB-C ports (I use the THX Onyx), and it'll power your headphones or earbuds while leaving you another port to charge with.
The only downside of the device so far has been how much setup time it can take to get certain things to work. But I think that's more of a Windows problem than a OneXFly problem. Also, the Epic Game Store is an absolute pain in the ass to deal with. Literally any other game launcher is less of a hassle. I'd personally rate the device a 9/10. There's not a lot that I'd like to improve. Everything about using the device save from Windows hiccups just feels right. It doesn't get a 10/10 because $950 for a portable gaming PC is a LOT to ask. If you're the kind of person that can benefit from what the device offers though, you probably won't regret your purchase.
I've used a Steam Deck, ROG Ally, AyaNeo 2021, AyaNeo Air, and if you have big hands, you'll most likely share in my opinion that the OneXFly is the most comfortable one.
Question how much vram this thing have I may ask
Blessings! Mines is on the way, any tips, tricks or advice?
2 Questions
1. Are you gonna review the Playstation Portal
2. Did you get a new camera?
These steam deck alternatives really need to add the two trackpads. They really are useful and it seems that every alternative is missing them.
Steam Deck doesn't "lock you out" of anything, though. You can install almost any game you'd want (almost, because some games with very restrictive anti-cheat software can pose a problem, but this is ironed out constantly). You can just... install any marketplace you want through Steam. And not just marketplaces but just standalone games as well if you have files for them. And if you do need Windows, like for the aforementioned games with anti-cheat software, you can very easily install a dual boot which is even partially supported by Valve since they provide the drivers to do it. Of course there IS market for Non-steam deck PC handhelds still, namely in terms of 1. Size (SD is amazing but the size is... barely portable in terms of carrying it around) 2. Specs, if you want even better performance, graphics or battery life than SD overs (though for the price of the cheapest unit that you can still upgrade how much you want, it's hard to find a worthy replacement). Non-SD PC handhelds aren't really nothing new on the market either - there's the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go as big companies go, then AYN Loki and Ayaneo Air as more "indie" yet overall trustworthy companies go (also, with a smaller, more Switch Lite form factor). This one I've admittedly not heard of before, and this makes me a bit wary of it how long-term support on this thing would be. And the price s pretty ridiculous, considering you can get Loki Max for $550 right now.
@Jhud69 Good to know, thank you for the heads up! I don't have a Steam Deck myself yet (borrowed a friend's).
oh man this handheld seems neat
'looks at price'
i'll just take the steamdeck for half off
Enjoy piss poor performance
i'll still stand by my steamdeck purchase, it gets the job done and is very well supported by Valve.
Not a good option going into 2024, it has so many bugs regarding a weird version of Linux most people don't know how to install emulators and everything else.
@@thomaszinecker1785 i didn't know anything about installing emulators on it but i was able to follow a how to video on youtube to do it. Now i can play just about anything on it. You'd have to be a complete retard to not know how to use the steamdeck so id say your argument is invalid.
lame hardware tho
@@aternialaffsalot dumb comment considering its the best selling portable pc on the market currently. I think many would disagree.
@@thomaszinecker1785 had my steam deck for 1 years and never had any issue everything works fine lmao
I’ll say it again and again. Having no track pad on a windows hand held baffles me.
Yep, I was about to comment on the same thing. Nothing really competes with the Steam Deck unless it has a track pad.

Good review exactly what I’m looking for , I have used all the devices mentioned and I feel the same way that this device will hold a bit of an edge , but we will see mine will be here Thursday 😊
How is it?
how's it ?
Do you have to have Xbox Gamepass to play Fortnite? I bought Kingdom Hearts 3 for Xbox. Can I play it on this device without using remote play?
I'm a little surprised at all the negative comments here. Spec-wise, this thing runs circles around the Steam Deck. That CPU benchmarks at over 25,000 in Passmark
There’s so many Switch style handhelds now I’m starting to lose track.
Awesome

Nintendrew looking Gangster
Who still remember or uses One X Player 2 or 2 Pro after 12 months?
In the future Onexfly 2 should have the 8th gen AMD CPU/GPU combo and a QD-OLED screen
Wait, so the RGB element in the bottom corners is not something you can just change whenever you want? It's baked in to your unit? That's kind of lame, honestly.
Yeah it's like a permanent cutout/engraving-type thing
at the risk of sounding like a Steam Deck OLED fanboy, but i can easily get 3 hours playing GTA V and the Witcher.
but the near-Nintendo Switch size is really a major selling point. I WOULD have jumped on this if I saw this before buying the Deck. Being able to give 2 hours of AAA gaming is also impressive for its size (compared to Ayaneo). Costs almost double the Steam Deck OLED though.
Do you think this would be a good system for Roblox?
I'm sure it probably would be, as long as it has controller support!
What game is at 4:56? The skydiving one.
Just Cause 4!
Did you imply Steam Deck is locked to only steam? That's not true. Would love to see how SteamOS works on this machine.
Hey what happen to the intro song? 😢
Reviews always have this shorter sting 🙂 Don't worry, it's not going anywhere!
It's kind of funny how when people show more than 60fps games on gaming consoles that can run more than 60fps on a current camera they will not be capturing the in person experience of the higher fps really. Both cameras and TH-cam still don't support more than 60fps and 60fps for videos makes them still super smooth to me on good enough things except for those AI forced 60fps videos which currently always have some frames not being smooth which hurts my eyes. I hope one day cameras are so good that they have more than 60fps for videos. I'm so glad there is tech like in this video that still has a headphone jack which work with my favourite headphones which are the M40X headphones and yes I tried many others at a store before buying them. BTW if you want flat and accurate audio, all the Audio Technica MwhatevernumbertheyuseX headphones are the best for that for their prices I think. I have never noticed better or worse quality from any audio or music gear after "breaking them in" and I have good ears.

Since when this channel changed from Nintendrew to Sponsordrew?
Since I have bills 😭 We appreciate our sponsors, they're the real MVP lol
SteamOS does not lock you into just Steam!
It's a PC. You can install whatever you want! Please strop spreading misinformation!
Apologies for the mistake! I was under the impression it was restricted to Steam and Linux. I don't own one myself yet, and was borrowing a friend's. 😅 Thanks for watching!
Wth 1000$
yeah better steam deck but double price ;)
Can we all agree that this video is pure joy?
Yikes can you wipe the Windows install and put Linux on it instead?
What I got from this review:
1000 dollar device for a 7/10 overall impression and less than 3hrs of battery life.
I don't see myself (or anybody really) being the target group for this.
Battery life is the single most important feature on a handheld.
Having to stop playing after 2hrs is like your parents taking your console away... I am over that 😅
But all the handheld PC's have trash battery, so you gotta get one of them If you want to pc on the go.
@@NoHandleSelected. It's true that they all have trash battery Life. That's why none of them is worth that ridiculous price Tag!
@@overlordalfredo I mean, the Steam Deck has pretty good battery life. 3+ hours on average depending on what you're playing. With some tinkering you can get 3-4 hours (or more) out of big AAA games like Cyberpunk. Lighter or older games can easily get 5-6 hours or even more. I don't see how that's trash.
@@loading...4091 5 hrs is bare minimum of battery life.
What is the point of a handheld device that is best used for car or train trips or flights.
Including waiting time at airports or train stations you easily exceed 8-10 hrs.
If you barely get half of that by default - that's pretty trash!
And even if you don't travel and just like to play handhelds at home a normal session is at least 5hrs. If you have not charged the device 100% you are screwed...
@@overlordalfredo And you can get 5 hours out of most games with tinkering and graphical adjustments (which don't tend to affect the game much considering we're talking about a small 7 inch screen here). You can easily get better battery life than a Switch at the very least. And until we get a big breakthrough in battery tech, that's the best we're gonna get because at this point it's mostly a physical limitation of current battery technology. If you're constantly traveling with no access to a power outlet it's not ideal but saying the device itself is trash is too harsh. if you want hours upon hours of battery life you're only really going to get that with an older handheld like a Gameboy. I don't know why you're complaining about a device that you're clearly not the target market for in the first place. I'm personally not in the target market for a more powerful portable PC like the ROG Ally due to it's comparatively short battery life and some software annoyances, but I'm not going to sit there and call it garbage because it isn't, there's valid use cases for it, it's just not for me.

Gotta say that running Windows on a handheld device is a baffling descision
Also wdym "locked to steam"?
You aren't limited to the Steam Store on the Steam Deck
Is this video sponsored? If so, why isn’t it disclosed?
Yes, by Hinomi (the chair company), and it is disclosed? Both with the on-screen annotation and verbally within the first 20 seconds of the video.
Kind of surprised youd dedicated a video to bashing the steam deck via the competition when you havent even done a single steam deck video alone... Paid sponsorship?
Lol no, and also if you actually watch the video I don't conclude as much :P It's just more powerful, but which is "better" is highly subjective. In fact, the issue I point out at the end is a pretty _major_ downside.
Edit: I also don't own a Steam Deck yet 😭 I borrowed a friend's haha. I'd love to cover it more once I get one of my own, though!
CONpletionist
Bad video right away he says that steam deck is locked into steam as marketplace which is not true, disliking and will not watch again
Is it good buying steam deck only for gaming or I have to go for onexfly or Asus Rog ally...I am a casual gamer who love some pc games and Zelda and Pokemon games...I see some videos that switch games run on steam deck pritty better..so is it good for buying steam deck??? I want handheld device only ...😅
I may not be a fan of Windows 11 compared to 10, but I am a fan of any handheld gaming system that runs dear god anything but Linux.
Why? Sure, certain things aren't available on Linux (like games with Anti-Cheats that for some reason don't support Linux) but the benefits of something like SteamOS are numerous (Out-of-the-box handheld-focused experience, suspend-resume sleep function, less overhead because of background apps, automatic updates; you don't need to deal with manually updating various drivers, etc). That's besides the point though, we can argue about which OS does what thing better but that really doesn't matter because if something like the Deck isn't appealing to you because of Linux, you can literally wipe the drive and install Windows 10 or something instead.
Just say you don't understand computers bud. As a software developer, Linux is everything we need it to be. More open source!
@@jeanshortswagGreat. Now open source up some compatibility with games that have anti cheat software.
Ok you keep your barely customisable OS with ads in the file explorer.
